Jordan Botelho looks to be healthy for Notre Dame's 2026 season
It was an unfortunate 2024 season for Notre Dame football edge rusher Jordan Botelho, who had extremely high hopes entering the year.
The Hawaiian looked to be heading towards a breakout season, only to suffer a season-ending injury against Purdue. Through the first three games of the year, Botelho had 12 tackles and a sack, but numerous pressures even if he wasn't quite getting the quarterback down.
The right patella tendon rupture wasn't how he envisioned his season going, but after announcing that he'll return to South Bend for another year, he's taking his rehab extremely seriously. In a video he shared to his social media account, it very much looks like Botelho will be fully healthy to begin the year.
He looks to be running well, lifting big weights and getting his agility back after missing the majority of this past season. Notre Dame needs some of its edge rushers to set up this coming fall, and Botelho could be one of them.

It's not hard for Notre Dame fans to envision Walton being strong enough to break tackles if he can squat 600 pounds. This news adds to the overall impressiveness of the Fighting Irish's recruiting class. Check it out below. Big Ten media preseason poll: Preston Stone won't be enough for David Braun's Wildcats
released their 15th annual Preseason Big Ten Football Rankings Monday morning, naming Penn State the top contender for the first time. The Nittany Lions, who haven't won the conference title since 2016, received 11 of 25 first-place votes and will rely heavily on third-year starting quarterback Drew Allar. A strong quarterback will make or break a handful of Big Ten programs this season, including David Braun's Northwestern Wildcats. Northwestern finished No. 16 of 18 conference teams last season, with a 4-8 (2-7 Big Ten) record, and this season isn't looking much better. Stephen Means reported Northwestern is expected to finish at No. 17 in conference, above only Purdue. A total of 24 voters participated in the rankings, which began in 2010 when the Big Ten stopped organizing the poll. Northwestern, Purdue, Wisconsin and Maryland all received last-place votes. The ranking is an unfortunate strike against a Wildcat football program that's made a considerable offseason acquisition in Preston Stone. A transfer quarterback out of SMU, Stone signed to play for Braun back in December. However, the addition of an experienced starter wasn't enough to boost voters' expectations for Northwestern this season, given other factors at play. 📲 Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp The Wildcats' 20-athlete 2025 recruiting class is ranked No. 17 in the Big Ten and No. 66 nationally, though none are four- or five-star recruits, per 247Sports. This season, Northwestern is set for tough road games against Tulane, Penn State and Illinois, as well as challenging home matchups with Oregon and Michigan.

Notre Dame's Niele Ivey wins a gold medal with Team USA at the U19 Women's World Cup
Notre Dame women's basketball coach Niele Ivey, had an interesting summer job, coaching the Women's Under-19 National Team. It's safe to say that coach Ivey did very well, as she led them to win a gold medal with Team USA at the U19 Women's World Cup in the Czech Republic on Sunday. Team USA, led by head coach Teri Moren, defeated Australia 88-76, claiming its fourth consecutive gold medal in the event. Saniyah Hall was named the MVP after stellar play on both ends of the court. She led the U.S. in scoring (19.9 ppg) and ranked third overall in scoring. For the tournament, she ranked fourth in steals per game (2.9) and eighth in blocks per game (1.1). She finished the week with four games of 20-plus points. Sienna Betts recorded another double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and joined Hall on the All-Star Five following a week with five double-doubles over seven games. She ranked second among all players in rebounds per game (10.0) and recorded 14.6 points per game. Coach Ivey added a second gold medal to her resume as an assistant with USA Basketball. Last summer, Ivey earned her first gold with the program while serving as an assistant at the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup in Colombia. Earlier this month, ND's All-American junior guard Hannah Hidalgo helped USA claim gold at the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2025. It's been a busy summer for the Irish, and hopefully all this winning translated over into the season.
