'Nobody takes Rahul Gandhi seriously anymore because of the negativity he, his colleagues, and his party consistently spread. They have lost the confidence of the people of India, who have time and again rejected the Congress. Till today, they have not been able to come up with any positive agenda for the development of the nation...' Goyal said, speaking to the reporters here.
He further stated that India negotiated keeping in mind the national interests, further stating that the country was self-confident and could compete with anyone in the world.
'India does not negotiate under deadlines; we negotiate keeping national interests in mind. National interest is paramount in all our work across the world... Today, India negotiates with a position of strength; we are self-confident and can compete with anyone in the world. This is not the India under UPA rule, which would beg for negotiations not under national interest...' he further added.
Earlier today, Rahul Gandhi, reacting to Piyush Goyal's statement on India entering trade deals, stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will 'meekly bow' to theTrump tariff deadlines, referring to the India-US trade deal.
Rahul Gandhi referenced a media report and wrote on X, 'Piyush Goyal can beat his chest all he wants, mark my words, Modi will meekly bow to the Trump tariff deadline.'
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday emphasised that India will only enter into trade agreements, including the proposed US Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), when they serve the country's national interests and offer mutual benefits.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 16th Toy Biz B2B expo in New Delhi, Goyal made it clear that India's approach to international trade negotiations remains firm and principled.
'It should be a win-win agreement, and only when India's interests are safeguarded -- national interest will always be supreme -- and keeping that in mind, if a good deal is formed, India is always ready to engage with developed countries,' the minister stated. Goyal emphasised that India negotiates on its terms.
The minister revealed that India is currently engaged in trade discussions with multiple countries across different continents.
'Discussions are ongoing with various countries -- be it the European Union, New Zealand, Oman, the US, Chile, or Peru. Talks about agreements are underway with many nations,' he said.
However, Goyal stressed that the multiplicity of negotiations does not mean India is in a rush to conclude deals.
'A Free Trade Agreement is only possible when there is mutual benefit,' he explained. 'India never enters into trade deals based on deadlines or time pressure. A deal is accepted only when it is fully matured, well-negotiated, and in the national interest,' Goyal stated..
This approach reflects India's confidence in its negotiating position and its commitment to securing favourable terms for its economy and businesses. (ANI)

Telangana minister hits back at BJP over its party state chief's letter to CM
Hyderabad: Telangana Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday slammed the state BJP leaders for writing letters to the state government over its alleged failures. Day after newly-appointed BJP state president Ramchander Rao wrote a letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alleging non-fulfilment of promises made by the Congress party, the minister launched a counter-attack with an open reply to the BJP. Ponnam Prabhakar said that it's ironic that those who "failed" to get even one paisa for the state from the Centre, were writing letters to them. He described the BJP government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a "mega failure". He alleged that the BJP backtracked on all the promises made to people in the last three elections. The minister said that the BJP government has a long list of "failures". "It's laughable that leaders of such a party are writing letters to the chief minister," he said. "Apart from making grand promises, inciting hatred, and spreading lies, you have done nothing. Farmers, youth, women, the poor, SC, ST, BC, minorities... you have a history of deceiving every section of society. If we write about your failures, it would be as long as the Ramayana; if we listen, it would be as vast as the Mahabharata,' the minister told the BJP leader in his response on 'X'. The Congress leader listed out the promises made by the BJP in the elections which were never fulfilled. These include a monthly pension for small and marginal farmers above 60 years of age, increasing to Rs 6,000 annual Kisan Samman Nidhi for farmers' crop investment support, filling 10 lakh vacancies in the government, Rs 15 lakh to every household and two crore jobs annually. "What have you done for Telangana in 11 years? Not a single rupee has come to Telangana. What have you, or the 8 BJP MPs and two Union Ministers from this state, done?," he asked. Prabhakar asked the BJP leaders about their stance on Prime Minister Modi's statement in Parliament, allegedly criticising the formation of Telangana state. The minister came down heavily on the BJP for not fulfilling the commitments made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. He advised the state BJP leaders to write letters to Prime Minister Modi to fulfil the promises made to Telangana. The Congress leader said that writing a letter to the Congress government formed one and a half years ago, and asking it to do everything in a short period reflects the "blind hatred" of BJP leaders.

5 key triggers for Sensex, Nifty next week; India-US trade deal, Q1 earnings, FPI flows
The Indian stock market is poised for a volatile week as multiple global and domestic cues unfold simultaneously. The top factors influencing investor sentiment include the anticipated India-US trade deal, the kick-off of Q1 FY26 earnings, foreign capital flows, monsoon progress, and the release of the US Federal Reserve's June meeting minutes. During the week ended July 4, both the Nifty 50 and Sensex slipped 0.70%, snapping their two-week winning streak. Profit-booking, foreign capital outflows, and uncertainty over trade negotiations between India and the US weighed on the indices. According to Ajit Mishra, SVP at Religare Broking, "Investors are cautious ahead of global trade deadlines and earnings. A potential interim trade agreement between India and the US may limit downside risks, but clear outcomes are crucial." While large-cap indices corrected, mid- and small-cap segments continued their upward march. The Nifty Midcap 100 gained 0.5%, and the Smallcap 100 rose 0.3%, showing resilience amid broader volatility. Here are 5 major triggers for the markets in the coming week: 1. India-US Trade Deal The unresolved trade pact between India and the US remains a top market trigger. With US President Donald Trump's July 9 deadline approaching, investor anxiety is growing. Although Indian negotiators returned from Washington last week, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal reiterated that India will not commit to any deal unless it serves the national interest. A breakthrough could boost export-heavy sectors such as IT, pharma, and auto components. In contrast, any deadlock may dent near-term sentiment. 2. Q1 FY26 Earnings Season India Inc's Q1 results will start rolling in this week. IT bellwether TCS and Tata Elxsi will release their earnings on July 10, followed by DMart on July 11. Investors will watch closely for growth guidance, margin trends, and demand commentary, which will likely set the tone for sectoral momentum. 3. Monsoon Progress India's southwest monsoon has shown healthy progress, with cumulative June rainfall exceeding the long-period average by nearly 9%. Improved monsoon activity is aiding kharif crop sowing, which is up by 11% year-on-year. With the IMD forecasting active rainfall over the next week, monsoon trends will continue to be a crucial macroeconomic monitor for inflation and rural demand. 4. Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI) Trends So far in July, FPIs have pulled out ₹5,773 crore from Indian equities amid uncertainty and valuation concerns. Experts suggest that clarity on the trade deal and robust Q1 earnings could reverse this trend. According to VK Vijayakumar of Geojit Financial, "A breakthrough in India-US trade talks and strong corporate earnings could revive FPI interest." 5. US Fed Minutes Global markets will keep a close watch on the minutes of the US Federal Reserve's June 17–18 meeting. These insights will offer clues on the Fed's stance regarding inflation and potential interest rate cuts. Though a September rate cut is still expected, recent jobs data hint at a resilient labor market, possibly delaying policy easing. Fed Chair Jerome Powell has stated that the inflationary impact of tariffs may start appearing in the coming months, suggesting a cautious Fed in the near term.
