The savage murderer exploded into violence as he committed the monstrous killing.
Phoenix was knifed 20 times by Methven, including ten wounds to her face, seven to her chest and three to her buttocks.
He then tried to sever her head and chop up her corpse while on a cocaine and porn binge.
The twisted sicko even sent texts to her mum pretending she was still alive.
The messages stated: "Hey sorry I've just woken up xxx". Another claimed Phoenix was apparently "all good".
Methven was also captured on CCTV driving Phoenix's red Vauxhall Corsa.
Concerns were raised when Phoenix did not turn up for work on November 18.
Methen then went on to dial 999 that afternoon stating he had had "a drug induced psychotic break" and that he had "killed" his girlfriend.
He told a 999 operator: "The past day I have been trying to kind of muster up the courage to phone."
Methven added Phoenix remained in the hall with a knife beside her. He said he had been taking steroids and cocaine, which he believed had been spiked.

Methven: "I totally blacked out through the full thing."
He mentioned having "stabbed" and "choked" Phoenix adding: "It was f***ing horrible."
Asked by an officer who came on the line if Phoenix could still be alive, Methven replied: "I know she is dead, mate - she is dead."
Cops found her naked, mutilated body with her head placed upright under her left arm.
Evil Methven is due back in the dock today where he faces a life sentence for murdering Phoenix.
Killer's warped online posts
EXCLUSIVE BY GORDON TAIT
TWISTED Ewan Methven fantasised about violence from the age of 14.
In chilling Facebook posts from his school days, the warped postman wrote: 'You've always got that one person you choke to smash f**k out of.'
Other alarming remarks, uncovered from 2013 to 2014, read: 'It's kill or be killed' and 'I always get all tingly when angry and it makes me agitated'.
The disturbing posts emerged after the fiend this week admitted killing and butchering Phoenix at their flat in East Kilbride.
His now-deleted account listed his occupation as 'Local Drug Dealer & Occasional Pornstar'.
Referring to an unknown female, Methven told how he wanted to 'kick her big horrible f****** teeth oot' in a vile post dating back to December 2015.
And he raged: 'F*** peace everybody's gony die.'
In a reply to a friend, he claims: 'I wantae kill the f*** out of you' while in another he hails hard drugs as 'the bomb'.
Sources close to the brute described him as 'popular' in his hometown but with a mean streak and a 'dead' stare.

Methven admitted the savage murder at the High Court in Glasgow last month, where his own lawyer admitted his actions were seen as "the personification of evil."
After he pled guilty, judge Lord Matthews described the bloodbath as a a 'horrible and appalling crime.'
His lawyer Tony Graham told the court: "Those related to Phoenix and those who are friends are likely to regard Ewan Methven as the personification of evil.
"While of little moment, he wishes to express publicly how truly sorry he is for the death.
"He recognises the relatives and friends will never be able to forgive him. He will not be able to forgive himself.
"He understands the bereaved will seek an explanation, but he cannot provide an explanation."

‘They sewed my ear on and pulled a bone out of my head' – Jockey kicked in face by horse lucky to be alive
As bad as it was, she can count herself fortunate SMASH UP 'They sewed my ear on and pulled a bone out of my head' – Jockey kicked in face by horse lucky to be alive Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A JOCKEY who was kicked in the face by a horse has revealed the horrifying extent of her injuries, saying: "I had my ear sewed back on and a bone pulled out of my head." Irish rider Samantha Wynne, 36, who learned her trade under the late, great Kevin Prendergast, has made a name for herself on the circuit in New Zealand. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Samantha Wynne can't remember a thing about being kicked in the face by a horse - and it's probably a good thing given the horrific injuries she suffered She combines race-riding with training - and it was while doing some of the latter she came close to death. Wynne was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries after being smacked in the head by a filly when taking horses out for training at Canterbury Park Racecourse. She needed emergency surgery for a fractured skull and severed ear. But as bad as that sounds it could have been much worse - especially when you consider a former jockey died earlier this month after being kicked as well. Wynne was able to share a positive update on her condition on Monday. She had absolutely no recollection of what happened, being instantly knocked out cold from the impact. Wynne said: "I've been in hospital for the last couple of days and I'm feeling a little bit better this morning. "I can't really remember what happened but the girls filled me in. "One of the two-year-old fillies wouldn't walk into the tie-ups and she ran backwards and kicked me in the head. "It pretty much took my ear off and I've got a fractured skull. "I was knocked out for about five or six minutes and apparently when the ambulance came I was fighting them because I didn't want to go to the hospital. Once they got me in, they gave me some good painkillers and I went into surgery that night. "I got my ear sewed back on and they removed fragments out of the fractures and pulled a bone out of my head. "They had to make sure I had no brain injuries, and I'm very lucky that I don't think I have. "There is just a lot of swelling, but hopefully that will go down and the fracture will heal. "My partner has spoken to a lot of people and I've responded to a couple. "I've been able to use my phone a little bit more today after being a bit too dizzy over the last couple of days. "I have to go for a hearing test later on and a couple of other tests as well. "I just feel upset and frustrated because I don't know what happened, but I'm grateful for the support I've had." Postman who stabbed and beheaded girlfriend jailed for life
A postman who murdered and decapitated his 21-year-old girlfriend before searching for internet pornography 170 times has been jailed for life, with a minimum of 23 years. Ewan Methven, 27, murdered Phoenix Spencer-Horn in the home they shared in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, on November 16 2024, after the couple ordered a takeaway to their flat near Glasgow. In the hours before the killing, Miss Spencer-Horn had texted her mother to say they were eating dinner. Around midnight, neighbours reported hearing 'increased activity' in the top-floor flat. The High Court in Glasgow was told that Methven attacked Miss Spencer-Horn, stabbing her 20 times, including 10 times in the face, before mutilating her body and severing her head, the court heard. Methven had also strangled her, searched for internet pornography 170 times and made repeated attempts to buy cocaine, before spending the weekend driving around in Miss Spencer-Horn's red Corsa, and texting her mother pretending she was still alive, according to prosecutors. On the day of the murder, Methven had sent a message to his partner of two years, saying that her waitress shifts made him 'lonely', the court heard. Miss Spencer-Horn was described as being in 'good spirits' by colleagues at a hotel where she worked, and had replied to her boyfriend apologising, the court heard. After the murder, Methven – who had met his partner at a family party – texted Miss Spencer-Horn's mother, Alison Spencer, pretending to be her. He texted: 'Hey sorry I've just woken up xxx' before searching for pornography, the court heard. On November 18, at about midday, he dialled 999 and told a call-handler: 'I had a psychotic break and killed my wife.' He said: 'We were messing about, I take steroids and was taking cocaine and alcohol, I think there was something else in it … it was f****** horrible.' He was transferred to a senior police officer, and said: 'I just want to go to jail', and added: 'I have been out my face, I can't remember what happened. I have been driving about all weekend.' Police officers discovered Miss Spencer-Horn's mutilated body hidden under a towel. Methven admitted attempting to remove the limbs and torso from her body with a knife or other instrument. Prosecutor Christopher McKenna previously said that on November 17, Methven accessed pornography from about 8am until about 6.30pm and was noted to have accessed a pornographic video site 170 times, according to forensic analysis. Methven pleaded guilty to murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice at the High Court in Glasgow. The court heard he had no previous convictions and, on Monday, he was jailed for 23 years after appearing by videolink at the High Court in Glasgow. Defending, Tony Graham KC, said, in 2024, Methven realised he had an addiction problem, and had written a letter to the judge saying 'in relation to the harm that could cause, it could only be harm to himself', regarding cocaine, steroids and other drugs. Mr Graham read from the letter, which said: 'I know how loved Phoenix was and how she made her family complete. I can't believe I've taken her from them.' He told the court: 'Mr Methven is in a position where he can offer no explanation as to why the course of events which led to Phoenix's death took place, other than his own self-administration of drugs.' He said that Methven 'insists he has taken the life of a person he loved, and appreciates he has caused an enormous void in that family', and 'struggles to reconcile how he could have caused that destruction', the court heard. Mr Graham said that Methven had been 'taken into the family home of Phoenix's family and appreciates in that two-year period he was adopted into that family', and described the murder as 'a betrayal', the court heard. However, he said Methven could not explain why it happened, and added: 'He has flashbacks but no real memory as to how things progressed to this destruction of human life.' Imposing a life sentence, Judge Lord Matthews said Methven had admitted a 'truly dreadful crime'. Lord Matthews said: 'At 21 years old, she was standing at the threshold of what should have been a long and fulfilling life. You were a trusted member of her family but betrayed that trust. 'For reasons no-one will ever understand, you strangled her and stabbed her 20 times, including 10 in the face. You robbed her of all dignity in death by decapitating her and trying to dismember her. 'For two days after, you indulged in drug abuse and watching pornography, contacting her mother and pretending to be her.' He added: 'The way you treated this innocent young woman after her death meant her family did not have the comfort of saying goodbye to her.' The judge told Methven: 'The letter by you answers none of the questions which must be plaguing the family. You blame the effect of substances but that is no excuse.'

Man charged with malicious mischief after ‘Stone of Destiny case smashed'
It follows an incident at Perth Museum on Saturday afternoon, where visitors reported a man in a kilt attempting to smash through the case containing the ancient artefact, which has long been associated with the monarchy. Police said they had arrested and charged someone following a 'disturbance' at the museum, which has the sandstone block as its centrepiece exhibition. On Monday, 35-year-old Arnaud Harixcalde Logan appeared at Perth Sheriff Court facing a single charge of malicious mischief. His address was listed as Sydney, Australia. No plea was entered and he was remanded in custody, with the next appearance due to take place in eight days. In Scots law, malicious mischief is an offence which deals with behaviour which damages or destroys the property of another, similar to vandalism. The artefact, also known as the Stone of Scone, was moved to Perth Museum in 2024 as part of a £27 million redevelopment. It has been associated with the Scottish and UK monarchies for centuries. The Stone of Destiny was used in Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953 and also in the coronation of the King in 2023. It was formally returned to Scotland in 1996 to go on display at Edinburgh Castle. A Police Scotland spokesperson said earlier: 'At around 1.55pm on Saturday 12 July, 2025, Police Scotland received a call regarding a disturbance at Perth Museum. 'A 35-year-old man was subsequently arrested and charged.' A spokesperson for Culture Perth and Kinross said: 'We can confirm there was an incident at Perth Museum on Saturday July 12 2025, where a man was arrested. 'Perth Museum was evacuated as a precaution and there was no damage to any artefacts on display. 'We are assisting Police Scotland with their inquiries so it would be inappropriate to comment further.'
