Dalai Lama Affirms Reincarnation Will Continue, Says Only His Office Can Decide the 15th Successor
In a major announcement after his 90th birthday, the 14th Dalai Lama has confirmed that the centuries-old institution of the Dalai Lama will continue after his death. In a video message to a global gathering of Tibetan Buddhist leaders in Dharamshala, he stated that only the Gaden Phodrang Trust, his official office, has the exclusive right to identify his reincarnation, shutting out any claim of Chinese involvement. Amid growing concerns that Beijing may attempt to impose its own successor, the exiled spiritual leader said he has received appeals from Tibetans in exile and in Tibet, as well as Buddhists from Mongolia, the Himalayas, Russia, and China. His declaration has major spiritual and geopolitical implications, as it safeguards Tibetan cultural autonomy and asserts the right of spiritual self-determination. The message was a clear rebuttal to China's claims of control over religious succession in Tibet.#dalailama #tibet #reincarnation #chinaandtibet #tibetanbuddhism #freedomfortibet #gadenphodrang #nonviolence #spiritualrights #humanrights #toi #toibharat #bharat #breakingnews #indianews

Tibetans in exile wonder, will the next Dalai Lama be as charismatic as this one?

DHARAMSHALA: The Dalai Lama has announced that he intends to reincarnate, paving the way for a successor to take on a mantle stretching back 500 years after his death. But as he approaches his 90th birthday, that news hasn't eased the worries of Tibetan Buddhists who wonder: What will happen when this Dalai Lama is gone? For decades, the 14th Dalai Lama has been more than a spiritual leader. He has sustained a nation in exile and managed to build a community that's kept the Tibetan culture and identity alive. He is the China -reviled spokesperson for a Tibetan homeland that many, like him, can see only from afar. He has received a Nobel Peace Prize and been courted by royalty, politicians and Hollywood stars, helping him draw global attention and support for Tibet. When his death comes, it will pitch the global Tibetan community into uncertainty, perhaps for years. His successor will have to be found through the traditional process of reincarnation. China, whose troops took control of Tibet in 1950, says it will reject anyone chosen without Beijing's consent. Tibetans in India's Himalayan town of Dharamshala, the Dalai Lama's home in exile, and scattered around the world fear a new onslaught on their cultural and religious identity. 'The absence of His Holiness would be a huge setback for the Tibetans,' said Penpa Tsering, the head of the democratically elected Tibetan government-in-exile. 'The responsibility lies on us as to how we carry forward the legacy of His Holiness.'

Supply Chain Sabotage? China's Manpower Withdrawal From Foxconn India Raises Red Flags

According to top intelligence sources, China's move aims to tarnish India's reputation as a reliable global supply chain partner. China is strategically targeting India's ambition to become a global manufacturing hub, top intelligence sources have told CNN-News18. This is exemplified by the recent withdrawal of Foxconn manpower, which has disrupted the production of the iPhone. Foxconn Technology Group has asked hundreds of Chinese engineers and technicians working in India's iPhone factories to return home, financial news agency Bloomberg said in a report. According to top intelligence sources, this move aims to tarnish India's reputation as a reliable global supply chain partner. China's actions coincide with India's efforts to expand high-tech manufacturing in electronics and electric vehicles under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and the Make in India initiative. Top intelligence sources indicate that these non-kinetic moves follow a period during which President Xi Jinping was notably absent from the public eye for nearly two weeks. Such tactics are designed to signal to multinational companies that establishing operations in India might invite Chinese retaliation in the future, sources say. Intelligence sources confirm that China has been involved in coordinated delay actions that include withdrawing over 300 Chinese engineers from Foxconn's India plants and delaying export approvals for critical machinery, alongside restrictions on magnet exports. These disruptions are not isolated incidents but represent a threat to India's economic security and strategic autonomy. According to top intelligence sources, these actions are timed to affect deliveries during tariff-sensitive periods, particularly in light of the tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump on non-US-made iPhones. This has pressured Apple to increase production in India. The delays force Apple to either absorb the additional costs or reconsider its focus on India as an export hub, say sources. The impact of disruptions at large factories like Foxconn's extends beyond the immediate loss of 300 engineers. Top intelligence sources warn that the livelihoods of thousands of Indian workers and the broader supporting industries will also be significantly affected. First Published:

Farmers sinking deeper into debt: Rahul Gandhi criticises Modi govt

Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday alleged that farmers are sinking "deeper" into debt every day and stated that this system is "killing" farmers quietly, but relentlessly, while Modi ji who promised to "double" farmer's income is "busy" watching his own PR spectacle. In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi cited a media report that claimed 767 farmers in Maharashtra have taken their own lives in just three months. "Imagine... in just 3 months, 767 farmers in Maharashtra have taken their own lives. Is this just a statistic? No. These are 767 shattered homes. 767 families that will never recover. And the government? Silent. Watching with indifference". Rahul Gandhi highlighted that, "Farmers are sinking deeper into debt every day--seeds are expensive, fertilizers are expensive, diesel is expensive... but there's no guarantee of MSP. When they demand loan waivers, they are ignored" He alleged, "But those with billions? Their loans are easily waived by the Modi government. Just look at today's news--Anil Ambani's ₹48,000 crore SBI "fraud." "Modi ji promised to double farmers' income--today, the reality is that the lives of those who feed the nation are being cut in half. This system is killing farmers--quietly, but relentlessly, while Modi ji is busy watching his own PR spectacle," the Congress MP noted. Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday, raised concerns over India's growing dependence on "Made in China" products, calling it a serious threat to the nation's agricultural backbone. In a post on X, Rahul cited a media report that claimed that India's agricultural sector, the backbone of its economy, is facing a severe crisis due to foreign dependence on essential fertilisers. The country imports 80% of its specialty fertilisers from China, and the recent halt in supplies has sent shockwaves through the farming community. "India is an agrarian country, and the farmer is the backbone of our economy. But today, that very backbone is bending under the weight of foreign dependence. India imports 80% of its speciality fertilisers from China, and now China has halted the supply," he said. Rahul Gandhi said that the farmers are already struggling with shortages of essential fertilisers like urea and DAP. The addition of specialty fertilisers to the list of scarce resources has further exacerbated the situation. "This isn't the first time, farmers across the country are still struggling with shortages of essential fertilisers like urea and DAP, and now a new 'Chinese crisis' looms over speciality fertilisers. On one hand, the Prime Minister is busy printing his photos on fertiliser sacks, while on the other, our farmers are becoming increasingly dependent on "Made in China," Rahul Gandhi said. Further, the Congress MP accused the government of negligence and failing to promote domestic production despite repeated warnings, adding that the government has failed to formulate a policy or plan to promote domestic production of fertilisers, leaving farmers dependent on imports. "Despite knowing that this supply could be disrupted at any moment, the government made no preparations. When the need of the hour was to promote domestic production, they made no policy, no plan," Rahul said."Will the Indian farmer now be helpless even in his own soil? As precious time and healthy crops are lost, the farmer, drowning in debt and despair, is asking: 'Kiska Sath, Kiska Vikas," he added.
