Two women wanted for running cheap China travel package scam
Johor police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the two women, Low Siew Hwa of Taman Nusajaya Mas, and Lim Zhi Xuan of Bukit Indah, were wanted for allegedly collecting payments from customers but failed to fulfil their end of the bargain.
'We have received a total of 34 reports against them, involving a value of RM338,080 so far.
'The victims had purchased the travel packages to China and felt they were scammed after the tour operators could no longer be contacted after that," he said in a statement on Tuesday (May 6).
He added that police are searching for the two women to assist in investigations.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of one to 10 years, caning and a fine for cheating.

Earlier, Muhammad Nadzir and Nur Haziqah urged the court to impose a sentence that would serve as a deterrent to the public. Samantha, however, pleaded for leniency, requesting the minimum fine as her clients had repented and promised to change. "Mohd Hanafi suffers from a brain condition and underwent head surgery in 2016. He is now dependent on his sister for support. "Muhammad Al Azamuddin is a first-year university student, while Mohamad Syahmi Firas is a final-year polytechnic student. "They have all promised not to repeat this offence. Their families have also vowed to guide them onto the right path from now on," she said. Failure to pay the fine will result in a six-month jail term. It was previously reported that police raided a gathering at a bungalow on Jalan Kemumin, believed to have been attended by nearly 100 men. The raid, conducted based on intelligence and public information, led to the arrest of 20 men and the seizure of hundreds of condoms and HIV medication.

The trio were charged with possessing the content on their phones in a house on Jalan Kemumin, Kampung Belacang, Kota Baru on June 18. Charges were filed under Section 292 of Penal Code, which brings a maximum jail term of three years, or a fine, or both, if convicted. The trio were released after paying the fines. This comes after police raided a bungalow in Kemumin, Kota Baru, where a "gay sex party" supposedly took place. The raid sparked controversy after several non-governmental organisations and individuals denied that any illicit activities took place.
