At least four suspects were involved in the incident early Sunday on the island of Providenciales, but no one has been arrested, Police Commissioner Fitz Bailey said, also calling it "deeply disturbing".
Acting Gov. Anya Williams said the hospital in Providenciales was on lockdown to protect those being treated for their injuries.
She said at least two of those injured were flown overseas for further treatment.

Misick said how the island is "now having a gangland-type slaying," adding that "a lot of this gang violence seems to be concentrated in our Haitan communities".
He called on the Haitian community to cooperate with cops, saying some of them know how guns are being smuggled into the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Misick added: "What is happening here is unlike anything we've ever seen before.
"This is not a situation we should accept."

Gena Heraty a 'caring, compassionate' person, says local priest

A priest in Co Mayo has described an Irish woman who was kidnapped in Haiti as a "wonderful, generous, caring and compassionate person". . Ms Heraty, a native of Westport in Co Mayo, who is in her mid-50s, oversees the Sainte-Helene orphanage in the commune of Kenscoff, about 10km southeast of the capital Port-au-Prince. Father John Kenny, the administrator of Westport parish, said Ms Heraty's family are "very appreciative" of the support they have received since she was abducted from the orphanage. Speaking on RTÉ's Today with Colm Ó Mongáin, Fr Kenny said supporters had an opportunity to console Ms Heraty's family at a prayer service in Westport yesterday evening. "They were there in great solidarity and great numbers ... cars were everywhere, and people were gathered and quietly prayed and met with the family afterwards," Fr Kenny said. He added: "The family are very appreciative of the support and very conscious that people are praying in support of them." Fr Kenny said Ms Heraty is "not one for the spotlight" but loves talking about her work and has always been greatly supported by the local community when raising funds for the orphanage. "You could see her beaming with enthusiasm and energy around what she does, but like I said, never looking for the credit to herself but always drawing attention to herself. "That's just the nature of the person she is. A wonderful, generous, caring and compassionate person - a great human being," Fr Kenny said. Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Harris held talks overnight with his Haitian counterpart about the abduction of Ms Heraty. In a statement, the Tánaiste said he asked Haiti's Foreign Minister Harvel Jean-Baptiste "that everything is done to ensure the release of Gena and the other hostages". Mr Harris said Mr Jean-Baptiste had "assured me of his support in our work to ensure the safe release of Gena, and all the hostages, who have gone through the most horrendous of ordeals". "We have agreed to stay in touch about the case, which remains extremely sensitive," he added.

Diplomatic efforts underway to free kidnapped Irish missionary in Haiti

IRISH charity worker Gena Heraty is among eight individuals kidnapped during an armed attack on a children's home in Haiti, triggering urgent diplomatic efforts from Irish authorities. Ms Heraty, originally from Westport in County Mayo, was taken along with six colleagues and a three-year-old child during a pre-dawn raid on the Sainte-Helene orphanage in Kenscoff, a town located in the hills southeast of Port-au-Prince. For over three decades, Ms Heraty has been working with vulnerable children in Haiti, leading special needs programmes under the organisation Nos Petits Frères et Sœurs (Our Little Brothers and Sisters). Her long-standing dedication to humanitarian service has made her a respected figure in both Haiti and Ireland. The Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Harris, confirmed that intensive diplomatic efforts are ongoing. He spoke directly with Haiti's Foreign Minister Harvel Jean-Baptiste in a late-night call, urging every possible step be taken to secure the safe release of Ms Heraty and the others taken. 'This is an extremely sensitive and deeply distressing situation,' said Mr Harris. 'Gena has committed her life to helping the most vulnerable in Haiti. We are doing everything we can to bring her home safely.' Local officials believe the kidnapping was carefully orchestrated. According to Kenscoff's mayor, the attackers gained entry around 3:30am Sunday morning without opening fire — suggesting a deliberate and planned operation. While no group has claimed responsibility, the Viv Ansanm gang, which has seized control of much of the area, is believed to be behind the abduction. So far, no ransom demand has been made public. However, an intermediary, not affiliated with the Haitian government, is said to be on the ground working to negotiate the release of the hostages. The Tánaiste also confirmed that diplomatic teams in Dublin, Washington, and London are involved in the response, with officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs staying in constant contact with the Heraty family. Speaking earlier this week, Mr Harris said he had a personal conversation with Gena's sister, Noreen, and gave her assurances that the government would pursue every possible avenue to ensure her safe return. The Heraty family released a statement describing the ordeal as 'deeply worrying' and said they are working closely with authorities and the NPH network both in Haiti and in Ireland. They also asked for privacy and caution while negotiations are ongoing. 'Please keep Gena and her colleagues in your thoughts and prayers,' the statement read. NPH International confirmed that a total of eight individuals, seven staff and one young child, were abducted. In response, the organisation has temporarily closed its two hospitals in Haiti as a safety precaution. Haiti has been gripped by escalating violence in recent years. The United Nations reports that criminal gangs control the vast majority of the capital, and more than 3,000 people have been killed in the first half of this year alone. Kidnappings have become a common tactic used by gangs over local communities. This incident is one of the most serious involving a foreign aid worker in recent years. It follows a pattern of high-profile kidnappings, including the 2021 abduction of 17 missionaries by the '400 Mawazo' gang. As the international community monitors the situation, Ireland's government has reiterated its commitment to securing the release of Gena Heraty and the others as swiftly and safely as possible. Britain's most stolen cars in 2025 revealed with 7 models belonging to the SAME brand – is yours on the list?

Find out if your motor is at risk GONE IN A FLASH Britain's most stolen cars in 2025 revealed with 7 models belonging to the SAME brand – is yours on the list? BRITAIN's most stolen cars of 2025 have been revealed – and shockingly, seven of the top 11 belong to the same car brand. In just six months, a staggering 23,189 vehicles were swiped by thieves. The figures come from a Freedom of Information request submitted by The Mirror to the DVLA, revealing how many cars were reported stolen between 1 January and 1 July 2025. Leading the list is the Fiesta Zetec, a long-time favourite with UK drivers thanks to its affordability, smart design and solid performance. Experts at Cinch explained: 'Zetec is a step above Style, and you get quite a lot of bang for your buck, including alloy wheels and a heated windscreen. Advertisement "This car also gets a significant lighting upgrade, with stylish LED daytime running lights and front fog lights that illuminate individually when cornering. "The Zetec model also comes with the company's slick, easy-to-use SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment system, which works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.' Right now, over 3,200 used Zetecs are listed on Auto Trader, with prices starting from just £695. That budget-friendly price tag, especially for younger or first-time drivers, could explain why the model remains so widely used and, unfortunately, so commonly targeted. Advertisement Watch as thieves use high-tech trick to swipe Mercedes in under 20 secs - as devices used in 40% of thefts to be BANNED According to the DVLA, 211 Fiesta Zetecs were stolen in the first six months of the year alone. Closely behind were the Fiesta Titanium Turbo (167 thefts), Fiesta Titanium X (165), and Toyota C-HR Dynamic HEV CVT (162). That makes three out of the top four most stolen models Ford Fiestas. Despite the worrying numbers, Ford says the figures need context. Advertisement 'Victims of its own success' A spokesperson said: 'The Ford Fiesta is a victim of its own sales success between 1976 and 2023. How to protect your car from thieves Wheel clamps are another great option that can prevent your car from being driven away. Again, they are highly visible as they are often sold in bright colours, and may deter opportunistic thieves looking for a quick and easy target. Traditional security measures are also considered when calculating insurance premiums. Rich Morley at Lancaster Insurance explains that, no matter what car you drive, classic or modern, traditional-style security measures can provide extra peace of mind and security for your vehicle, helping to deter thieves in the process. He added: 'When considering a risk profile, we will establish with customers any security measures they have in place to prevent potential theft." "There are more Fiestas on the road in the UK than most other makes and models, and therefore the total number of thefts is higher as a result.' They added: 'The Ford Fiesta is no more 'stolen' than many other types of cars including the VW Polo or Vauxhall Corsa if you look at the percentage of total registrations and not just the volume of thefts.' Elsewhere on the list, Toyota made an appearance – but other brands previously plagued by theft have dropped down the rankings. Advertisement Back in 2023, Land Rover was under fire after a spike in thefts left owners unable to get cover – especially in city centres. Car makers fighting back But after investing £17 million in security upgrades, including overhauling keyless entry systems on 300,000 vehicles, the Range Rover Sport HSE has now fallen to 15th on the list, with 79 reported thefts this year. Its parent company JLR also stumped up £1 million to help fund targeted police operations tackling vehicle crime gangs across the country. Toyota, meanwhile, has responded by rolling out extra security tech on popular models, such as immobilisers, GPS trackers, key blockers and protective plateskely.
