India slams Pakistan's 'charade' on Kishenganga, Ratle dams; trashes 'illegal' Court of Arbitration's new ruling
India has dismissed a ruling by a Court of Arbitration regarding the Kishenganga and Ratle hydroelectric projects. The projects are located in Jammu and Kashmir. India on Friday rejected a fresh ruling by a Court of Arbitration over two hydroelectric projects in Jammu and Kashmir . The Pakistan-backed court issued a 'supplemental award' claiming it has the right to decide on the Kishenganga and Ratle dams under the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960."India categorically rejects this so-called supplemental award as it has rejected all prior pronouncements of this body," ministry said in an official statement on the matter.India's Ministry of External Affairs said this so-called court is "illegal" because it was set up in clear violation of the treaty. India has never accepted its existence or any of its past decisions, calling them unlawful and automatically invalid."Today, the illegal Court of Arbitration, purportedly constituted under the Indus Waters Treaty 1960, albeit in brazen violation of it, has issued what it characterizes as a "supplemental award' on its competence concerning the Kishenganga and Ratle hydroelectric projects in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir," the ministry statement echoed."India has never recognised the existence in law of this so-called Court of Arbitration, and India's position has all along been that the constitution of this so-called arbitral body is in itself a serious breach of the Indus Waters Treaty and consequently any proceedings before this forum and any award or decision taken by it are also for that reason illegal and per se void," it added.The PM Narendra Modi-led Centre also reiterated that until Pakistan stops supporting cross-border terrorism, India will not follow the treaty's rules."Until such time that the Treaty is in abeyance, India is no longer bound to perform any of its obligations under the Treaty. No Court of Arbitration, much less this illegally constituted arbitral body which has no existence in the eye of law, has the jurisdiction to examine the legality of India's actions in exercise of its rights as a sovereign," the statement further said.The Central government called the ruling a 'charade' pushed by Pakistan to avoid facing the truth about its role in terrorism. India said Pakistan has a long history of using false claims and manipulating international forums to cover up its actions."This latest charade at Pakistan's behest is yet another desperate attempt by it to escape accountability for its role as the global epicenter of terrorism. Pakistan's resort to this fabricated arbitration mechanism is consistent with its decades-long pattern of deception and manipulation of international forums."

Arvind Kejriwal urges slum dwellers to protest against demolitions, calls BJP-Congress ‘brother and sister'
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday (June 29, 2025) urged slum dwellers to protest against the BJP-led government's demolition drives and called on them to reject both the BJP and Congress in future elections. Addressing a protest organised by the AAP at Jantar Mantar against slum demolitions, Mr. Kejriwal said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said 'Jahan Jhuggi, Wahan Makan', but what he meant was 'Jahan Jhuggi, Wahan Maidan'. His promises are false and I urge you not to fall for them in future." The AAP national convener alleged that the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government had "ruined" the city in the past five months. Team from three Manipur groups to meet MHA officials for conflict resolution
A 19-member delegation from three Meitei-led groups in Manipur is scheduled to meet the officials in Delhi on Monday (June 30, 2025) to resolve a long-drawn ethnic conflict. These groups are the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation, and Federation of Civil Society Organisations. A member of one of these organisations said the discussion would focus on four issues: territorial integrity of Manipur, opening of two arterial highways, resettlement and rehabilitation of the internally displaced people, and security for farmers living and working on the periphery of the Imphal Valley. 'Non-Meitei members are part of the delegation,' he said. Manipur has been in turmoil since May 3, 2023, when the ethnic conflict between the non-tribal Meitei people and the tribal Kuki-Zo communities broke out. The conflict left more than 250 people dead and some 60,000 displaced. The scale of violence has come down over the past few months, but tension prevails, specifically along the 'buffer zone', a strip separating the Meitei-dominated Imphal Valley from the surrounding foothills where the Kuki-Zo people are in the majority. The issue of territorial integrity refers to the demand of some Kuki-Zo groups for the creation of a 'separate administration.' The Meiteis continue to be 'barred' from using the National Highway-2 and National Highway-37, which connect the Imphal Valley to the rest of the country through areas controlled by the Kuki-Zo people. Farmers in the valley operating in their fields close to the 'buffer zone' have occasionally come under fire from armed groups in the hills. In the latest incident on June 19, a Meitei farmer was killed in the Phubala area of the Bishnupur district adjoining Churachandpur.
