A plane crash in Brescia, Italy, killed pilot Sergio Ravaglia and partner Ann Maria De Stefano. The Freccia RG ultralight aircraft crashed onto a highway, causing a fire.
Tragedy struck in northern Italy when a small plane crashed onto a highway in Brescia on Tuesday, claiming the lives of two individuals. The deceased have been identified as Sergio Ravaglia, a 75-year-old lawyer and pilot from Milan, and his partner, Ann Maria De Stefano, 60.
The devastating crash occurred when the Freccia RG ultralight aircraft plummeted nose-first onto a Brescia highway, sparking a massive fire and billowing thick black smoke. Dramatic footage captured the moment of impact, showing the plane hurtling towards the pavement at high speed before crashing.
According to the authorities, Ravaglia was attempting an emergency landing on the highway but was unable to regain control of the plane, which then spun out and crashed, NDTV reported.
Due to the explosion, two motorists were also injured but survived. Several vehicles were seen near the burning wreckage as drivers attempted to avoid the crash site.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene, but the aircraft was beyond salvage, consumed by flames that left it destroyed. The Freccia RG, an Italian-made ultralight plane constructed from carbon fibre with a wingspan of approximately 30 feet, was reduced to smouldering wreckage.
Italy's National Agency for Flight Safety is sending a consultant to Brescia to support the investigation. The Brescia Public Prosecutor's Office has launched a manslaughter investigation into the crash, with authorities set to scrutinise the plane's maintenance records and mechanical condition as part of their probe.

Salman Khan's Minor Fans From Delhi Go Missing Trying To Meet Actor, Found By Police In Nashik

Three minor boys from Delhi ran away to meet Salman Khan in Mumbai after chatting online with an scammer who alleged he knew the superstar. In a surprising turn of events, three minor schoolboys aged 9, 11, and 13 vanished from their homes in Delhi, driven by their love for Salman Khan. They believed they had arranged a meeting in Jalna after chatting online with a boy named Wahid, who claimed he knew the superstar. Their mysterious disappearance sparked a lot of concern, a missing-person report and a four-day search before they were safely traced in Nashik. The boys left on July 25 without warning their families. A handwritten note discovered at one of their homes offered the first clue: they planned to meet Wahid in Jalna. CCTV footage then confirmed they travelled via Ajmeri Gate station – pointing authorities to the Sachkhand Express bound for Maharashtra. When police involvement made Wahid nervous, he stopped communicating. The boys cut short their journey to Jalna midway, getting off in Nashik instead. Though direct contact with Wahid fell through, slight phone activity helped the police narrow down their location. Four days after they disappeared, railway police and local authorities in Maharashtra found them safe at a Nashik station. Not long back, during a chat with Kapil Sharma on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Salman Khan opened up on a trespasser at his home, Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai's Bandstand area.'Yes, something like that recently happened. There were security guards outside. A woman told them she wanted to head up to the fourth floor, and she entered. She rang the doorbell, and our servant opened the door. The servant was shocked because the lady said, 'Salman called me over.' Obviously, the servant saw her and was sure I definitely didn't call her. She was a fan, so she was escorted out," Salman said. She managed to slip past guards, but was eventually intercepted. The breach came shortly after another security incident on May 20, when a man from Chhattisgarh was caught trying to enter the building stealthily. Police later confirmed the attempted break-in. Security around Salman's home has been heightened significantly in recent months. In January 2024, major upgrades were made, including installing bulletproof glass on the balcony, high-tech CCTV systems, and razor wire fencing around the building. He told the Lok Sabha that the communications and home ministries have taken four to five major measures to deal with cyber crimes. The Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) brings various stakeholders together. It has coopted 620 institutions, including 570 banks, police institutions of 36 states and investigating agencies, Scindia said during the Question Hour. Vedas protects those who nurture it, says Justice GR Swaminathan

Chennai, Jul 30 (PTI) When Vedas are protected, it will guard those who nurture it and a court verdict brought him that realisation, Madras High Court Judge, Justice GR Swaminathan has said. Recounting an incident and a related court case, which he said changed his perspective, the judge said a Vedic scholar was convicted and sentenced to 18 months imprisonment in a motor vehicle accident case which involved the death of a man. The judge recounted the incident while addressing a national Vedic talent meet held by a trust here last week. A video clip of the judge's address is now available in the social media. The scholar, a 'Shastri' (one who is well versed in Shastras and Vedas, a Vaidika Brahmin) was his long time friend and at that time, Justice Swaminathan said he was a practising lawyer. Recalling, the judge said one day, the Shastri, alongwith another friend came to meet him and when he was told that the Vedic scholar was convicted and given prison sentence, he could not believe it. Elaborating, the judge said the Vedic pundit's sister had come to India on a visit from America. Alongwith her children and scholar brother, she visited temples and she drove the car. It was not clear what happened and the car hit a man in front of tea stall and he died. The shastri's sister had to leave for US and hence, the scholar claimed to have negligently driven the car and surrendered to police. Trial was held in the case and the shastri was sentenced to 18 months in jail. The judge said in such cases six months jail sentence is common. The shastri used to visit court in full traditional attire (dhoti and upper cloth besides sporting a tuft) and the scholar told him that he was sentenced to 18 months in jail due to that dress. When he perused case papers he found that not even one witness had identified the person who drove the vehicle. Also, none identified the Vedic scholar in the court. There was no witness against the scholar. Justice Swaminathan said he took up that case as he was then a practising lawyer and went on an appeal. 'We took up this single point and argued in the appeal court," Justice Swaminathan said, adding it was the good time of the shastri that the judge who heard the appeal was his classmate. Eventually, shastri was acquitted as there was no evidence against him. 'That day I realised that when we protect Vedas, Vedas will protect us and I realised it. Till then, I did not have a keen interest in such matters. Think, at least one witness could have said that shastri drove the car. Not even one said that." All the eight witness said the car ran amok, hit the man and he died, Justice Swaminathan recalled.
