Real Madrid midfielder Bellingham undergoes successful shoulder surgery
Bellingham has been managing the injury since 2023, playing with his shoulder strapped, but the 22-year-old decided to go under the knife after Real Madrid's campaign at the Club World Cup, where they lost to Paris St Germain in the semi-finals.
"Bellingham will now undergo a period of rehabilitation, prior to returning to training and starting his recovery," Real Madrid said in a statement.
The club did not give a timeline on his return but Spanish media reported the England international could miss two to three months of action and potentially return in October.

Snoop Dogg joins Swansea City as co-owner in football-rap crossover
SNOOP Dogg has officially become a co-owner of Swansea City, marking a surprising fusion of hip-hop culture and football. The Championship club confirmed the partnership, adding the 53-year-old rapper to their ownership group alongside former Real Madrid star Luka Modric. The announcement follows Snoop Dogg's unexpected appearance on Swansea's social media last week, where he showcased the team's new home kit. His investment comes months after American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen acquired the club in November 2024. With over 100 million social media followers, Snoop Dogg's involvement is expected to elevate Swansea's profile as they push for Premier League promotion. The club last competed in England's top flight in 2018 before relegation. Swansea's owners aim to increase revenue under financial regulations, allowing greater investment in players. Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, expressed his enthusiasm on the club's website. 'My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,' he said. 'The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I'm proud to be part of Swansea City.' Modric, who recently joined AC Milan, became a stakeholder in April. Swansea's owners highlighted the rapper's global influence, stating, 'Snoop's colossal global fanbase will help us boost the club's reach.' The move mirrors the success of Wrexham, whose Hollywood-backed rise under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney has revitalised the Welsh club. - AFP

The 53-year-old American star joins former Real Madrid stalwart and Croatia World Cup finalist Luka Modric in the club's ownership structure. Snoop Dogg made a surprise appearance on the club's social media channels last week modelling their new home jersey for the 2025-26 season and the club announced on Thursday that he has become an investor. His involvement comes after American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen took over the club last November. Swansea will hope that Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, can use his 100 million-plus social media followers to boost the club's profile as they seek to return to the Premier League for the first time since they were relegated in 2018. Swansea's owners have said they want to generate greater revenue, which would allow them to invest more in new players under the profit and sustainability rules in British football. The 53-year-old rapper said on the club's website: "My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City. "The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. "I'm proud to be part of Swansea City." Swansea announced in April that Modric, who this week joined AC Milan at the age of 39 after leaving Real Madrid, had acquired a stake in the club. "To borrow a phrase from Snoop's back catalogue, this announcement is the next episode for Swansea City as we seek to create new opportunities to boost the club's reach and profile," Swansea's owners said in a statement. "Snoop's colossal global fanbase and audience will certainly help us do that, and he has made clear to us throughout this process just how excited he is at the prospect of joining the club. "Snoop has openly shared his love of football and his desire to be involved in the game and we expect his involvement to support us putting as competitive a team as possible out on the field." Swansea's Welsh rivals Wrexham have achieved a meteoric rise to the Championship -- the second-tier of English football -- since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney purchased the club in 2020. - AFP More Like This

Fraud probe opened into Mbappe payments to police officers
PARIS: An investigation has been opened into potentially fraudulent payments made by Kylian Mbappe to five police officers assigned to protect the French national football team, the public prosecutor's office told AFP on Thursday. The probe comes after a tip-off from the French finance ministry's anti-money laundering unit, which reported "unusual financial transactions" benefitting the five police officers. "Investigations, which are by their very nature complex in the case of financial transactions, are underway in order to establish whether any criminal offences have been committed," the public prosecutor's office said. French investigative weekly Le Canard Enchaine on Wednesday reported that the France national team captain's money was used to "pay under the table for private services", to the tune of 180,300 euros ($209,000). The Real Madrid striker's entourage issued a statement saying "everything was done in compliance with the rules." It added that Mbappe had "always chosen to donate in full his bonuses" for playing for France at international level. "It's what he did after the 2022 World Cup, with complete transparency," the statement continued, saying the money went to charitable organisations and security personnel that accompanied the team.
