Browns owners close on $25 million home after Ohio gives them $600 million for new stadium
The oceanfront home is 5,906 square feet on 1.1 acres of land. It was purchased through Dee Haslam's Knox-Main Trust.

The home, which was built in 1971, was purchased in an off-market sale. It was previously sold in 1990 for $3.2 million. It's inside the gated Lost Tree Village neighborhood.
In a situation that's been controversial, the optics of such a move cannot be considered ideal.
The Haslam Sports Group received a gift from the state in the recently passed budget bill.
And, yes, it's basically a gift that won't have to be repaid, contrary to reports that said that tax revenues from the proposed entertainment district with a domed stadium as its centerpiece, would replace monies taken from the state's unclaimed funds account.

In the budget the Republican-dominated state legislature established a Sports and Cultural Facility Fund with monies from holdings in the unclaimed funds account.

Cleveland.com reported that the $600 million will not have to be repaid. The Haslam Sports Group was only required to put $100 million in escrow to cover potential stadium shortfalls. If there are no shortfalls, that money will be returned.
That gift could face obstacles as two former Democratic members of the legislature have filed a class-action suit on behalf of three individuals to halt the transfer of funds in Franklin County Court.

First round - WR Jordyn Tyson - Arizona State The best route runner in the draft and a complete receiver who can take over a game. The Browns have cobbled together a very average group of receivers this season and can't expect to compete with this combination of talent. Second round - DE LT Overton - Alabama A defense line Cleveland's can never have enough big bodies up front who can rush the passer and stuff the run and Overton is a budding star. Third round - WR Eric Singleton Jr. - Auburn We go back to wide receiver here because Singleton is just such an explosive playmaker and a perfect player to pair up with Tyson no matter who is the starting quarterback.

'Not Smart' - Shedeur Sanders Officially Called Out By Browns
The Cleveland Browns selected Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of this year's NFL Draft, giving the former Colorado quarterback an opportunity after his slide through the first several rounds. Sanders is set to compete with three other quarterbacks for the starting job in training camp and the preseason, but he raised eyebrows during the offseason for the wrong reasons. The rookie quarterback was cited for two separate speeding tickets this offseason, issues that caused some to question his maturity - and perhaps to justify why he was selected in the fifth round of the draft. The Browns are standing by Sanders despite the controversy, but general manager Andrew Berry acknowledged the issue on Thursday at the team's practice facility. "Not smart. Just not smart," Berry said while speaking to reporters. "It's something that we've addressed with him. Look, he understands the implications, he understands the consequences. It's not just about yourself. It's not just about having a joyride, but that you could injure other people...a deer or something cuts out in front of you, your reaction time. It's just dangerous." Sanders was officially cited twice for speeding in June. The first incident took place on June 5, when he was pulled over by the Ohio State Patrol, who said the quarterback was driving at 91 MPH in a 65 mph zone. The second citation came in the middle of the month, and police records indicate that Sanders was driving at 101 MPH in a 60 mph zone. Following his speeding violations, Sanders has been active in the Cleveland community. He organized a community event after a devastating fire that displaced more than 40 residents from an apartment complex in the city. The "Garden Valley Fun Fest" included free food, games haircuts and more for local residents. "I just wanted a day for everybody to get out here and have some type of enjoyment, excitement, bring just the family atmosphere back," Sanders said, speaking to News 5 Cleveland. The rookie attended the event with his teammate Mike Hall Jr., a former standout for the Ohio State Buckeyes. We'll see how Sanders' rookie season goes as he embarks on his NFL journey.
