2 dead in separate drownings in Manitoba on Saturday: RCMP
On Saturday afternoon, around 2 p.m., officers from the Steinbach detachment were called about a possible drowning at Reynolds Ponds in the rural municipality of Reynolds.
Police learned that a man had been swimming but didn't resurface, and bystanders weren't able to locate him.
With the help of an underwater recovery team, RCMP later found the 70-year-old Ontario man dead.

Later Saturday, around 8 p.m., Selkirk RCMP were called about an incident at Grand Beach, where two men were on the lake on a flotation device when they fell into the water.
Although a nearby kayaker was able to rescue one of the men, the other couldn't be found.

The body of a 25-year-old Winnipeg man was later recovered.
Police continue to investigate both incidents.

Emergency crews arrived and declared the driver of the Jeep, a 21-year-old woman from Drayton Valley, dead. The driver of the gravel truck had minor injuries. RCMP remained at the scene for several hours conducting an investigation, during which time that stretch of the Yellowhead was closed. N.S. RCMP arrests man believed to be connected to firearms complaint in Bridgewater
The Nova Scotia RCMP has arrested a man believed to be connected to an ongoing firearms complaint investigation by the Bridgewater Police Service. RCMP officers responded to a report of a person with a firearm in a vehicle on Highway 325 around 9:15 p.m. on July 29. Officers learned Bridgewater police were investigating a firearms complaint one hour prior, according to an RCMP news release. RCMP officers stopped the vehicle on Raven Drive and arrested Brendan Ramsey, 30. They also seized a loaded firearm and ammunition from the vehicle. Ramsey, from Rhodes Corner, is facing multiple charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and careless use of a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 24. Bridgewater case Bridgewater police said they responded to the firearms-related complaint on North Street around 8:15 p.m. on July 29. They learned a man in a parking lot allegedly pointed what was believed to be a firearm at two people before fleeing the scene. Police did not believe it was a random incident and blocked off a section of Glen Allan Drive with the RCMP on July 30. They searched a residence and found an unsecured loaded .22 calibre rifle around 1:40 a.m. They charged Brandon Tyler Feindell with multiple offences and issued a warrant for his arrest. BB gun recovered at scene of RCMP police detachment shooting, says police watchdog
Alberta's police watchdog says four RCMP officers shot at and seriously injured a man they believed had a firearm in an RCMP detachment parking lot near Edmonton late last month. In a news release Tuesday, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team said an RCMP officer spotted a man in the secure parking lot of the Strathcona County RCMP detachment in Sherwood Park, Alta., on July 28 at 10:30 a.m. ASIRT said the RCMP officer believed the man had a firearm and broadcast that information over the police radio. Other officers entered the parking lot and "provided verbal directions to the man." Four officers then shot at the man, striking him multiple times, ASIRT said. Officers immediately began providing first aid and the man was transported to hospital with serious injuries. ASIRT said the man remains in hospital and is expected to survive. A BB gun was recovered at the scene, ASIRT said. No details have been released about why the man was in the RCMP parking lot. ASIRT's mandate is to independently investigate incidents involving Alberta's police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person. It said the investigation will examine the use of force by the officers during the incident.
