Murad distributes Rs400m to empower PWDs

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah reaffirmed his government's commitment to fostering an inclusive and empowered society by announcing Rs 400 million in financial assistance for persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Addressing a cheque distribution event, organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), at the CM's office, Shah emphasised the importance of sustainable partnerships, access to assistive technologies, inclusive education, and equal employment opportunities as central priorities of the provincial government.
Provincial ministers Sharjeel Memon, Nasir Hussain Shah, Saeed Ghani, Riaz Shah Sheerazi, Zia Lanjar, Ali Hassan Zardari, Shahid Thahim, Muhammad Ali Malkani, Senator Waqar Mehdi, and Special Assistants Syed Qasim Naveed and Sarfaraz Rajar, were also present.
The Chief Minister distributed cheques to 56 partner organisations, part of a Rs 400 million financial assistance package aimed at improving the lives of PWDs, with the funds already transferred to recipients' accounts.

HYDERABAD: A high-level delegation of Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders & Small Industry (HCSTSI) participated in the 'Financing Agreement Signing Ceremony' and the event organized in connection with the Global Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Day (MSMEs Day). The delegation was led by Acting President Ahmed Idrees Chohan, who was invited as the Chief Guest at the prestigious event. The program was organized by the Sindh Agricultural and Forestry Workers Coordinating Organization (SAFWCO) under the Growth for Rural Advancement and Sustainable Progress (GRASP) project, aimed at supporting and financing MSMEs. On this occasion, selected SMEs were awarded grants of Rs. 10 million and Rs. 20 million. While addressing the ceremony, Ahmed Idrees Chohan highlighted that the Global MSMEs Day, observed annually on June 27 under the United Nations, serves as a reminder that small and medium enterprises are the backbone of any economy. In a developing country like Pakistan, MSMEs are key drivers of employment, innovation and economic sustainability. He appreciated the efforts of SAFWCO, GRASP, European Union (EU), International Trade Centre (ITC), Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and other partner institutions for making financial support for SMEs a reality and celebrating the day with full spirit. LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, 'I pray that may the new Islamic year brings a message of peace and security to the Muslim Ummah. The new Islamic year is a messenger of unity and solidarity for the Muslim Ummah. May Allah Almighty makes the new Islamic year 1447 (AH) a year of peace and progress for Pakistan.' In her message on the beginning of Muharram-ul-Haram and the Islamic year, the CM said, 'I pray that may the new Hijri year brings peace, tranquility, prosperity and happiness across the globe. May the new Hijri year becomes a source of blessing for Pakistan, the Pakistani nation and the entire Islamic world.' She highlighted, 'Muharram-ul-Haram also reminds us of the great martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The message of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) encourages the oppressed of every era and challenges the oppressor.' She urged, 'There should be no differences and divisions in Muharram-ul-Haram and we should adopt tolerance. The Punjab government has made extraordinary arrangements to ensure an atmosphere of peace and security in Muharram-ul-Haram.' She outlined, 'Those who spread hatred and sectarianism on social media will be dealt with an iron hand. The Punjab government has imposed a complete ban on drone coverage in gatherings and processions during Muharram-ul-Haram, stern action will be taken against any violation.
