Low Sensory Morning at Animal Adventure allows for calm, quiet visit to the park

HARPURSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Animal Adventure is ensuring community members of all abilities are able to enjoy a visit to the park.
Animal Adventure is hosting its first Low Sensory Morning of the season on May 31.
From 8:30 to 10 a.m., guests with sensory sensitivities and other needs can visit with the animals and explore the park at their own pace before the usual weekend crowds. Low Sensory Morning guests are welcome to stay as long as they wish.
The event is open to any individual or family with a need that makes visiting during a calmer, quieter time preferable.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man is facing charges after he was found unconscious in his car in the middle of a Northeast Portland street with a loaded illegal firearm in his lap early Saturday morning. Just before 5 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Northeast Sandy Boulevard and 82nd Avenue on reports of a person passed out in a vehicle. Arriving at the scene, police said they found a man slumped over in the driver's seat and the vehicle running. Man shot, killed in Safeway parking lot in NE Portland While they were approaching the car, officers saw a firearm with an extended magazine in the man's lap, authorities said. Police requested backup and developed a tactical plan to deescalate the situation, eventually taking the man into custody. A loaded firearm was also seized from the vehicle and the car was towed. PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Four people were hospitalized after a stabbing incident at a pop-up rave party on the Eastbank Esplanade early Saturday morning. At around 3:30 a.m., officers responded to the Eastbank Esplanade at Southeast Salmon Street on reports of a stabbing. On arrival, police found there had been a rave party with hundreds of people in attendance. Man found unconscious in car with loaded illegal firearm in Northeast Portland At one point in the night, someone pulled out a knife and three men and a teen were stabbed. All four were taken to a hospital, two with serious injuries and two only requiring stitches, police said. They added one of the men was detained by police pending further investigation. Although officials say they are not seeking any suspects at this time, they are encouraging anyone with information on this incident to contact Portland police. This is a developing story. Several lightning storms rolled through the area around 5 p.m., and one of those lightning strikes hit a house, sparking a fire.
