JOHN RAMBO Origin Movie Is Charging Into Development With The Director of SISU — GeekTyrant

Geek Tyrant15-05-2025
John Rambo is coming back, but this time he'll be younger, angrier, and with a whole war ahead of him. Millennium Media is officially launching John Rambo , a prequel to Rambo: First Blood , and they're taking it to market at Cannes.
Stepping in to direct the origin story is Rare Exports , Big Game , and Sisu director Jalmari Helander, a guy who knows his way around gritty action with emotional punch.
The script comes from writing duo Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani ( Black Adam, The Mauritanian, Informer ), with production aiming to kick off in Thailand this October.
Casting is still in progress, but it's going to focus on a young Rambo during the Vietnam War.
As for Sylvester Stallone, he's aware of the project but not currently involved. However, producers haven't ruled out a potential role for him. If the right part comes along, the door's open. Stallone had his own vision for a prequel film, previously sharing:
'I always thought of Rambo when he was 16 or 17 – I hope they can do the prequel – he was the best person you could find. He was the captain of the team; he was the most popular kid in school; super athlete. He was like Jim Thorpe, and the war is what changed him. If you saw him before, he was like the perfect guy.'
Millennium President Jonathan Yunger called the new chapter 'a tribute to one of the best franchises in movie history,' adding:
'We are thrilled to introduce a fresh new chapter to the Rambo legacy. This project is a tribute to one of the best franchises in movie history that will appeal to both longtime fans and new audiences alike.
'With Jalmari Helander at the helm—a filmmaker of exceptional vision and energy—we've found the perfect director to deliver a high-concept action-packed experience.'
Helander, who's clearly living a childhood dream, said:
'I have been the biggest fan of Rambo since the age of 11. It is so surreal to be in a situation where I can actually make my own Rambo movie.
'The chain of events that got me here makes, in a fantastic way, my whole childhood make sense. I can't wait to bring the greatest action hero back to the big screen where he belongs!'
This is the first time the Rambo universe is peeling back the layers of its legendary hero to show who he was before the bloodshed began. While details about the story are still under wraps, given the creative team involved, expect it to be intense and loaded with crazy action.
The original First Blood hit theaters in 1982 and was based on David Morell's novel. Stallone's portrayal of the tormented Vietnam vet turned survivalist icon launched a five-film franchise that earned more than $800 million worldwide. The most recent installment, Rambo: Last Blood (2019), brought in $92M at the box office.
John Rambo is being produced by Kevin King-Templeton, Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger, and Avi Lerner, with executive producers Trevor Short, Dallas Sonnier, and Amanda Presmyk.
One thing's clear… Rambo's legacy is far from over.

Tulsa King Season 3: Release date rumors, cast updates and what to expect next

By Aman Shukla Published on July 21, 2025, 18:00 IST Last updated July 21, 2025, 11:24 IST Alright, Tulsa King fans, let's talk about Season 3! After that wild Season 2 finale, we're all itching to know what's next for Dwight 'The General' Manfredi and his Tulsa crew. Sylvester Stallone's crime drama has us hooked, and with production already rolling, the buzz is real. So, when's it dropping? Who's back? And what kind of chaos is coming? Here's the latest scoop on Tulsa King Season 3, packed with rumors, cast news, and some guesses about what's next. Release Date Rumors: When Will Tulsa King Season 3 Premiere? No official release date yet, but the rumor mill's churning. Paramount+ hasn't spilled the beans, but we've got some clues. Filming kicked off in March 2025, with sets popping up in Atlanta and Oklahoma, per posts on the Tulsa King X account and local news outlets. Season 2 filmed from April to August 2024 and hit Paramount+ in September 2024, so we're thinking Season 3 could land around September or October 2025. Some folks are betting on early 2026 if post-production takes longer, but Paramount+ seems to want to keep the momentum going after Season 2's massive viewership. Remember the long wait between Seasons 1 and 2? That was partly because of the 2023 Hollywood strikes. With no major delays this time, fingers crossed we're looking at a quicker turnaround. Stay glued to Paramount+ or their socials for a trailer or official date drop. Cast Updates: Who's Returning and Who's New? Sylvester Stallone's back as Dwight Manfredi, the slick New York mobster running Tulsa's underworld. The guy's still got it, and he's the heart of the show. Most of the Season 2 crew is expected to return, keeping the vibe tight: Garrett Hedlund as Mitch, the bar owner and Dwight's ride-or-die. Martin Starr as Bodhi, the chill weed shop guy who's smarter than he looks. Jay Will as Tyson, Dwight's loyal driver turned family. Max Casella as Armand, the nervous but lovable mob guy. Dana Delany as Margaret, Dwight's rancher girlfriend with big influence. Annabella Sciorra as Joanne, Dwight's sister, who's stepping up her game. Tatiana Zappardino as Tina, Dwight's daughter, still navigating their rocky bond. Frank Grillo as Bill Bevilaqua, the Kansas City mobster with a love-hate thing for Dwight. Vincent Piazza as Vince Antonacci, now running the Invernizzi family in New York. Neal McDonough as Cal Thresher, who might be Oklahoma's new governor, stirring up trouble. Season 3's also bringing some big names to the table, and it's got us pumped: Samuel L. Jackson plays Russell Lee Washington Jr., a New York enforcer sent to take Dwight down but maybe inspired by him instead. Word is, he's also getting a NOLA King spinoff in New Orleans. Robert Patrick as Jeremiah Dunmire, a liquor tycoon who's about to mess with Dwight's weed business. Beau Knapp as Cole Dunmire, Jeremiah's unhinged son. Bella Heathcote as Cleo Montague, a distillery heiress who could be a friend or foe. James Russo as Quite Ray Renzetti, a New York mob boss adding East Coast drama. Kevin Pollak as Special Agent Musso, an FBI guy with a personal vendetta against Dwight. Bad news? We're saying goodbye to a couple of folks. Chickie (Domenick Lombardozzi) got whacked in Season 2, so he's out. Stacy (Andrea Savage) was shipped off to Alaska, so she's probably not back either. These new faces, though, are gonna keep things spicy. What to Expect in Tulsa King Season 3 That Season 2 ending? Oof. Dwight and Margaret were chilling in bed when masked gunmen stormed in, nabbed Dwight, and hit him with a cryptic 'You work for us now.' Who are 'they'? That's the million-dollar question. Some fans think it's a government crew, maybe tied to that FBI file swap in D.C. from the finale. With Kevin Pollak's FBI agent joining the cast, Dwight's probably got some legal heat coming his way. Season 2 saw Dwight trying to go legit with his weed business and making shaky deals with rivals like Bill and Cal. But Season 3's gonna test that. The new players—especially Jeremiah Dunmire and his son—sound like they're ready to throw wrenches in Dwight's plans. Plus, with Chickie gone, New York's mob scene is a mess, and Stallone's recent X post about filming in NYC hints Dwight might head back east. Samuel L. Jackson's character could be a wildcard, maybe teaming up with Dwight or double-crossing him. Dave Erickson's now running the show solo, taking over from Terence Winter and Craig Zisk. If you've seen his work, you know he's got a knack for gritty, character-driven stories. Expect more of that Tulsa King mix: intense drama, a few laughs, and Dwight being a total boss while dodging bullets (literal and figurative). Oh, and with Cal possibly becoming governor, there's a whole new power game in Tulsa. Ahmedabad Plane Crash Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication . SINGAPORE - Collectors can now get their hands on three intricately designed commemorative medallions marking several key milestones in 2025 for the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Launched by the Singapore Mint as part of a special collaboration with the Gardens, the medallions feature its three iconic landmarks - the Bandstand, the Singapore Herbarium, and the Burkin Hall at the National Orchid Garden. Each medallion, available in both gold and silver, commemorates one of its landmark anniversaries, the National Parks Board said in a statement. These are the 10th anniversary of Gardens' inception as a Unesco World Heritage Site, the 30th anniversary of the National Orchid Garden, and the 150th anniversary of the Singapore Herbarium and Library of Botany and Horticulture. The medallions are sold individually and in three-in-one collector sets, and can be purchased at all Singapore Mint retail outlets and on Light shows, performances and other festivities For the first time, visitors can enjoy a nightly light show at the Gardens and watch the Swan Lake and Tanglin Gate bathed in multi-coloured light. The light show will take place between 7.30pm and 10pm, from July 19 to Aug 10. It will be complemented by light installations at the Bandstand, Clock Tower at Orchid Plaza, and Palm Court near Nassim Visitor Services Centre. The light-up is part of the 10th edition of the Singapore Botanic Gardens Heritage Festival held from July 19 to 27 and featuring over 40 free activities for visitors. Other festival highlights include musical performances, outdoor movie screenings, guided tours and hands-on workshops. Visitors can step into the shoes of scientists, with a workshop allowing them to conduct practical laboratory tasks, such as DNA extraction using bananas and cell staining with onion roots. This allows them to take a glimpse into the plant conservation work that happens behind the scenes in the Gardens. The Gardens has also released the second edition of Gardens of Perpetual Summer, a publication that traces its history and legacy since its establishment in 1859. How Soon Will ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' Begin Streaming?

Greg Tarzan Davis, Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg and Hayley Atwell in "Mission Impossible: The Final ... More Reckoning." Since Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning was released in theaters nearly two months ago, how soon will it be available on digital streaming? Starring Cruise as Impossible Mission Force Agent Ethan Hunt for the eighth and possibly final time, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning opened in theaters on May 23. The film picks up after the events of 2023's Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, where Ethan and his fellow IMF agents including Grace (Hayley Atwell), Benji (Simon Pegg), Luther (Ving Rhames) and new allies Paris (Pom Klementieff) and Degas (Greg Tarzan Davis) attempt to thwart the self-aware AI program The Entity from taking over the world's nuclear stockpile. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning also stars Esai Morales, the main villain who is trying to gain possession of The Entity and Angela Bassett as U.S. President Erika Sloane. Generally, the Mission: Impossible franchise's studio, Paramount Pictures, releases its films on digital streaming via premium video on demand about a month after they open in theaters, no matter the size of the release. For example, Ridley Scott's big-budget spectacle Gladiator II was released in theaters on Nov. 22, 2024, and arrived on PVOD just over a month later, on Dec. 24. After that, the studio's live-action and animated hybrid Sonic the Hedgehog 3 opened in theaters on Dec. 20, 2024, and arrived on PVOD on Jan. 21. In the lower-budgeted realm, Paramount released Jack Quaid's action comedy Novocaine in theaters on March 14 and it debuted on PVOD about three and a half weeks later, on April 8. Since Cruise is without question one of the industry's biggest proponents of the theatrical experience (which he speaks about in a May interview with BFI), it shouldn't come as a big surprise that he wants moviegoers to see Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on the big screen without any quick home entertainment options. However, since the film's theater count is down to 705 venues this weekend (it debuted in 3,857 theaters on May 23) and looks to be dropping out of the domestic top 10 this weekend (on Friday it earned $230,000 for a No. 11 finish, per The Numbers), a transition to PVOD would seem to be imminent. However, the pattern for Cruise's last M:I film suggests otherwise. Released in theaters on July 12, 2023, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, Part 1 —the film was later rebranded and dropped the Part 1 from the tite — it took nearly three months for the film to arrive on PVOD on Oct. 10. If Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning were to follow the same release pattern of its predecessor, that would put the digital release's debut sometime between Aug. 19 and Aug. 26, since new films generally arrive on PVOD on Tuesdays. When to Stream, however, believes that Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning will arrive a bit quicker on PVOD. In the site's latest Streaming Tracking Report, When to Stream — which is typically accurate with its PVOD reporting — is estimating an early to mid-August digital release for the film. How Was Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Received By Audiences And Critics? Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning to date has earned nearly $195.2 million domestically and $389.7 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $584.9 million. The film had a production budget of $400 million before prints and advertising, according to The Numbers. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning had an 80% 'fresh' rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics based on 408 reviews. The RT Critics Consensus reads, 'Gargantuan in action, runtime, and scope, The Final Reckoning is a sentimental sendoff for Ethan Hunt that accomplishes its mission with a characteristic flair for the impossible.' The film also earned an 88% 'fresh' audience score based on 10,000-plus verified user ratings. The RT audience summary for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning simply reads, 'Mission: Accomplished.' The official PVOD release date for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will be reported on as soon as the information becomes available.
