Anne-Marie didn't want to be left alone in her house amid postnatal anxiety battle

Perth Now15-07-2025
Anne-Marie's postnatal anxiety was "so bad" she didn't want to be left alone following the birth of her first child.
The Baby Don't Hurt Me singer has daughter Seven, 17 months, and a son, two months, with her rapper husband Slowthai.
Following Seven's birth, the 34-year-old star was diagnosed with postnatal anxiety, which she hadn't heard of before, and six months later she went through postnatal depression.
Speaking to Scott Mills on The Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, she said: "I actually had anxiety so bad when I first had Seven and I didn't want to be left alone.
"I was like, 'Don't leave the house, don't go there, don't go there.'
"And I didn't know there was such thing as postnatal anxiety. I only knew about postnatal depression. So I was like, 'Oh, OK, that's a new one.'
"So then I learned all about that, and then I went through postnatal depression. And that was about six months after Seven was born."
Anne-Marie now attends a therapy session once a week, and while she has had a "rollercoaster" relationship with it, therapy has become her "best friend".
She said: "You know what, therapy and me, that's a rollercoaster as well, because I started in lockdown, and I've done it consistently, and then I felt like I was OK, and I stopped doing it.
"And then I made the third album, and I was like, 'I don't need therapy anymore. I'm fine.'
"Then I had Seven and then I was like, 'OK, I'm sorry if you saw any of the interviews where I said I don't need you anymore, can I have you back?!' So now I do it again once a week."
Asked if there was any advice she would give to anyone going through something similar, she said: "Probably speak to someone.
"Because I just felt like, 'Oh, this is just how I'm supposed to feel.'
"Because, you know, my hormones are all over the place, and I'm tired, but my iron was low, so tiredness was coming from my iron deficiency.
"It's like there's so many other options to what it could be than just being you're a mum now, you know, so therapy is my best friend.
"But also tell people, because I never asked for help, and that's why I got so tired, right? And people think that you're sweet, when you're pretending to be OK."
Anne-Marie now feels like her brain is returning to "normal" after being "rewired", and she is "happy again".
She added: "I look different. I feel different. My brain is rewired. I swear everything has changed.
"I just feel like now I'm slowly getting my brain back to normal. Well, it wasn't normal in the first place, bear in mind!
"But it feels like I actually feel happy again. It's weird, because obviously I'm happy that I've had children, and I love them."

Samantha Armytage rejected by former employer Seven after appealing for 2025 Logie Awards role - as her hunky date on the night is revealed

Ex-Sunrise host Samantha Armytage's appeal for a role at the 2025 Logie Awards has reportedly been brutally rejected by her former employer Channel Seven. Armytage, 48, stepped down from Seven last August following 21 years with the network, after she declined a new contract. She was subsequently unveiled as the host of Nine's new dating show The Golden Bachelor in November during the network's annual upfronts. Armytage's former employer has held the broadcasting rights to the annual Logie awards for the past two years. It's during this time viewers have accused the network of favouring their own talent over others. And unfortunately for Armytage, it seems the trend has caught up to her. Sunday Confidential reported Nine put her forward to present an award at the Logies this weekend, however the move was reportedly quickly shut down by organisers of the annual ceremony. It comes as relations between Armytage and Seven appear to have deteriorated after she threw the ultimate dig at her old bosses with an appearance on Sunrise's competitor Today, last October. Armytage took to Instagram stories and shared a selfie alongside Today hosts Karl Stefanovic, Sarah Abo, Alex Cullen, and Jayne Azzopardi. 'This morning, I woke up she captioned the image. Just days earlier, she told 2GB she quit breaky central to helm Farmer Wants a Wife because her career had effectively run its course at Seven. 'I'd had enough, and you know I like a good horse metaphor — I'd ridden it to the top, I'd done all I could do and it was good time to step out," she said. The TV veteran will nevertheless be in attendance at the glitzy Logie Awards evening alongside a handsome date, the Golden Bachelor himself. Armytage and the star of the programme, Barry 'Bear' Myrden, will strut into the event arm in arm in a scene which is sure to cause a media stir. It appears that is the aim of the stunt, according to a The Daily Telegraph insider who said the move will showcase Barry publicly. 'They will use the night to debut Bear for the first time,' the source said. The frosty relations between Amytage and Seven raises the question — who will stand up to accept the award for Best Structured Reality Program if Farmer Wants A Wife were to claim the gong? Armytage fronted the series for three years, including in 2024 when the show also earned a Logies nod. Natalie Gruzlewski reclaimed the hosting reins in 2025, during which time the show was outpaced in the ratings by Nine's popular game show, The Floor. This year, the programme is competing against Ten's Gogglebox Australia, Nine's Married At First Sight, ABC's Muster Dogs: Collies & Kelpies, Ten's Shark Tank Australia Binge/ Foxtel's The Real Housewives of Sydney. Armytage will make her first major return to the spotlight on Sunday after splitting from her husband of four years, Richard Lavender, last December. The news shocked some industry insiders after the TV host quit Sunrise to live at Lavender's 40-hectare estate in NSW's Southern Highlands. It is understood she has since returned to Sydney's eastern suburbs.

Anne Nolan has 'anxieties about dying'

Anne Nolan suffers from anxiety because she's so worried "about dying" after battling cancer and losing two of her sisters to the disease. The Nolans star was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000 and battled it again almost exactly 20 years later but in 2024 she was told she was "clear" of the illness - which claimed the lives of her sister Bernie in 2013 and Linda in January - but Anne, 74, is still plagued by worries about the disease coming back. Anne admitted her cancer battle in the era of COVID-19 left her riddled with worries told OK! magazine: "It was really awful. "I ended up having anxiety about dying. I've had to have tablets from the doctor for anxiety because of having cancer during COVID. I wasn't allowed to be with my family. I was in hospital for 11 days ... "I still have anxiety but it's not as bad. I have anxieties about dying. It is about the cancer coming back as well ... I don't want to die, I love being alive. I love being here." She added that losing her sisters to cancer and surviving her own ordeal has given her a different prospective on life. Anne explained: "When you've had a life-threatening disease and you've lost two sisters then it brings it all to the forefront. "It makes you value life. You grab everything with both hands. Whenever I'm asked to do something I say yes straight away. When you come through it and you're at the other end and you think, well I didn't die and I'm alive and I'm gonna live every day." She went on to reveal she now wants to tick some plans off her bucket list including a trip to Italy to visit the Vatican and a holiday in Nashville, Tennessee. Anne also wants to learn to swim, pick up a new language and learn to play an instrument. She previously opened up about her brush with cancer and admitted she feels "lucky" to have pulled through. During an appearance on ITV's Lorraine, Anne said: "I am so lucky. I had my first cancer in 2000, I had my chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and an operation. And after six months of chemo, I was fine. And then 20 years later, almost to the day, it came back again in a different breast. "Two separate cancers. And again, I had the chemo and the radiotherapy and the operation and I'm happy to say that I'm clear. I've got another year before I'm actually discharged but I'm clear of cancer at the moment, thank goodness. So I count myself really, really lucky. "

Home and Away is coming to WA: Hit soap to film in the west this October

Home and Away is heading west for the first-time. Australia's number one television drama will film an 'ambitious, high-stakes storyline' in WA this October. Details are still unknown at this stage, with filming preparations a closely guarded secret. But pre-production is underway for the five special episodes, which will see Home and Away visit this side of the country for the first time in its 37-year history. 'In partnership with Tourism Western Australia, this special Home and Away event will see the show trade the familiar sands of Summer Bay for the vast and varied landscapes of WA,' an official release states. Filming is set to take place 'at several locations' across the State, with producers promising Western Australia will be showcased in all its stunning glory, 'from cosmopolitan Perth to its rugged coastline and expansive red outback.' The WA Government claims the episodes will showcase the State to audiences beyond Australis and New Zealand to almost 50 other international markets. The UK has a strong Home and Away fan base, with 250,000 UK-based viewers per episode, presenting a huge opportunity to promote WA as a tourism destination. Home and Away series producer, Lucy Addario, said the cast and crew were 'beyond excited' to be packing their bags and heading to Perth to begin shooting in two months' time. '(Western Australia's) awe-inspiring beauty, diverse landscapes and sheer scale make it the perfect backdrop for this huge storyline,' she said. 'Working with the Tourism Western Australia team has been an absolute joy and we can't wait for audiences to fall in love with WA like we have.' Tourism Minister Reece Whitby said he was thrilled to welcome the iconic show here. 'Home and Away has been a staple of Australian television for close to 40 years, and this special WA storyline presents a great opportunity to showcase the State to millions of viewers across the country and around the world,' he said. 'When our pristine coastline and diverse tourism experiences are broadcast to homes across the country and overseas next year, we encourage viewers to come and see these spectacular locations for themselves.' Home and Away, which has been on air since 1988, famously films its outside locations at Palm Beach in NSW's northern beaches. The special Home and Away event will premiere in 2026 on Seven and 7plus. Home and Away airs Monday-to-Thursday at 7pm. The show's stars, Lynne McGranger and Hailey Pinto, are nominees for the 65th TV WEEK Logie Awards, broadcast exclusively on Seven and 7plus from 7.00pm on Sunday August 3. Click here to vote.
