Feature Video: Winter McQuinn ft. Dylan Young and Hot Apple Band - Always Looking
Directed by animator, collage maker and all-round creative brain Millar Wileman, the music video for 'Always Looking' cleverly applies subversive visual cues to mirror the song's contrasting musicality and lyrics. Millar says 'this one was a lot of fun to make! I wanted the visuals to reflect the introspective lyrics in a way that wasn't super obvious but kind of hidden behind the jovial characters… similar to how the song sounds uplifting but the lyrics are saying something else. I've done a lot of collage but not much claymation so it was fun giving that a go.' 'I really enjoyed Millar's other videos he's done for artists I admire including Mouche, Hooverii, DAFF and was really stoked with what he made for this track' says Winter. 'I like his use of collage and clay animation combined with abstract imagery and the flittering timing of everything. It really suits the vibe of the song and I liked how he referenced the lyrics loosely, nothing's too literal but still connected.'
'Always Looking' was written almost overnight by Winter and Hot Apple Band's Jack Kinder after going to the community cup in Melbourne. Winter explains 'I had the rhythm guitar idea and was using it in another song which I showed Jack to which he said "all due respect but we're gonna come up with something better". He adds 'Millar also totally nailed the 'sounds like' reference when he replied saying it sounded like Steely Dan meets Nick Drake'.

Cardiff mural keeps missing teenager Gordana Kotevski's story in the public eye
From one of the busiest roads in Cardiff, New South Wales, Peggy Kotevski can see a warm, bright smile belonging to someone she has not laid eyes on for more than 30 years. Her daughter Gordana Kotevski went missing in November 1994. She was last seen being forced into a vehicle at Charlestown while she was on her way from a shopping centre to her aunt's home nearby. On Friday a 26-metre-wide mural of the then-16-year-old was unveiled on a wall at Cardiff Shopping Centre. "I'm very pleased with [the mural], but for a mother, it's a bit of a sad day as well, because I would have liked to have her in real life, not as a mural," Peggy said. She hopes the mural will "jog someone's memory" and lead to fresh information coming to light. "I know it's 30 years, but for us it's like it happened yesterday," Peggy said. Gordana's sister Carolina said she visited the mural on Friday morning and said it was a "surreal" experience. "Over the last 30 years, every time I've thought of her, or just said silent prayers, a butterfly has always been around me," she said. "So that's what those butterflies symbolise, and the other components have been special things to all the family and just having her there." The Kotevskis said many people contributed to the creation of the community-funded mural, for which they were thankful. They also thanked the artist behind the work, Reuben "Reubszz" Boughtwood. "He's captured the essence of who she was … it's just beautiful," Carolina said. Peggy echoed that sentiment. "I'm grateful to Reuben, I'm grateful to the community," she said. "I can never thank you [enough], my sister-in-law Julie Talevski, because she was behind it." Boughtwood said he worked with the family and friends to bring the work to life. "These types of work are sort of close to my heart," he said. "If I can come into a community and do something that's close to their hearts, I'm stoked to be able to bring that to life. "I think it will try and help raise awareness … any sort of positive outcome is a plus for me." Strike Force Arapaima was established in 2019 to re-examine Gordana's disappearance and suspected murder. The strike force is also probing the disappearances of Lake Macquarie teenagers Robyn Hickie and Amanda Robinson. "Hopefully people will have the heart to come forward if they do have any information whatsoever," Peggy said. Police have offered a $1-million reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction over Gordana's disappearance.

ABC star's ‘obscene' Anne Frank joke sparks outrage
A Triple J radio host has been blasted for using a derogatory sexual term to describing Holocaust survivor Anne Frank during a stand-up routine at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Concetta Caristo, a co-host of Triple J's breakfast program, was telling the audience she was a 'girls' girl' who could get along with 'any girl in the world, even in history'. 'Put me in a room with Cleopatra and I'd be like, 'Oh my god, I love your eyeliner', or with Anne Frank and I'd say, 'Slut, I have a diary too! Congrats on the book deal',' she said. But Anti-Defamation Commission chair Dvir Abramovich said it was not funny, describing it instead as a 'brutal desecration' of the memory of the Holocaust. 'This wasn't just a joke. It was a brutal desecration of the memory of Anne Frank and the one-and-a-half million Jewish children who were murdered in the Holocaust – gassed, shot, starved, erased,' he said in a statement. 'When someone takes a victim of genocide and turns her into an obscene punchline, they don't just mock her – they violate her.' The 15-year-old girl died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945 after she was found hiding in Amsterdam. She gained posthumous fame after the publication of her diary, which shared her personal account of the Holocaust. 'Anne Frank … didn't get a book deal. She got typhus. She got starvation. She got a death sentence in Bergen-Belsen,' Dr Abramovich said. He also expressed shock at the use of the word 'slut', describing it as a 'term of sexual humiliation aimed at a girl who never lived long enough to become a woman'. Ms Caristo's management told NewsWire she was 'away and not available'. Her social media indicates she is currently travelling, including kayaking in Hamilton Island.
