Local councillor Baby Pereppadan from Fine Gael, who visited the victim, told the Irish Independent that the man was still in 'shock' and unable to speak much. "He is not taking any visitors," he added, calling for increased police presence in the area. 'Small incidents like these are happening frequently in Tallaght,' he said.
Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South-West, Seán Crowe, also condemned the incident, describing it as 'vile and utterly unacceptable'.
'Anyone who thinks this sort of mindless, racist violence makes their community safer is lying and fooling no one,' he told the Irish Independent. Crowe added that such attacks leave both newcomers and long-time residents afraid to go outside. 'This is not the first such attack in our area, but it has to be the last,' he said.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Gardaí as investigations continue.

Key accused in Shine City fraud case held
Lucknow: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Wednesday arrested Tej Narayan Shukla, a key accused in the multi-crore Shine City group of companies fraud case, from Mathura. Shukla was wanted in case number 900/2020, registered under sections 409, 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120B of the IPC at Gomtinagar police station. A cash reward of ₹25,000 was announced for any information leading to his arrest. Officials stated that Shukla faces over 10 criminal cases related to cheating and financial fraud. EOW officials confirmed that Shukla faces two more cases (887/2021 and 888/2021), also registered at Gomtinagar police station, for which non-bailable warrants were issued. According to investigators, Shukla served as the president of a 'Bahubali' team within Shine City group and played a major role in luring investors with fraudulent schemes promising high returns. After the fraud came to light, Shukla fled India along with the company's prime accused Rashid Naseem and was later apprehended in Nepal. He reportedly spent 30 days in Nepal police custody before being tracked down by Indian authorities. "Shukla is a significant link in the larger conspiracy led by Rashid Naseem," an EOW officer said, adding that further interrogation is underway to uncover more details about the group's operations and the movement of siphoned funds.

FIR after sandalwood tree found stolen from NBRI premises
Lucknow: A sandalwood tree was stolen from the premises of the CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (CSIR-NBRI), one of India's premier research institutions under the ministry of science and technology. The incident came to light on Wednesday. An FIR was registered at Hazratganj police station following the theft, which occurred inside the institute's garden block on Rana Pratap Marg. According to the complaint lodged by Hare Ram Kushwaha, controller of administration at CSIR-NBRI, the incident took place on July 16, between 8 pm and 8 pm. Unidentified miscreants allegedly cut down a sandalwood tree and made off with a trunk measuring around 4.5 to 5 feet in length, with estimated worth of Rs 50,000 in Indian market. The theft came to light when Nem Singh, supervisor of the previous security agency, informed security in-charge Jyoti Tandon about the missing tree. At the time of the incident, security guard Ashu Khare, deployed by Ex-Servicemen Security Services, was on duty.
