2026 4-star safety receives second prediction to land with Texas A&M
Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class already includes four-star Chace Collins, who chose the Aggies over Texas Tech earlier this month. Outside of four-star South Carolina-based safety Tamarion Watkins, four-star safety Tylan Wilson, one of the hardest hitters in the cycle out of Mississippi, has received a second prediction to land with Texas A&M, according to Rivals insider Sam Spiegelman.
Wilson had been connected to Clemson during the latter half of his recruitment. Still, after his official visit to College Station, the versatile defensive back feels that Texas A&M's defense is a perfect fit for his skill set, as coach Mike Elko is well known as one of the nation's better defensive back developers. However, credit also goes to defensive coordinator Jay Bateman and defensive back coaches Jordan Peterson and Ishmael Aristide.
As I've previously stated, landing safety prospects who can cover the deep parts of the field while serving as hybrid linebackers is vital, especially in SEC play, where most programs are capable of both passing and running effectively enough to counter any defensive weakness. Last season, the Aggies' safety rotation was average at best, primarily due to a lack of symmetry and the introduction of a new defensive system.
If Elko and his staff land Wilson, they have achieved their goal of securing at least two safeties, barring Tamarion Watkins' decision on July 13.
Standing at 6-2 and 185 pounds, Wilson is currently positioned as Rivals' 13th-ranked safety, and the 10th-ranked prospect in Mississippi. Wilson will announce his decision on July 18.

US women beat Ireland 4-0 for the second straight match
CINCINNATI -- Izzy Rodriguez scored in her first appearance for the national team and the United States shut out Ireland 4-0 on Sunday. Lynn Biyendolo, Yazmeen Ryan and Alyssa Thompson also scored for the United States, which beat Ireland by an identical score in Commerce City, Colorado, on Thursday. The United States went up early when Biyendolo took a cross from Emma Sears and calmly scored her 25th international goal in the 11th minute. Biyendolo was captain for the match. 'I say this all the time, it's such an honor to even play for the national team, be a part of camps. But to be captain, I'm going to remember this day forever,' Biyendolo said. Left back Rodriguez started in her debut and scored on a rebound goal in the 42nd minute to make it 2-0. After halftime, Sears kept the ball in play and sent it to Olivia Moultrie, who crossed to Ryan for the goal in the 66th minute. It was Ryan's first international goal. Thompson came off the bench and scored in her second straight match in the 86th minute. Rose Lavelle, who is from Cincinnati, was sent in as a substitute in the 87th minute by coach Emma Hayes after the crowd at TQL Stadium started chanting her name. Lavelle scored in Thursday's match, making her first appearance of the year for the national team after having ankle surgery. 'Emma had said she'd put me in for a little cameo at the end, so that was always the plan,' Lavelle said. 'I really appreciated that. I think it's always special coming home.' In addition to Rodriguez, Seattle Reign midfielder Sam Meza also started in her debut for the team. Hayes made 11 changes to the starting lineup from Thursday's match. Twenty-four players have made their debut for the national team in 24 games under Hayes, who has been tasked with preparing the team for qualification for the Women's World Cup. 'I think we are still pushing. We want to get a game that we score five goals. But I think that what we want right now is the ability to put anybody into the lineup, and that there's a consistency and the level doesn't drop,' Biyendolo said. The United States was without many of its Europe-based players, including Lindsay Heaps and Crystal Dunn, who Hayes was resting following the European season. Ireland was also missing a few stars, including Katie McCabe, who was given time off after the season with Arsenal, and Denise O'Sullivan, who plays for the North Carolina Courage and is injured. 'I feel like everybody is not just trusting the process, but carrying out all the things we ask them to do,' Hayes said. 'Everybody's showed themselves so, so well.'

Jaden Akins looking for next opportunity following being unselected in NBA Draft
Former Spartan Jaden Akins went unselected in NBA Draft this week -- so what's next for him? Here's the latest on Akins What's next for former Spartans star Jaden Akins? That's still an unanswered question following the NBA Draft. Akins went unselected during the 2025 NBA Draft this week, with the lone Spartan selected being Jase Richardson by the Orlando Magic with the No. 25 overall pick. Akins wasn't expected to be selected in the two rounds of the NBA Draft, but there was always an outside chance someone would take a flier on him. So what's next for Akins now? Well, we should be seeing him picked up by a team as an undrafted free agent ahead of the NBA summer league. Oddly, though, we haven't seen Akins sign anywhere yet -- which I personally expected to happen by the end of the weekend. Akins started all 72 of the Spartans' games over the last two seasons, averaging double-digits in scoring in both years and providing stellar defensive presence as well. He is slightly undersized for the NBA, though, which ultimately hurt his professional stock in the NBA. Akins worked out for a few teams during the pre-draft process, including the Utah Jazz and Milwaukee Bucks, so we should keep our eyes out for either of those teams signing him for summer league play. I anticipate he will be getting a chance to show what he has at the next level during summer league, and we should hopefully hear of a signing in the next week. Scrumhalf Tomos Williams out of British and Irish Lions tour with a hamstring injury
Associated Press BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — Tomos Williams has been ruled out of the British and Irish Lions rugby tour of Australia after injuring his left hamstring in the opening win over Western Force in Perth on the weekend. Lions management confirmed Monday while announcing the squad to play Queensland that the Welsh scrumhalf had sustained a tour-ending injury and Toulon, France-based Scotland scrumhalf Ben White had been drafted into the squad. 'This is desperately sad news for Tomos and we wish him all the very best in his recovery," Lions tour manager Ieuan Evans said. "Tomos is an exemplary Lion who has had a brilliant season having joined the tour after being named as Premiership Rugby's player-of-the-season. 'He lit up this Lions Tour with both his personality and his talent.' Williams scored two tries in the 54-7 win over the Perth-based Force, limping off after finishing off a long-range try early in the second half. The Lions are playing nine matches in Australia, including three test matches on July 19, 26 and Aug. 2. Head coach Andy Farrell recalled tour captain Maro Itoje to lead the Lions on Wednesday night against Queensland in Brisbane, and he'll pack down in the second row with fellow Englishman Ollie Chessum. The matchday 23 has been overhauled again to give the full squad a chance to acclimatize. Scotland flyhalf Finn Russell was retained at No. 10 in a new halves combination with Ireland scrumhalf Jamison Gibson-Park, who will make his Lions debut. Bundee Aki and Glasgow and Huw Jones will form a new center combination. Leinster and Ireland teammates Andrew Porter and Ronan Kelleher will join Bath tighthead Will Stuart in the front row. Ireland No. 8 Jack Conan will start in a bakrow that also contains Tom Curry and Jac Morgan. 'We know each game on this your will be a step up from the game before and three more players are set to make their Lions debuts on Wednesday night, so congratulations to those guys," Lions head coach Andy Farrell said. The Lions beat Queensland 22-12 in the corresponding tour game in 2013 before going on to win the test series 2-1 against Australia. ___ Squad to play Queensland: Hugo Keenan (Ireland), Tommy Freeman (England), Huw Jones (Scotland), Bundee Aki (Ireland), Duhan van der Merwe (Scotland), Finn Russell (Scotland), Jamison Gibson-Park (Ireland); Jack Conan (Ireland), Jac Morgan (Wales), Tom Curry (England), Ollie Chessum (England), Maro Itoje England, captain), Will Stuart (England), Ronan Kelleher (Ireland), Andrew Porter (Ireland).
