Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, February, 2025: Diriyah Company has appointed Giza Systems as the Delivery Partner for the Master Systems Integrator in its ambitious smart city initiative, a key component of The City of Earth's masterplan. This is a significant milestone as Diriyah's development continues to accelerate, making Saudi Arabia home to one of the most connected mixed-use urban environments in the world upon completion.
The smart city initiative is designed to optimize infrastructure, enhance operations, and provide a seamless user experience in Diriyah under the supervision of Giza Systems, who are part of the solutions by stc Group of companies.
The smart city initiative will leverage technology to oversee transport networks, energy systems, and waste monitoring, with a digital twin of each asset relating key information and providing real-time data for better management and user interaction. The smart city system will also provide personalized services to residents and visitors, using an app to book amenities, with the technology helping to optimize sustainability initiatives.
Diriyah Company will work with Giza Systems to deploy the smart city initiative, targeting the delivery of an improved quality of life offering for the Diriyah community. In total, the Diriyah smart city initiative includes 50 smart services spread across five pillars: Smart Living, Smart Mobility, Smart Sustainability, Smart Operation, Smart Experience.

Furthermore, the 'Sport for All' strategy by the Kingdom's government helps promote physical activity, inclusion, and community well-being by expanding access to sports facilities and encouraging participation across all age groups – from popular sports to public urban sports programmes. Diverse exhibitor line up and product innovation The 2025 edition featured 200 exhibiting companies and brands, with participation from both local and international exhibitors across key product categories, including playground and leisure facilities, urban design and architecture, sports surfaces, pool/spa fitting equipment and sports facilities and equipment. Dedicated country pavilions, including China and Türkiye showcased innovative solutions in sports flooring, artificial turf, aquatic technologies, outdoor fitness parks, modular structures, urban seating and more. Besides these pavilions, Italy presented the strongest European participation with 13 exhibitors. Jul 03, 2025 Egypt has secured more than USD 900 million in debt-swap agreements with Germany, Italy and China, according to an announcement by Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, a high-level United Nations event taking place in Seville, Spain. The agreements aim to reallocate external debt repayments toward domestic development initiatives, offering Egypt greater flexibility in addressing economic challenges. Minister Al-Mashat highlighted the growing debt burden on low- and middle-income countries, which now amounts to USD 8.8 trillion, with nearly 60% of nations either in or approaching debt distress. Egypt's new swaps are intended to provide fiscal breathing room while supporting development goals aligned with Vision 2030. The conference focused on debt solutions and international reform, where Egypt also called for broader financial policy shifts, including the use of Special Drawing Rights and more inclusive multilateral development bank strategies. The minister emphasised the need for updated risk frameworks and automatic suspension mechanisms to ensure a more resilient and equitable global financial system.
