TAWAU (May 11): The three-day Sabah MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025, which began on Friday at the Tawau Municipal Council Square here, has successfully achieved its objective of bringing government programmes and services closer to the people.
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the programme also marked a successful effort in making entrepreneurship a movement to eradicate poverty.
'The programme receives an overwhelming response from the people of Sabah, especially from the east coast. The various activities and services offered successfully attracted 150,000 visitors as of 11 am Sunday.
'Over two days, sales amounting to nearly RM1 million were recorded through the Jualan Murah Madani Sale, the One District One Industry (SDSI) sales and food truck sales. Additionally, RM3.4 million was channelled into entrepreneur financing and RM365,000 was recorded under the Business Matching initiative,' he said in a statement on Sunday.
According to Ewon, the event featured 36 booths from ministries, government agencies and private sector participants offering 242 touchpoint services, as well as 158 MADANI sales entrepreneurs, security asset exhibitions, a career carnival, seven satellite programmes and 63 engagement sessions.
He said the success of Sabah PMR 2025 was the result of strategic cooperation between the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP) as the lead ministry, the Sabah government and the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) of the Prime Minister's Department.
He added that during the programme, five entrepreneurs from the B40 group were also presented with the Sabah Entrepreneur Excellence Award by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
'These are 'zero to hero' entrepreneurs who received guidance from government agencies and have successfully created job opportunities for the local community,' he said.
He added that KUSKOP extends its appreciation to all quarters across all ministries and agencies, private companies, entrepreneurs, and especially the people of Sabah for their strong support and participation in the programme.-Bernama

SejaTi MADANI Initiative: Over 1,000 Grant Applications Received, 668 Projects Approved
KOTA BHARU, July 23 (Bernama) -- The SejaTi MADANI initiative continues to record encouraging success in Kelantan, with a total of 1,135 grant applications received as of yesterday from communities across the state. The Kelantan Federal Development Office of the Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister's Department (ICU JPM), in a statement today, said that out of the total, 668 projects had been approved and were currently being implemented, reflecting the people of Kelantan's strong commitment to empowering the local economy through various community projects. 'For the year 2024 alone, 1,065 applications have been received, with 523 projects approved and carried out. The increase in applications this year proves the public's growing awareness and confidence in the potential of the SejaTi MADANI programme to support community-based economic development. 'Five key sectors have been the main focus of grant applications, namely agriculture and food, tailoring and handicrafts, herbs and health, tourism and hospitality, as well as green and recycling activities. The agriculture and food sector recorded the highest number of applications, showing the community's inclination to making it a stable and sustainable source of income,' the statement read. According to ICU JPM, the districts of Tumpat, Kubang Kerian, Bachok and Pasir Puteh recorded the highest number of applications, reflecting strong interest and active participation of the community in seizing the opportunities offered by the initiative. The SejaTi MADANI programme empowers grassroots communities to plan and implement projects that suit their needs with grant support of up to RM100,000. 'Among the projects that have recorded notable achievements are the stingless bee farming project by the Tasek Berangan Community Organisation in Pasir Mas, which produces high-quality stingless bee honey for the local market and has the potential to be expanded as an agro-tourism product,' ICU JPM said. In addition, corn and vegetable farming in Kampung Paloh, Tanah Merah, and seedless watermelon cultivation in Kampung Air Tawar, Semerak, Pasir Puteh have also achieved success. 'The implementation of this programme is expected to continue serving as a key platform in sustainably empowering the people of Kelantan economically,' read the statement.

Nga: Anwar's fuel price cut proves promises kept
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's announcement of initiatives to ease the people's cost of living proves that the Madani government is fulfilling its promises, said Housing and Local Government (KPKT) Minister Nga Kor Ming. He said the reduction of the RON95 fuel price to RM1.99 per litre makes it one of the lowest in the world. "This demonstrates his concern in addressing cost-of-living issues despite financial constraints. On behalf of 22,000 KPKT families, I would like to thank the Prime Minister for the good news. Anwar said if he became Prime Minister, fuel prices would go down, and now, they will really go down. "Even with the current financial limitations, we've managed to reduce the fuel price, maintain toll rates, provide SARA (Sumbangan Asas Rahmah), and give various incentives," he said at a press conference after officiating the Asean Real Estate Conference (AREC) 2025 and the International Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition (ARCHIDEX) 2025, here yesterday. Nga said the one-off RM100 aid under SARA for all Malaysians aged 18 and above also reflects the government's commitment to helping not only the B40 group but also the M40 group, which is often excluded from such aid. He said the RM2 billion allocation, benefiting 22 million Malaysians, is expected to have a multiplier effect on the economy, while the postponement of toll rate hikes serves as an anti-inflationary measure. Nga emphasised that the Madani government will continue its nation-building efforts and urged all Malaysians to unite in helping the country rise again and gain global respect. "Sometimes in the government, we are required to make some unpopular, extremely difficult decisions as leaders who care about the next generation. "I expect more good news in 2026 Budget, which is scheduled to be tabled in October, so stay tuned," he said. Yesterday, the Prime Minister announced several key initiatives as a gesture of appreciation from the Madani government to the people, including a one-off RM100 aid under the SARA programme, a freeze on toll hikes for 10 highways, and a targeted subsidy bringing the RON95 fuel price down to RM1.99 per litre. Meanwhile, Nga said the Madani government will continue with housing reforms through initiatives such as PR1MA, affordable housing, and low-cost homes. "You have to give us at least three terms to realise our vision. We're only halfway through the first term. If you give us a second and third term — 15 years — we will be able to deliver on our promises." - BERNAMA
