Moonbug Study Reveals the Best Way Ads Can Interact With Parents
A recent study by Moonbug Entertainment revealed how a two-parent household, featuring a father and a mother, interprets ad relevance. The company, known for its CoComelon and Blippi YouTube channels, is owned by Candle Media, which also owns Hello Sunshine, founded by Reese Witherspoon. Areas of interest within the study included ad interaction, the platforms on which they mostly encounter these ads, and how they engage with them. The responses from the two types of parents could not be more varied, with mothers being more selective and values-driven, while fathers are more open to a broader range of ad categories. However, one common trait is that parents need ads to show them being more than caregivers, with only 26% of them feeling that brands effectively convey that message. One of the key findings from the Moonbug study revealed that a dual-path strategy is necessary when addressing this household dynamic. The strategy needs to engage fathers to increase reach, as they take the lead in product discovery across nearly every channel. The study found that 65% of fathers use YouTube daily to find products, compared to 44% of mothers. Fathers are also active on Instagram, blogs, TikTok, and at in-person demonstrations. Meanwhile, a resonance and conversion strategy should be employed when targeting mothers, as they are the primary decision-makers in these matters. They are typically the ones who make the final decisions, being perceived as the gatekeepers within the household and having the ultimate say based on their values, emotions, and household fit. 'What we're seeing is that dads are out there actively exploring-scrolling through YouTube, Instagram, even deep-diving into parenting blogs to find the latest products,' Moonbug head of brand partnerships Dan'l Hewitt told ADWEEK. 'Meanwhile, moms are playing the gatekeeper role, deciding what actually makes it into the home based on trust, emotional resonance, and real relevance to their family's needs,' he continued. 'Brands that understand and respect this balance have a real opportunity to build lasting connections with modern families.' Other findings from the study include the themes used in ads that capture parents' attention, with 43% of parents stating that family values messaging attracts them. Meanwhile, 42% identify with calm, peaceful visuals, especially appealing after high-stimulation kid content, while 39% connect with real parenting situations, such as bedtime chaos, power struggles, and emotional reconnection. Finally, practical parenting solutions will likely see a response from 37% of parents. Understandably, parents would prefer that content they encounter or interact with can be watched with their children, as this opens up additional opportunities for shared experiences. This type of content includes fare that builds shared rituals, such as jokes, references, and routines, generating post-viewing conversations and offline play, and the content should reflect family dynamics, not just kid-focused plotlines. Beyoncé closes out Washington D.C.-area concerts with high-powered show: 'Ya'll lit'
Beyoncé Knowles-Carter closed out her "Cowboy Carter" concerts in the Washington, D.C. area, and the grand finale was filled with grand outfits and a power-packed performance. The Grammy-winning singer kicked off her final show at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland — five miles east of Washington, D.C — around 8:25 p.m local time on July 7. The concert marked her second of two shows at the stadium on her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour. "Hello!" Beyoncé greeted the electric crowd, donning a new head-turning look: a dazzling red, white, and blue fringe bodysuit paired with sparkly, knee-high red fringe boots and a fluffy, floor-length white coat. She first launched her DMV area stint with a dazzling performance on the Fourth of July. The holiday made for an especially significant night given the the messages and motifs pertaining to country music, America's complex past and its ongoing cultural reckoning. And Beyoncé kept the momentum going during Monday's show. The crowd's energy amplified the night. During Beyoncé's 'Ya Ya' performance she told the explosive crowd, 'Y'all lit,' after they followed up her call-and-response segment with a crisp reply. As fans know, Beyoncé first debuted her "Cowboy Carter" tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 28 with 39 songs on the set list. Her shows have been filled with family, fashion, different music genres, and most notably country music and cultural commentary. Of course, the tour has been a huge showcase of fashion and creativity. Each night, Beyoncé continues to blend high fashion and cowboy couture, keeping fans on the edge of their seats as they anticipate a new look. There's been many looks incorporating Western-glam: sparkly chaps, cowboy hats, boots and piles of fringe. During the July 7 show, fashion was at the forefront once again as Beyoncé debuted many new looks. THE "COWBOY CARTER" IN GOLD ON HER BELLY? AN EAT😭😭😭 — 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘆🫧💚 (@beyoncegarden) July 8, 2025 Many of them were a nod to the album's message and the album itself. 'I thank you from the depths of me. Y'all have no idea how much you feed us,' she said as she closed out the final show in the area. "We love you, D.C." NOT THIS LOOK DIPPING INTO THE ALBUM COVERS NACHOS OMFG AN EATERY😭😭😭 — 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘆🫧💚 (@beyoncegarden) July 8, 2025 Of course, Beyoncé first released her eighth studio album, "Cowboy Carter," in March 2024. It has since made history and broken multiple records. As Beyoncé's first country album, she deliberately featured country legends and emerging Black country artists alike. She became the first Black woman to win best country album at the 2025 Grammys and also took home album of the year. Her next stop will be Atlanta on July 10. The nine-city tour will span the U.S. and Europe with the grand finale taking place in Las Vegas on July 26. I Can't Stop Shopping the Amazon Prime Day Exercise Dresses Deals
Even though I love dressing up on the daily, I can't lie, I have my lazy days. Sue me! Just because I'm a shopping editor and die-hard fashion girlie doesn't mean I'm not a regular human who'd rather roll out of bed and live in comfort over squeezing into a pair of tight jeans. And trust me, you've got plenty to choose from. Whether you're into pleated skirts, criss-cross straps, zip-up fronts, or bold colorblocking, there's a style (or five) for you.
