Marvel Dates Potential Fourth Movie For 2028
The announcement comes as a surprise, considering Disney CEO Bob Iger's recent public admission that Marvel had 'lost a little focus by making too much', highlighting how 'quantity does not necessarily beget quality.'
'We all know that in our zeal to flood our streaming platform with more content, that we turned to all of our creative engines, including Marvel, and had them produce a lot more,' he said during an investor call in May. 'We've also learned over time that quantity does not necessarily beget quality. And frankly, we've all admitted to ourselves that we lost a little focus by making too much. By consolidating a bit and having Marvel focus much more on their films, we believe that will result in better quality.'
As Variety reports, it's widely expected that some of these 2028 films won't be able to meet the stipulated release dates. None of them have been revealed, but other projects in development that could end up opening in 2028 include Black Panther 3 , a Fantastic Four sequel, a follow-up to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings , and an X-Men reboot by Michael Leslie. Development on Blade is on hold, so it's safe to assume that vampire hunter won't be returning anytime soon.
Leading up to the year, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to be the final film for the studio in 2025, followed by Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday in 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars and an untitled feature will round out the 2027 slate.

Lucy Liu Joins 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' Runway Along With Justin Theroux, B. J. Novak And Others
Lucy Liu ( Charlie's Angels ), Justin Theroux ( Beetlejuice Beetlejuice ), B. J. Novak ( The Office ) and Pauline Chalamet (The Sex Lives of College Girls ) will be hitting the runway of The Devil Wears Prada 2 . Other new faces include Broadway stars Helen J. Shen (Maybe Happy Ending ) and Conrad Ricamora ( Oh, Mary! ), as well as Caleb Hearon (Jurassic World Dominion ). Photo credit: Santiago Felipe / Getty Images Other than original stars Meryl Streep ( Mamma Mia! ), Anne Hathaway ( The Idea of You ), Emily Blunt ( Fall Guy ), and Stanley Tucci ( The Hunger Games trilogy), there will be two other actresses reprising their roles from the original film. Tracie Thoms ( Rent ), who played Lily, a sassy supportive art gallery manager who is best friend to Hathaway's Andy, and Tibor Feldman ( Enchanted ), who played Irv Ravitz, the Runway Magazine publisher more concerned with profits than fashion, will both make a return to the big screen in their respective roles. Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt in The Devil Wears Prada (2006) Disney's 20th Century Studios is producing The Devil Wears Prada sequel, set for theatrical release on 1 May 2026. While plot details remain under wraps, the story is expected to follow Miranda Priestly (Streep) as she confronts the challenges of a declining print media industry. She will go head-to-head with her former assistant (Blunt), now a powerful executive at a luxury conglomerate that controls the ad revenue Priestly needs. While this isn't the first time that Streep has had a fan favourite movie revisited by filmmakers years after the original, having reprised her role in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018), ten years after the first film, the return of The Devil Wears Prada is one that fans have been clamouring for a long time. In fact, in 2024, Streep, Blunt, and Hathaway reunited at the SAG Awards to announce the winner of Best Actor in a Comedy Series, with Hathaway and Blunt jokingly quoting iconic lines from The Devil Wears Prada to loud cheers from fans and fellow celebrities alike. David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna are returning as director and screenwriter, alongside producer Karen Rosenfelt. The classic original film, based on Lauren Weisberger's novel inspired by her time at Vogue , centred on aspiring journalist Andy Sachs (Hathaway) navigating life under a ruthless fashion editor. The 2006 hit grossed over US$326 million globally and an Oscar nomination for Streep. With the hype around The Devil Wears Prada having built since the triumphant trio's reunion at the 2024 SAG Awards, coupled with the addition of stars such as Liu, Theroux, Novak and Chalamet, fans can undoubtedly look forward to the fashion-forward return of the upcoming sequel. 'Dune: Part 3' Revealed As Official Title, Won't Be Shot Fully On IMAX Cameras
It's messiah no more, as the official name for the forthcoming Dune threequel has been revealed. To nobody's surprise, it will be called Dune: Part 3 , replacing the previously thought title of Dune: Messiah , after the second novel in Frank Herbert's beloved sci-fi series. The film is also set to feature sequences shot on IMAX cameras, but not to the same extent as Christopher Nolan's big-screen adaptation of literary classic The Odyssey , which marks the first and so far only movie to be entirely filmed with IMAX cameras. As announced on X/Twitter, production on the trilogy-capper has begun, with a first-look image showing off the vast expanse of Arrakis. While story details remain under wraps, Dune: Part 3 is expected to adapt the second book and explore Paul Atreides' rise to power. Little Women star Timothée Chalamet plays the character in the Denis Villeneuve-directed movies, alongside Florence Pugh ( Little Women , Black Widow ) as Princess Irulan, and Zendaya ( Euphoria , Spider-Man: Far from Home ) as Chani. The Batman 's Robert Pattinson is also rumoured to join the cast in an unspecified role, with Jason Momoa, who was absent in 2024's Dune: Part 2 , reprising his role as Paul's trusted aide Duncan Idaho. Villeneuve will return as director, while renowned composer Hans Zimmer has already made headway with scoring for the threequel, slated for release on 18 December 2026. It likely serves as the filmmaker's final send-off to the franchise before he starts work on reviving James Bond under the Amazon MGM Studios banner. The Dune universe continues to enjoy strong audience interest, cementing its place as a cult classic. A second season of HBO's Dune: Prophecy spin-off is currently in the works, and Funcom's Dune: Awakening MMO made history as the developer's fastest-selling game with over one million copies sold in two weeks. Dune: Part 3 opens in theatres on 18 December 2026. Si Jia is a casual geek at heart – or as casual as someone with Sephiroth's theme on her Spotify playlist can get.
