GAFI chief highlights tax incentives, licensing reforms to boost mining investment
His remarks came during the Egypt Mining Forum 2025, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, with the participation of prominent local and international stakeholders.
Heiba emphasised that the mining sector has long represented a strategic partnership between the government and the private sector. In recent years, the Egyptian government has prioritised enhancing the sector's competitiveness through targeted investment incentives and infrastructure development, recognising the country's significant mineral potential.
The GAFI chief detailed the incentives offered under the Investment Law for mining institutions, most notably the right to recover up to 50% of investment costs via tax deductions over a period of seven years from the project's commencement. Furthermore, mining projects can apply for the Golden Licence, which consolidates all required approvals and permits into a single licence issued within just 20 working days.
Heiba also highlighted a range of investment systems tailored to mining projects, including special free zones and dedicated investment zones, which enable investors to complete all licensing procedures in one location. He noted that GAFI now hosts Egypt's digital company registration platform and the unified investment licensing platform, adding that the digitisation of services has significantly streamlined processes and supported growth in the mining sector in recent years.

Taarek Refaat Egypt's exports witnessed impressive growth in April 2025, with key sectors posting notable increases, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), The petroleum products exports stood out with a remarkable surge of 74.3%, reaching $403.1 million in April 2025, compared to $231.2 million in the same month of 2024. The fertilizer sector also posted strong results, with exports increasing by 18.4% to $206.9 million in April 2025, compared to $174.8 million in April 2024. Fertilizers remain a staple of Egypt's agricultural exports, supporting both regional and international demand for high-quality agricultural products. Moreover, processed food products, including pasta and other prepared foods, saw a 51.4% increase in exports, reaching $198.4 million in April 2025, compared to $131 million in April 2024. This significant growth reflects Egypt's expanding role in the global food market, as the country continues to leverage its agricultural and food-processing capabilities. On the whole, Egypt's total exports grew by 19.8% in April 2025, amounting to $4.10 billion, up from $3.43 billion during the same period in 2024. Egypt to Host New Turkish Porcelain Factory in Alexandria
H-Tayea The Turkish company Kar's Bonna Porcelain has announced a major investment in Egypt, with plans to establish a 100 million US dollar production facility in the Burg Al Arab area of Alexandria. The company is moving swiftly to begin operations as soon as possible. Bonna, one of the most prominent names in Turkey's porcelain manufacturing sector, brings with it a reputation for excellence in design, quality, and industrial scale. This investment marks a significant step forward in strengthening Egypt's position in the global ceramics and porcelain market. Once operational, the facility is expected to become a key player in both regional and international porcelain supply chains. According to the company's strategic plan, 90 percent of the plant's production will be dedicated to export markets, while the remaining 10 percent will be directed toward the domestic Egyptian market. This export-driven model aligns well with Egypt's broader economic goals to increase industrial output and boost foreign currency inflows through manufacturing. I am confident that Egyptian authorities will provide Bonna with the support and facilitation needed to bring this project to life. Egypt's PM Meets German Minister to Discuss Development Cooperation
H-Tayea Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting on Sunday with Reem Alabali-Radovan, the newly appointed Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany. The meeting took place in New Alamein City and was attended by Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Rania Al-Mashat and Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty. At the outset of the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouly extended his warm welcome to the German minister and congratulated her on her new position, also offering best wishes for the success of the new German government. He noted that her visit to Egypt — particularly to New Alamein — reflects the strength and depth of Egyptian-German relations. He also highlighted the many areas in which the two nations have been cooperating, both bilaterally and in addressing broader Middle East issues. Madbouly emphasized that the longstanding partnership between Egypt and Germany is built on mutual interests and shared commitments to advancing sustainable development goals. He noted that Germany's development cooperation programs in Egypt focus on several vital areas, including the expansion of renewable energy, improved energy efficiency, technical and vocational education, water resource management, and private sector development. The Prime Minister also pointed out that Egypt and Germany have recently taken tangible steps to broaden their cooperation, through economic and development agreements, debt swap programs, and joint initiatives aimed at supporting national priorities. He reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to deepening this strategic relationship and expanding the scope of cooperation across all sectors.
