A Homestead man scored a million-dollar prize playing the
Florida Lottery
's $1,000,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR scratch-off game.
Hector Anaya Jr. chose to receive his winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.
Anaya bought his winning ticket at a RaceTrac, on NE 8 Street in Homestead. The store will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.
The $50 scratch-off game features two top prizes of $1 million a year for life and 234 prizes of $1 million. Additionally, this ticket is filled with more than $1.6 billion in cash prizes. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1-in-4.50.
Scratch-off games made up about 74% of Florida Lottery ticket sales in its 2023-2024 fiscal year. They've generated nearly $19.80 billion for the state's Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
The Florida Lottery has contributed more than $48 billion to enhance education and sent over a million students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.

The only jackpot win among the big money Florida Lottery draw games on Tuesday — Mega Millions, Jackpot Triple Play, Fantasy 5, Cash4Life — was shared by players in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties. The Mega Millions jackpot reached $100 million for Friday's drawing. The Jackpot Triple Play is up to $275,000. Tuesday's first game, the Fantasy 5 midday drawing, came up 4, 9, 13, 17 and 25. Those numbers were on a ticket bought at the West Miami Sunflex station, 1330 SW 57th Ave. and a free Quick Pick ticket from a Boynton Beach Publix, 4966 Le Chalet Blvd. Each ticket won $26,070. That makes four Fantasy 5 hits at three Boynton Beach Publix stores in just over two months. Offices are open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The 'Miami District Office' is in Miami Lakes, 14621 Oak Ln. Appointments can be made, but aren't required, at MIARC@ or 305-364-3080. The office in Palm Beach is called the 'West Palm Beach District Office' and can be emailed at WPBRC@ but is actually in Palm Springs at 4360 Forest Hill Blvd.. The phone number is 561-640-6190.
