Bryan Mbeumo excited to follow in Ronaldo's footsteps at ‘biggest club' Man Utd

After seven weeks and some tense talks between the clubs, the 25-year-old finally completed his move from Brentford on Monday for £65million plus a potential £6million in add-ons.
Mbeumo has signed a deal until 2030, with the option of a further season, at what he calls the 'club of my dreams' – one whose shirt he wore as a kid growing up in France.
A post shared by Manchester United (@manchesterunited)
'For me, it's the biggest club in the world, in England as well. I think the fans are crazy, the stadium is amazing, and I think every player wants to play here.
'I think my first top was a Manchester United top with Ronaldo behind. It's just such a big club and, yeah, I'm really happy to be here.'
Mbeumo says he idolised Ronaldo and Lionel Messi growing up, as well as admiring Neymar and Eden Hazard, and joins Matheus Cunha in bolstering what has been a blunt United attack.
The forward says the Brazil international will 'bring something new' to a team that he is excited to get to know better when they head to the United States for their pre-season tour on Tuesday.
'I think it's really important for me joining a new club,' Mbeumo said. 'It's important to create links as soon as possible, automatism as well with the team-mates, so in and out the pitch.
'The spirit is really important. Yeah, create a group, being involved as soon as possible, for me, it's something really important.'
Turning up for his first day in style 😎

Mbeumo links up with United after scoring 20 Premier League goals for Brentford under Thomas Frank, who has since moved on to Tottenham and is someone he sees similarly to new boss Ruben Amorim.
'I think they have similar values,' he said. 'He seems really close to his players and his mentality, his winning thinking every time. This is a thing that I need.
'It seems to be a really good group. I think the spirit is really important for winning and, yeah, with the gaffer I heard only good things about the team.'

Harvey Elliott raises doubt over Liverpool future after West Ham approach

Harvey Elliott admits he is open to leaving Liverpool after receiving interest from West Ham. The 22-year-old made 31 appearances for the Premier League champions last season but started just six games in all competitions. However, Elliott was one of England's standout performers at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship last month as Lee Carsley's side beat Germany in the final to retain the trophy. Elliott was crowned UEFA's official Player of the Tournament after scoring five goals in the competition from midfield. Meanwhile, West Ham have been in talks with Liverpool this month to discuss a deal for Elliott before the start of the new Premier League campaign. And Elliott, who has linked back up with Liverpool's squad for their pre-season tour to Hong Kong and Japan, has suggested he needs to secure more playing time in order to be in contention for a place in England's World Cup squad next year. 'Look, if I had it my way, I'd be here for the rest of my career, it's as simple as that, I love everything about the club,' Elliott told The Anfield Wrap in Hong Kong. More Trending 'But at the same time I kind of need to be selfish with myself and see what's best for me. 'I have big ambitions. I want to go to the World Cup. I want to keep being successful as a player. 'I think it's still something I need to review. I need to have a talk with everyone, really and review the situation because we've had many new players come in, so whether it blocks the path for me I'm not sure, it's something I need to decide and have a look at. 'My main focus is here now. At the moment I'm here for the season, as far as I'm aware, unless if anything changes, we have a busy pre-season, it's non-stop, I need to make sure I'm focus on that and just be ready for everything.' Alexander Isak considers flying the Magpies nest, report suggests

The Daily Mail reported the news on Thursday morning, hours after the club confirmed Isak was not part of the Newcastle squad travelling to Asia for pre-season friendlies due to a minor thigh injury. Isak's 23 Premier League goals last season made him one of the world's hottest properties, and he has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks. Eddie Howe has an almost fully-fit squad to choose from, however Alexander Isak misses out with a minor thigh injury. Lewis Hall is available following an injury lay-off and could feature in South Korea. — Newcastle United (@NUFC) July 24, 2025 Newcastle were not immediately available for comment. Mail Sport reported the club's hierarchy were now aware of Isak's desire to explore the possibility of a transfer this summer. Isak still has three years left on his contract at Newcastle, who he joined in the summer of 2022 from Spanish side Real Sociedad. Liverpool were reported to be interested in signing Isak earlier this month, at the same time as the two clubs were in the hunt for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. The Reds have since signed Ekitike, understood to be for an initial £69million with a further £10m in potential add-ons.

Alexander Isak tells Newcastle he wants to LEAVE as Liverpool consider £125m transfer

Alexander Isak has told Newcastle that he wants to explore a move away in a bombshell development. Isak, 25, has put Liverpool on red alert after they made an approach to sign him last week. The Premier League champions were told by Newcastle that the striker wasn't for sale and Liverpool turned their focus to fellow striker Hugo Ekitike. On Wednesday, Liverpool announced the signing of 23-year-old Ekitike after agreeing a £79million deal with Eintracht Frankfurt. It then emerged that Isak hadn't travelled with Newcastle's squad for their pre-season tour of Asia. Newcastle insisted that the Swede has been nursing a minor thigh injury and medical staff were concerned about the long-haul flight. However, as first reported by The Daily Mail, Isak has informed Newcastle that he wishes to consider his options and explore a transfer away from the club. He also doesn't want to commit to signing a new contract, with his current deal not expiring until 2028. Eddie Howe revealed following Saturday's friendly with Celtic that he'd sent Isak home because of the 'speculation' over his future. If Newcastle were forced to sell, they'd demand a fee in excess of £125m - a new British record. Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal have also been linked with a money-spinning move, but are, of course, have the same overall ownership as the Magpies. Howe explained Isak's absence for the Celtic game, a 4-0 loss, post-match. "It was my decision. He travelled back to Glasgow with us but I decided to send him home due to the speculation around him," the Magpies boss confirmed. "The last thing he wanted is to be sat in the stand watching, that wasn't fair to him. But I'm confident he will be a Newcastle player come the end of the window. "It's difficult for me to give 100 per cent clarity on any player. Alex is happy at Newcastle, he loves the players, the staff, the team. I'm confident he'll be here at the start of the season. Should Liverpool make a bid for Alexander Isak? Have your say in the comments section. "Yes, I've had discussions with him but that's not abnormal. I respect a player's career and how short it is. Alex has been really good, he's trained really well and I realise there'll be noise around him." Liverpool have already spent close to £300m this summer, breaking the British record themselves with the £116m signing of Florian Wirtz while making a further six signings. With the potential sales of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliott, the Reds DO still have the financial capacity to bid for Isak - even after signing French forward Ekitike.
