Streeting tells Israel to get its own ‘house in order' over West Bank violence
He said that chants calling for 'death' to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) at Glastonbury were 'appalling'.
But Mr Streeting also urged Israel to look at the conduct of its own citizens and settlers in the West Bank.
Rapper Bobby Vylan, of rap punk duo Bob Vylan, on Saturday led crowds on the Glastonbury Festival's West Holts Stage in chants of 'Free, free Palestine' and 'Death, death to the IDF'.
On social media, the Israeli embassy had said the performances raise concerns about the 'normalisation of extremist language and the glorification of violence'.
The Health Secretary drew the comparison of his support for Ukraine in its war with Russia, telling Sky News's Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips that he would not be 'celebrating or chanting for the death of Russian soldiers' but calling for an end to the conflict.
'I'd also say to the Israeli embassy, get your own house in order in terms of the conduct of your own citizens and the settlers in the West Bank.
'So, you know, I think there's a serious point there by the Israeli embassy I take seriously. I wish they'd take the violence of their own citizens towards Palestinians more seriously.'
Speaking to the BBC's Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme he pointed to the actions of Israeli settlers in the West Bank in the past week.
He appeared to be referring to an attack by settlers in a town in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
Palestinian authorities said that three people were killed after more than 100 settlers entered the town on Wednesday, set property ablaze and opened fire on residents who tried to stop them.
Mr Streeting said: 'What happened in the West Bank this week by Israeli settler terrorists needs to not only be condemned, it needs to be acted upon, and Israel cannot continue to look the other way while its own people are carrying out … acts of terrorism and violence.
'They wouldn't tolerate it rightly against their own citizens. Their citizens are doing it to Palestinians, and it's got to stop.'
The Israeli embassy in the UK has been contacted for comment.
Sir Keir Starmer's Government has stepped up pressure on Israel over the conflict in Gaza in recent months.
It paused negotiations on a UK-Israel trade deal and sanctioned two hardline ministers in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet.
Bezalel Smotrich has campaigned against allowing aid into Gaza, and also supported the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank, which are considered illegal under international law.
Itamar Ben-Gvir has called for Gaza's people to be resettled from the territory.

Almost 60 people have been killed in new Israeli strikes in Gaza, Hamas-run health authorities have said, as residents reported heavy bombardments. The Israeli military issued evacuation orders on Monday to people in large areas of the north, leading to further displacement. Israeli officials are due in Washington for a new attempt at a ceasefire promoted by the Trump administration. They also said 20 people, including women, children and a local journalist were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a beachfront cafe in Gaza City. The IDF ordered people to head south, saying it planned to fight Hamas militants operating in northern Gaza, including in the heart of Gaza City. Donald Trump has urged Israel and Hamas to agree a ceasefire - as the number of Palestinians killed in Gaza reached 56,500, according to Hamas-run authorities. "MAKE THE DEAL IN GAZA. GET THE HOSTAGES BACK!!!," he wrote on social media on Sunday. The US president had raised expectations of a possible agreement this week, but some Palestinians were doubtful of the latest efforts to end the 20-month war that has laid waste to most of Gaza. "Since the beginning of the war, they have been promising us something like this: release the hostages and we will stop the war," said one Palestinian, Abdel Hadi al Hour. "They did not stop the war." An eight-week ceasefire was reached in the final days of Joe Biden's US presidency, but Israel resumed the war in March after trying to get Hamas to accept new terms on next steps. Meanwhile, Israeli attacks in Gaza also continued on Sunday. At least 15 people were killed when an IDF airstrike hit a house sheltering displaced people in the Jabaliya al-Nazla area, according to an official in Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry. He said women and children made up more than half the dead. During a visit to Israel's internal security service Shin Bet, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Israel-Iran war and ceasefire have opened many opportunities. "First of all, to rescue the hostages," he said. "Of course, we will also have to solve the Gaza issue, to defeat Hamas, but I estimate that we will achieve both tasks." Hamas says it is willing to free all the hostages in exchange for a full withdrawal of Israeli troops and an end to the war in Gaza. Israel rejects that offer, saying it will agree to end the war if Hamas surrenders, disarms and goes into exile - something that the group refuses.

The systematic murder of civilians does not even warrant token coverage by the 'just and equitable' BBC as soldiers from the IDF use them for target practice. It is accurate to state that Bob Vylan crossed the line of common decency in their rhetoric to the Glastonbury crowd but it is nonetheless frustrating to realise that this then becomes the story for television and newspapers, and not the acts of barbarity committed by the Netanyahu administration, a gang of heinous war criminals. There are governments in Europe that are prepared to make a righteous and humanitarian stance with regards the international crimes being carried out in Palestine. Spain and Ireland spring readily to mind. If this were to be applied to Mr O'Braan's 42-month sentence, he could be released some time in January 2026 – only six months from now. He would miss Christmas and New Year at home but I wonder if he would be eligible to stand in the May 2026 Scottish Parliament elections? Home Secretary Yvette Cooper will proscribe neo-Nazi group the Maniacs Murder Cult (MMC) alongide Palestine Action and the Russian Imperial Movement (RIM) - meaning membership or support will carry a lengthy prison sentence A deadly neo-Nazi cult aiming to spead the "flames of Lucifer" across the world is set to be outlawed in the UK. Yvette Cooper will this week set out plans to proscribe the Maniacs Murder Cult (MMC). The vile organisation, which is believed to have been founded in Ukraine, has been linked to dozens of racist attacks and murders in Europe and America. One terrifying plot in the US would have seen a supporter dressed as Santa hand out poisoned sweets to children, prosecutors said. And sick videos shared on the Telegram messaging app show bloodied victims lying dead after savage knife attacks by newly-recuited fanatics. MMC has been named in draft legislation which also outlaws Palestine Action and the Russian Imperial Movement (RIM) - a hard-line nationalist group that has sent units to fight in Ukraine. Membership or support for any of these groups will carry hefty prison sentences. Last month MMC chief Michail Chkhikvishvili, nicknamed "Commander Butcher", appeared in a US court accused of plotting and inspiring killings around the world. The court in New York heard he 'spent years soliciting gruesome attacks from his followers'. He helped publish a manifesto known as the Hater's Handbook, the New York Times reports. This book called on readers to commit chilling acts of mass murder. Palestine Action has voiced its outrage at being included alongside MMC. It said in a statement: 'Bundling Palestine Action – a domestic civil disobedience protest group – in with foreign neo-Nazi organisations (the Moldovan 'Maniacs Murder Cult' and the Russian 'Imperialist Movement') further highlights how unjustified and preposterous the Home Secretary's proposed proscription of Palestine Action is. 'These foreign organisations are the kind of groups proscription was created to target – not protesters who disrupt arms factories and spray paint on war planes to protest war crimes and genocide.' And suspended Labour MP John McDonnell wrote: "The order published today by Yvette Cooper to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist group lists them alongside the Maniacs Murder Cult & Russian Imperial Movement/Legion. To compare a protest movement like PL with these violent, murdering terrorists is beyond all credibility." It comes as Palestine Action launched a legal challenge over the decision to proscribe it. Lawyers for co-founder Huda Ammori are seeking an interim order blocking Ms Cooper from outlawing the group. An urgent hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice was told a decision is expected next month on whether Palestine Action can mount a full legal challenge.
