"Our party has submitted a list of 24 assembly seats, where we have strong support, to the coordination committee of the GA. The coordination committee will discuss the claims made by the various alliance partners, and reach an understanding for an amicable seat sharing," Raja said, while talking to reporters here on Monday.
He was here to participate in the CPI's two-day state council meet that concluded on Sunday.
The state council decided on the party programmes to be taken up ahead of the assembly elections, and also on making active participation in the countrywide protests planned for July 23 and 24 against the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll.
However, making preparations for the coming assembly elections in Bihar was high on the agenda. "Our understanding is that the state CPI will get fair and reasonable share of seats to contest," he said, adding that the primary aim of the GA is to defeat the BJP and also unseat the NDA govt from power for which the CPI has been making preparations in all the 243 assembly seats in favour of the GA partners.
However, CPI state secretary Ram Naresh Pandey pointed out that during the seat-sharing exercise for the 2020 assembly polls, his party's strength was underestimated. "We were given six seats to contest, and we won two of them. In contrast, the CPI(ML) was allotted 19 seats. This time, our claim is that the CPI should get at least 20 seats to contest in view of our relative strength and presence," Pandey said.
The CPI(ML) has submitted a list of 45 seats to the GA coordination committee for discussion and final seat allotment, and the CPM has staked claim on 12 seats.

A senior MP said: "Trinamool is not opposed to discussions on Operation Sindoor. In fact, we want some answers. But this cannot be at the expense of SIR. Here we are talking of mass disenfranchisement of people who had voted in the 2024 Lok Sabha, based on arbitrary reasoning. We want a clear assurance from the Centre on the floor of the house that SIR will be discussed threadbare in Parliament."

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Sunday issued a three-line whip to its MPs as the Lok Sabha is set to begin a three-day debate on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor on Monday. After a week-long standoff between the Opposition and the Treasury benches, the Monday session is expected to be stormy as some Opposition parties are expected to raise the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar as well. While Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to open the discussion from the ruling camp, the principal Opposition party Congress has a line-up of Deputy Leader of Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi, general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi and K C Venugopal on the opening day. According to party sources, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi may speak on Tuesday. The party has been allotted three hours to speak on the issue. Sources said that besides Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be speaking on the issues, amid indications that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may intervene to convey his government's track record of a "robust" stand on national security. The whip issued by Chief Whip Kodikunnil Suresh said, 'Be present positively in Lok Sabha from 11:00 AM onwards till adjournment of the House on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday and support the Party Stand. This may be treated as three-line whip.' The Lok Sabha Secretariat has listed a "special discussion on India's strong, successful and decisive 'Operation Sindoor' in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam" in its agenda for Monday.
