10 motorways closed the MOST in England in 2025 so far including infamous junction used by over 50,000 drivers daily
ENGLAND'S most closure-prone roads have been revealed – with the notorious M6 stretch between junctions 6 and 7 near Birmingham taking the top spot in 2025 so far. Freedom of Information data obtained by Co-op Insurance shows that the busy route has experienced the highest number of shut-downs so far this year. 5 5 5 5 5 The section, located in the West Midlands and known as the Spaghetti Junction, has been closed 29 times since January. Connecting the M6 with the A38(M) Aston Expressway and other local roads like the A38 and A5127, the junction is famous for its complex, multi-level design. It also features numerous slip roads, a roundabout - Salford Circus - and elevated roadways. The nickname "Spaghetti' was reportedly coined by a Birmingham Evening Mail journalist in the 1970s, due to the junction's complex network of intertwining roads. This causes significant issues for thousands of drivers, with data showing some 50,000 cars use the M6 toll each day, although the M6 itself is known to carry more traffic, with a section near Wolverhampton said to take some 180,000. Coming in just behind it in the ranking is junctions 37 to 38 on the A1M near Doncaster, while the M1 between junctions 23a and 24 near East Midlands Airport is in third place. Road closures are serious bad news for drivers as they lead to an increase in journey times – which, in turn, means much more stress and frustration. This, of course, can impair driving performance and safety, raising the risk of accidents and incidents occurring. Paul Evans, Head of Motor at Co-op Insurance, said: 'From commuting to leisure trips and visiting loved ones, our motorway network is a vital part of so many people's daily journeys. 'However, our findings suggest that getting from A to B via the motorway can sometimes be less than straightforward, with road closures seemingly on the rise and particularly common on certain stretches of motorway. The Nottingham road where speeding is so bad that people are selling their houses 'We're therefore urging drivers to plan their journeys carefully before they set off so that they can be prepared for any road closures, avoid rushed or panicked decisions and safely navigate diversions.' The motoring experts also found which motorways closed the most throughout 2024 – having found that motorway road closures rose by 18% last year. The number recorded by National Highways in England increased to more than 6,870, with incidents of total closures of both carriageways rising by 14% to just over 280. When it came to the roads worst affected by closures, they found that junction 63 of the A1M at Chester-Le-Street was closed the most – with a sizeable tally of 127. This was followed by the M53 at junction eight northbound in Ellesmere Port and the M6 between junction 21 and 21a in Warrington. Indeed, four out of the top 10 junction locations with the highest number of road closures in 2024 were in Yorkshire – with three on the M621 in Leeds. Elsewhere, three of the top 10 were in Cheshire, with two on the M53.

Iconic carmaker recalls over 60,000 motors due to ‘leaking brake fluid' that could spark fire
AN URGENT recall on thousands of motors has been issued by an iconic car manufacturer due to a fire hazard. General Motors has recalled over 62,000 of its trucks due to potential brake fluid to leak and spark fire. 2 2 It is in relation to three models of trucks between the years 2019 to 2024. This includes the Chevrolet Silverado Medium Duty 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD models. In a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, General Motors warned: "The brake pressure sensor assembly may leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch and cause a short circuit." This means the circuit is at an increased "risk of a fire while driving or parked" if the electrical short overheats. There is subsequently a possibility of an under-hood fire igniting if the vehicle is unattended to turned off. The defect has been linked to a supplier using an unauthorised chemical in the assembly of the brakes, which causes them to degrade over time. However, General Motors suggest only one per cent of the recalled vehicles are expected to have the defect. Letters to owners of the vehicles notifying them of the issue can expect to be mailed today, with another to be sent once the fixtures are ready. Owners with the recalled models are advised to park vehicles outside and away from homes or buildings until their they get them checked. General Motors dealers are also providing the necessary repairs and fixtures to the recalled vehicles at no cost. This includes free replacements of the brake pressure switch wire harness. Any customers with further questions are urged to contact GM headquarters, which are located in Detroit, Michigan. This recall comes just months after General Motors also issued a recall of nearly 600,000 of its Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles due to potential engine problems. Manufacturing defects in these vehicles' connecting rod and potentially crankshaft engine components was the cause of the recall in April.

MegaRexx Builds a $180K Diesel Super Truck Based on Ford F-250
There are plenty of off-road trucks on the market right now, each catering to a different kind of buyer. If you want an electric truck with hipster vibes, there's the Rivian R1T. If you're after a tough-looking daily driver, the F-150 Raptor fits the bill. And if you want something to match your stainless steel kitchen, Tesla offers the Cybertruck. But if you're chasing something unhinged, something so over-the-top it makes everything else look tame, MegaRexx has exactly what you're after. Who Is MegaRexx? MegaRexx Ford Super Duty F-250 — Source: MegaRexx MegaRexx, a brand under Signature Autosports, builds the kind of trucks you draw while daydreaming in your school notebooks. Their specialty is taking Ford's Super Duty lineup and transforming it into something that looks like it escaped from a Baja race. They typically start with an F-250 Tremor and go wild with it — lifting the suspension even more, swapping in wider bodywork, and making everything look and feel more trophy truck-like. In essence, it's like giving the Super Duty the Raptor treatment, then tossing in a little extra just for fun. Under The Skin MegaRexx Ford Super Duty F-250 — Source: MegaRexx Believe it or not, MegaRexx doesn't mess around much with the drivetrain. Instead of the standard gas-powered 7.3-liter V8, they opt for Ford's 6.7-liter High Output Power Stroke V8 turbo-diesel, which makes 500 horsepower and a ridiculous 1,200 lb-ft of torque. The 10-speed automatic transmission and both differentials are left mostly untouched, apart from a new 4.88:1 gear ratio to help put all that power through its even larger wheels and tires. Upgraded Suspension MegaRexx Ford Super Duty F-250 — Source: MegaRexx Its suspension, on the other hand, gets a very unnecessary, but undoubtedly cool, overhaul. The truck sits 4.5 inches taller than an ordinary Super Duty, and just about every suspension component gets a high-performance replacement. Fox Racing supplies remote-reservoir shocks and track rods. Icon provides new 4.5-inch coil springs up front, leaf springs out back, and a set of steering stabilizers. MegaRexx even fabricates the radius arms themselves. The result isn't just more ground clearance; it should also handle better than you'd expect from something this humongous. Not Just A Tough-Looking Face MegaRexx Ford Super Duty F-250 — Source: MegaRexx But the cherry on this all-terrain conquering Super Duty is its wheels, tires, and bodywork. With ZXL Michelin tires nearly twice as tall as the smallest person in the world (yes, we fact-checked that), measuring at 46 inches, and 20-inch three-piece aluminum wheels typically used by military trucks, it's a bona fide off-road monster. To accommodate its newfound girth, MegaRexx crafts wider fiberglass body panels that widen the Super Duty by 18 inches. Obligatory steel bumpers at the front and rear, complemented by LED light bars on each side, electronic side-steps, and a metal skid plate, round off the upgrades. What It Costs To Look This Cool MegaRexx Ford Super Duty F-250 — Source: MegaRexx None of this comes cheap. A base Ford Super Duty F-250 starts at around $45,000, and that number climbs quickly once you add the $12,995 torque-healthy diesel engine and the $4,500 Tremor Off-Road package. A well-optioned factory F-250 can push past $100,000. MegaRexx takes things much, much further, with this particular build, finished in Rapid Red Metallic. They call it the F250 Original Super Duty Crew Cab, and it's priced at a steep $179,950. That's a lot of money for a truck, but it's also a lot of truck. If your dream is a go-anywhere diesel beast that towers over traffic, MegaRexx might be your kind of crazy. About the Author Marnus Moolman View Profile
