P8M fire struck houses at Muslim community in Culasi, Antique
A fire struck at least 18 houses at a Muslim community in Culasi town, Province of Antique. The fire broke out in Barangay Jalandoni, Culasi evening on July 20, 2025. According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), aside from the 18 houses destroyed in the compound of the Muslim community, a portion of their mosque was also gutted. Of the 18 houses, at least 14 were destroyed, while four were partially damaged. 'Ang lakas ng sunog. Mayroong mosque. Bale, nagmula ang apoy (based) sa initial investigation sa itaas na portion ng bahay ng owner na si Osmar Taaral,' Fire Inspector Fatima Hepertor, acting municipal fire marshal of Culasi BFP, said. The fire is possibly caused by a plugged bulb left unattended. 'Bale nakasaksak na bulb. Seguro, nakalimutan na tanggalin sa saksakan. Based sa apo ng may-ari,' Hepertor added. The fire left behind approximately P8 million in damages.
