Gov't forum reviews Public Service and Administration Commission achievements The Government Communication Forum held a meeting with media representatives on Wednesday on the Public Service and Administration Commission's achievements and aspirations in its second Year. اضافة اعلان The commission's chairman Fayez Al-Nahar said his institution carried out its new role in drawing up policies, technical and advisory support, and oversight and compliance. He went over the stages of the commission's establishment, the reasons for change in its roles, and areas of work, which include leadership, human resources, government services, joint services, corporate culture, organizational structures, and institutional planning and development. Al-Nahar said the new public sector recruitment strategy primarily relies on open advertisements, noting that the commission has carried out 70 percent of recruitments through open adverts and only 30 percent were via the available competitive inventory, which will be canceled entirely by 2027 with the aim of ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all. The public sector recruitment strategy, he said, currently adopts an integrated approach to keep pace with transformations in human resources management and ensure optimal utilization of national competencies, as it starts with proactive planning of job needs through the Human Resources Planning Committee. Job openings are then announced on official websites and daily newspapers, ensuring transparency and equal opportunity, he added. Government entities, he said, screen applications and identify a list of candidates according to the job requirements, and competencies are then assessed using specific tools and criteria, including tests and personal interviews with a focus on skills needed, knowledge, and behaviors. Interviews are conducted by specialized committees, while the Competency Assessment Center offers various tools to objectively evaluate applicants, enhancing selection accuracy, added Al-Nahar. Ministry of Government Communication Secretary General Zaid Nawaiseh said the Public Service and Administration Commission was established after implementation of the public sector modernization roadmap began, and that its outcomes are in line with the political and economic modernization scheme as a gateway to the second centennial of the Jordanian state. The commission, he said, began work on the human resources system and amendments to the civil service system, which he called "a historic transformation" in Jordanian public administration.

Putin meets Syrian FM in Moscow as ties reset

Russian President Vladimir Putin received Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani at the Kremlin on Thursday, marking the first high-level visit from Syria's new government since the ousting of longtime President Bashar al-Assad in December. Earlier in the day, al-Shibani met with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, in what both sides described as a step toward reshaping the future of Syrian-Russian relations. Al-Shibani said Damascus aims to establish a 'correct and healthy' partnership with Moscow and is reassessing previous agreements signed under Assad's rule. 'We are here to represent the new Syria,' he declared, expressing hope for full cooperation in support of transitional justice and national reconciliation. 'There are great opportunities for Syria to emerge strong and united,' al-Shibani added, urging Russia to stand alongside the country as it rebuilds. Lavrov welcomed the visit, saying Moscow looks forward to the participation of Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa in the first Russia-Arab summit scheduled for October 15. The two foreign ministers launched discussions on future cooperation, including economic recovery and regional stability. Al-Shibani described the dialogue as 'strategic' and said Syria is 'extending its hand to the world' after years of isolation. In a veiled reference to the former regime, he noted that foreign relations had previously been misused against the Syrian people—a dynamic he said is now changing. Security, economic cooperation on the table Lavrov described the talks as 'very useful,' adding that the Syrian delegation will continue meetings with various Russian authorities. He said the two sides discussed trade, security, and economic cooperation under the 'new conditions,' and agreed to revive the Syrian-Russian joint committee to explore mutually beneficial projects. Lavrov also emphasized that all matters related to military and security collaboration remain of high interest to Syrian officials. On sanctions, Lavrov reiterated Russia's long-standing position, calling for the lifting of US sanctions on Syria, which he said have harmed ordinary Syrians rather than targeting political leaders. He reaffirmed Moscow's support for Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity and cautioned against turning the country into a battleground for global power rivalries. Military meetings In parallel, Syrian Defense Minister Marhaf Abu Qasra, Foreign Minister al-Shibani, and Intelligence Chief Hussein Salameh met with Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov. The two sides reportedly discussed joint military concerns to strengthen bilateral defense ties, according to Syrian state media. The visit signals a shift in Syrian foreign policy under the new leadership and an effort to reposition Syria diplomatically after over a decade of civil conflict and international isolation.

Jordan begins legal action over concealed assets linked to Muslim Brotherhood

Jordanian authorities have initiated a series of legal procedures targeting individuals suspected of hiding assets tied to the banned Muslim Brotherhood group, according to a source quoted by the Jordan News Agency (Petra). The action comes after the end of a one-month grace period on June 14, which was granted by the government-appointed dissolution committee. The Ministry of Social Development had called on anyone in possession of property or funds on behalf of the group to step forward and regularize their status before the matter was transferred to judicial authorities. During the grace period, several individuals submitted written statements denying ownership of certain assets. However, many acknowledged that they were holding properties and bank accounts on behalf of the banned group. In these cases, authorities reached settlements and redirected the assets to the Ministry's Associations Support Fund, in line with Article 25 of the Associations Law. Some individuals, listed as joint owners of land or real estate, reportedly admitted they were not the real owners but had been asked by the Brotherhood to act as proxies. Others, however, refused to acknowledge such arrangements and continued to claim ownership. In one notable case, people with authority over a joint bank account in a Jordanian governorate confessed that the funds were not theirs, but rather belonged to the group. The money was subsequently recovered and transferred to the government's fund through official channels. The source stated that anyone who knowingly conceals assets on behalf of the banned group could face serious legal consequences, including charges of money laundering and breach of trust. These charges may be applied particularly in cases where individuals reject the evidence presented to them, such as financial audits and expert reviews.
