Brit gangster pictured for first time in years - he spent £1,000s to change face
Steven Lyons, who has been living abroad for nearly 20 years, has changed his appearance by getting 'extensive cosmetic work done' including Botox, a source said Scottish crime boss Steven Lyons has been pictured for the first time after allegedly spending thousands of pounds changing his appearance. Lyons, 44, has had fillers, Botox and dental treatment, the new snaps - the first pictures of him in a decade - show. The snaps also show his friend Ross Monaghan, who was shot dead alongside Eddie Lyons Jnr in a bar in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol in Spain on May 31, while they attended a festive party in the United Arab Emirates in December. In 2006, the head of the Lyons crime gang fled Scotland for Spain after being shot twice - he then moved to Dubai. As photos of him emerged, a source said he has had extensive facial treatments. Speaking to the Daily Record, the source said: "Steven has made millions since he fled Scotland, albeit he recently lost a couple of large consignments. So getting extensive cosmetic work done is no issue. "His cheeks have very noticeably been pumped full of filler. He's had regular Botox on his forehead and around his eyes. And his teeth would give Katie Price's a run for their money." It is estimated that a single treatment of cheek fillers can cost around £1,000 in the UAE, while forehead Botox costs about £200 per session. The treatment needs to be continued every six months to maintain the look. Dental work runs into thousands of pounds depending on the nature of the treatment. Before these photos emerged, the last widely circulated image of Steven was taken in 2008. In one of the new images, Lyons can be seen standing with two associates. In the photo, he appears to be protecting his leg which was blasted during an assassination bid in 2006. The source said: "Steven's leg has not been the same since he was shot. It was broken and he was in plaster for 12 weeks. He struggles to walk comfortably and has to go downstairs in a weird way." Another image shows Lyons smiling while leaning over a friend for a selfie. The pal also posed in another photo with Monaghan. Lyons, the son of former boss Eddie Lyons Snr, is understood to still be the head of the Lyons family despite fleeing Scotland almost two decades ago, according to the Record. The publication also reported that Lyons didn't attend the funeral of Monaghan, 43, and his brother last week over fears he would be targeted by hitmen. The insider said: "Eyebrows have been raised about Steven not going to the funeral of his own brother and best pal. He didn't return for his sister's either back in 2020 so it wasn't a huge surprise though. There was a livestream link so he watched it on that. With everything that's been going on and the warning issued it was too big of a risk for him to return."

Jet2 holiday horror glass balcony accident left girl with permanent scars
"I heard the bang" and then saw Mya "still in the door with glass stuck in her, screaming." A young girl who suffered horror wounds after crashing through a glass balcony door at a Canary Islands resort on a Jet2 holiday has received a five-figure payout. Hudgell Solicitors pursued legal action against the popular airline and holiday firm on behalf of Mya Mullin's family. Maya was just five years old when she sustained deep cuts and permanent scarring in the 2018 accident on Gran Canaria, the Mirror reports. Solicitors argued that the door did not comply with Spanish safety regulations and accused Jet2 of neglecting its duty of care to the holidaymakers from the West Midlands. While Jet2 did not accept responsibility, it opted for an out-of-court settlement, paying "five-figure" compensation to now 12-year-old Mya, according to the law firm. The Mullins were enjoying a package holiday provided by Jet2 at the Hotel Lago Taurito when Mya mistakenly ran into the closed sliding glass door of their apartment terrace. Her father, Neil Mullin, recounted the harrowing moment:"I heard the bang" and then saw Mya "still in the door with glass stuck in her, screaming." He described the ordeal: "Seeing my child stuck there with the glass embedded and then holding her stomach wound together for about 30 minutes until the ambulance arrived, it really affected all of us. "It was just neglect. You book a holiday for your family and you expect a room that is safe for you and your children, but it didn't look like any recent safety checks had been done. I think Jet2 failed their customers." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. Mr Mullin stated that taking legal action against Jet2 "wasn't about the money", but rather an effort to hold the company accountable for providing accommodation that was "a death trap". Mya had to be rushed to a hospital in Las Palmas for surgery on her stomach and leg injuries. Anne Thomson, a specialist in travel accidents at Hudgell Solicitors, said: "Package holiday tour operators have a duty of care to their customers no matter where in the world you travel. "They are responsible for ensuring your safety at your accommodation and that the facilities and services provided meet a satisfactory standard so they are safe. In this case we argued that they had failed." A representative for Jet2 said: "We can confirm that we have reached a settlement in relation to an incident which occurred in 2018. The health and safety of our customers is extremely important to us and we would like to reiterate how sorry we are about this incident."

Cat travels 400-miles in minibus engine before ending up at Scots coach depot
The furry feline leapt out at Park's of Hamilton Depot in Blantyre after the bus arrived from South Mimms Service in Herfordshire England - over 373 miles away. A cat has travelled almost 400 miles next to a mini-bus engine before being found at a Scots coach depot. The furry feline leapt out at Park's of Hamilton Depot in Blantyre after the bus had arrived from South Mimms Service in Herfordshire England on July 7, over 373 miles away. As Glasgow Live reports, the female cat could have also snuck into the vehicle when it stopped off at Norton Canes Services and Lancaster Services. The driver made the shocking discovery when he opened the bonnet. Now the 'lucky' girl is in the care of Cats Protection and after a couple of days snooping around Blantyre is staying at the charity's Kirkintilloch shelter. The charity have launched a desperate appeal to try and locate the owners of the well travelled pet. The team say the cat is not microchipped and is quite distinctive with a white coat and black and brown markings. They say they whoever comes forward will require photographic evidence to claim the cat back. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! A social media post on Scotland Cat Centre reads: "We are going to need some help with this post! We believe this wee lady has travelled quite a distance as she was found in a minibus engine that arrived back in Glasgow after travelling from South Mimms services, also stopping at Norton Canes services and Lancaster services "When the bus arrived back at Parks of Hamilton Depot in Blantyre, she jumped out of the engine when the driver opened it and stuck around for a couple days until she could be brought to our centre this was on the 7th July so only a couple days ago! "Please please share, it would be a miracle if we could get her reunited with an owner, sadly she is not microchipped, she is quite distinctive, please note photographic evidence is required to claim a cat back If you think you can reunite this little lady with her owners, you can email enquiries@ or call +44 141 779 3341.
