Reece Walsh takes a cheeky dig at 'rivalry' rumours between himself and a Brisbane Broncos team-mate following heated on-field exchange
The pair were later seen making up and shaking hands following the heated altercation.
Adam Reynolds and Michael Maguire later explained they were not bothered by fiery feud, adding it shows the desire of two competitors wanting to win at all costs.
The frosty words came after Walsh had thrown a bullet pass out wide to his centre, that could have set him up for a try with just 30 seconds to go before half-time.
Staggs dropped the ball and Walsh's anguish was immediately evident. The full-back gave the former New South Wales star a chiding over the error, with Staggs responding by raising his hand to calm Walsh.
The Queensland full-back continued to berate his team-mate, staring him down and pointing at him as he voiced his grievances.
Staggs, a member of the Brisbane leadership group, didn't let him off the hook, appearing to fire a few choice words back at Walsh.
Both players enjoyed standout performances on Sunday afternoon, with Staggs being handed the Player of the Match award, making 236m with the ball in hand and 15 tackles.
Walsh, meanwhile, set up Jack Gosiewski for a try before the break, to give Brisbane a 14-2 lead heading into the sheds.
But the pair quickly put the feud behind them. After half-time, Walsh released Staggs out wide, before the centre offloaded the ball back to his team-mate, setting him up for a superb 65m try.
But after the match, Walsh took to social media appearing to rubbish claims of a rivalry between himself and Staggs.
Brisbane had published an image of Staggs on their Instagram account, lauding his stats from the game. They captioned the post: 'The numbers from our POTM.'
The Broncos full-back reposted to his own story and ironically added two 'yawning emojis', implying this was a standard day at the office for his 26-year-old team-mate.
Despite the pair appearing to put their differences aside on the pitch, Fox Footy's cameras caught Walsh fumin again inside the dressing room at half-time.
The Herald Sun reports Walsh's frustrations arose because Brisbane's game plan had been to find space, ship the ball wide early and utilise Staggs' ability to break tackles. But after the move didn't come off, Walsh was left seething.
'We are trying to be perfect out there,' Adam Reynolds said when asked about the heated moment.
'It won't always go to plan.
'But we are adults, we talk about the situation when it happens
'And sure enough, they [Walsh and Staggs] fixed it up and scored a long-range try.
'They are working hard. It's good to have that feedback on the field.'
Broncos boss Maguire also had no problem with the outburst.
'Reecey loves his footy and is continually striving to be the best like all the boys,' Maguire said.
'That's the perfection we're chasing.
'Whether or not it's trying to get the ball early to Kotoni or not, Reecey does wear his heart on his sleeve and that's why we love him.
'At times he will execute something and at other times he will be working out how he gets it done.

BREAKING NEWS Wrexham star rushed to hospital in Sydney after suffering worrying injury as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's men slide to defeat
A Wrexham midfielder was rushed to a local hospital in Australia after the Championship side's second match on their pre-season tour. The Dragons, who finished second in League One last season to earn promotion, were beaten 2-1 by A-League side Sydney FC on Tuesday morning. Wrexham opened the scoring when Corey Holman turned James McClean's wicked delivery into his own net, but his blushes were spared by Alexandar Popovic and James Lacey, who turned the game around for the home side. If the result was not bad enough for the Hollywood-owned club, key midfielder Ollie Rathbone was forced off through injury just before half-time. The 28-year-old landed awkwardly on his left ankle and could be seen on the floor in major discomfort, before managing to hobble off the pitch, aided by medical staff. And now Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has confirmed that Rathbone has been taken to hospital in order to undergo an X-ray to assess the extent of the damage. Rathbone was a key part of Parkinson's squad as they secured promotion last season, featuring a total of 41 times in League One. While he is known for his ability to break up play in the middle of the park, due to his remarkable work rate, the midfielder also pitched in at the top of the pitch, scoring eight goals and providing two assists last term. Wrexham will start their Championship season on the road at Southampton in just over three weeks' time, and Parkinson will have his fingers crossed that Rathbone has not done any significant damage that will rule him out of that fixture. The Welsh side will now travel to New Zealand for the final match of their pre-season tour, where they will face Wellington Phoenix at the Sky Stadium.

Former World Snooker champion Neil Robertson lands new job – and it could affect Ronnie O'Sullivan
NEIL ROBERTSON has landed himself a new job, which could have an impact on snooker rival Ronnie O'Sullivan. Three months after his shock first-round exit at the World Championship, the Aussie has bagged himself a new gig with the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. 2 2 Robertson has been added to the WPBSA's Players' Board, a role which will require him to represent and support players outside of the UK on the World Snooker Tour. A snippet of WPBSA statement read: "It has today been announced that Neil Robertson has been co-opted to join the Board of WPBSA Players with immediate effect. "The 2010 world champion is widely regarded as one of the best long-potters and break-builders in the history of the sport and has won an incredible 25 ranking titles as well as being one of only 11 players in history to complete the Triple Crown. "In 2014, he became the first player to compile over 100 century breaks during a single season. "As the most successful player to ever come from Australia, Robertson's own personal experience as a professional – which includes relocating from his home nation to the UK as a teenager, will help to ensure that the many players from outside of the UK are represented and supported during their time on the World Snooker Tour." Fan favourite Robertson is over the moon with his new gig. He said: "It is an honour to have the opportunity to represent the views and feelings of my fellow professionals. "And to be able to use my own personal experiences to help the next generation of players." Robertson isn't the only player to have recently been handed a gig by the WPBSA. The organisation recently appointed Ben Woollson as their second-ever player-director in June, five months after Mark Davis' appointment. Snooker star Neil Robertson told he could win World Championship again if he ignores Crucible concerns Woollaston said: "I am pleased to join the board of WPBSA Governance and be able to provide representation for player issues at the highest level of our sport. "As a professional snooker player for over 20 years, I have been privileged to see first-hand the development of our sport during that time and to live the highs and lows of competing on the World Snooker Tour. "I look forward to sharing my experience with the team at the WPBSA and to helping shape the future development of our sport, from grassroots level to the professional circuit." Woollaston and Davis will work in conjunction with Nigel Mawer and governance director Nigel Oldfield to oversee the direction the body is taking.
