At least four suspects were involved in the incident early Sunday on the island of Providenciales, but no one has been arrested, Police Commissioner Fitz Bailey said, also calling it "deeply disturbing".
Acting Gov. Anya Williams said the hospital in Providenciales was on lockdown to protect those being treated for their injuries.
She said at least two of those injured were flown overseas for further treatment.

Misick said how the island is "now having a gangland-type slaying," adding that "a lot of this gang violence seems to be concentrated in our Haitan communities".
He called on the Haitian community to cooperate with cops, saying some of them know how guns are being smuggled into the Turks and Caicos Islands.

"This is not a situation we should accept."

"But the staff were friendly with them it was as if they knew them."
One morning Colin and his wife were relaxing by the poolside, while their daughter chilled up in the room.

Within seconds the tranquil atmosphere was shattered by the horrifying sounds of gunshots.
"Shooting just erupted, I heard the gunshots first and everybody just dived down straight away," he said.

Gena Heraty a 'caring, compassionate' person, says local priest
A priest in Co Mayo has described an Irish woman who was kidnapped in Haiti as a "wonderful, generous, caring and compassionate person". . Ms Heraty, a native of Westport in Co Mayo, who is in her mid-50s, oversees the Sainte-Helene orphanage in the commune of Kenscoff, about 10km southeast of the capital Port-au-Prince. Father John Kenny, the administrator of Westport parish, said Ms Heraty's family are "very appreciative" of the support they have received since she was abducted from the orphanage. Speaking on RTÉ's Today with Colm Ó Mongáin, Fr Kenny said supporters had an opportunity to console Ms Heraty's family at a prayer service in Westport yesterday evening. "They were there in great solidarity and great numbers ... cars were everywhere, and people were gathered and quietly prayed and met with the family afterwards," Fr Kenny said. He added: "The family are very appreciative of the support and very conscious that people are praying in support of them." Fr Kenny said Ms Heraty is "not one for the spotlight" but loves talking about her work and has always been greatly supported by the local community when raising funds for the orphanage. "You could see her beaming with enthusiasm and energy around what she does, but like I said, never looking for the credit to herself but always drawing attention to herself. "That's just the nature of the person she is. A wonderful, generous, caring and compassionate person - a great human being," Fr Kenny said. Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Harris held talks overnight with his Haitian counterpart about the abduction of Ms Heraty. In a statement, the Tánaiste said he asked Haiti's Foreign Minister Harvel Jean-Baptiste "that everything is done to ensure the release of Gena and the other hostages". Mr Harris said Mr Jean-Baptiste had "assured me of his support in our work to ensure the safe release of Gena, and all the hostages, who have gone through the most horrendous of ordeals". "We have agreed to stay in touch about the case, which remains extremely sensitive," he added.

Diplomatic efforts underway to free kidnapped Irish missionary in Haiti
IRISH charity worker Gena Heraty is among eight individuals kidnapped during an armed attack on a children's home in Haiti, triggering urgent diplomatic efforts from Irish authorities. Ms Heraty, originally from Westport in County Mayo, was taken along with six colleagues and a three-year-old child during a pre-dawn raid on the Sainte-Helene orphanage in Kenscoff, a town located in the hills southeast of Port-au-Prince. For over three decades, Ms Heraty has been working with vulnerable children in Haiti, leading special needs programmes under the organisation Nos Petits Frères et Sœurs (Our Little Brothers and Sisters). Her long-standing dedication to humanitarian service has made her a respected figure in both Haiti and Ireland. The Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Harris, confirmed that intensive diplomatic efforts are ongoing. He spoke directly with Haiti's Foreign Minister Harvel Jean-Baptiste in a late-night call, urging every possible step be taken to secure the safe release of Ms Heraty and the others taken. NPH International confirmed that a total of eight individuals, seven staff and one young child, were abducted. In response, the organisation has temporarily closed its two hospitals in Haiti as a safety precaution. Haiti has been gripped by escalating violence in recent years. The United Nations reports that criminal gangs control the vast majority of the capital, and more than 3,000 people have been killed in the first half of this year alone. Kidnappings have become a common tactic used by gangs over local communities. This incident is one of the most serious involving a foreign aid worker in recent years. The figures come from a Freedom of Information request submitted by The Mirror to the DVLA, revealing how many cars were reported stolen between 1 January and 1 July 2025.
