Object 1 launches sustainable urban living project in Dubai

As Dubai Land Residence Complex (DLRC) continues to establish itself as one of the city's fastest-growing residential hubs, Object 1 has announced the launch of Verdania - a multi-phase, sustainability-focused residential development comprising 316 units in the heart of this high-potential district. Inspired by the word verde, meaning green, Verdania reflects Object 1's commitment to building communities that go beyond function to build connection, vitality, and holistic well-being. The project's design is rooted in sustainability, offering a living environment that nurtures the body, mind, and soul, said the developer. Verdania 1 offers 208 units, and Verdania 2 adds another 108 units, with both phases featuring a variety of resort-style amenities. Its residents will get to enjoy a swimming pool, kids' pool, gym, sauna, clubhouse, and children's play areas. Verdania 1 also provides a yoga and meditation zone, CrossFit area, cinema, outdoor showers, and open-air lounges. Meanwhile, Verdania 2 features a dedicated BBQ space for relaxed outdoor gatherings, said the developer. The launch coincides with major infrastructure upgrades in the area, including the upcoming Dubai Metro Blue Line, which will significantly improve connectivity for DLRC residents, it added. Object 1 said the project's construction will fully comply with the Dubai Green Building Regulations and Specifications, which set mandatory standards for insulation and energy efficiency through regulated R-values for walls, roofs, and glazing systems. These measures align with the UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative and reflect the growing national emphasis on reducing emissions, enhancing liveability, and building climate-resilient infrastructure, it stated. Speaking at the project launch, CEO Tatiana Tonu said: "The number of transactions in Dubai Land Residence Complex has grown nearly sixfold over three years. This growth signals rising buyer confidence and sustained market momentum." "The launch of Verdania directly addresses this demand within the rapidly evolving Dubailand master district. The project is designed to promote sustainable urban living while contributing to the goals of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan for inclusive growth and enhanced liveability," stated Tonu. Set for completion in Q3 2027, Verdania reinforces Object 1's growing presence in Dubai's residential sector and aligns with the UAE's national vision for sustainable development. By integrating eco-conscious design, green construction practices, and a wellness-first approach, the project aims to contribute to a future where urban living and community well-being go hand in hand, she added.-TradeArabia News Service Copyright 2024 Al Hilal Publishing and Marketing Group Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. Bahrain close to deporting 10,000 illegal expatriates

Bahrain is close to deporting 10,000 illegal expatriates as part of its intensive inspection visits and joint campaigns carried out across the country since last year. The latest statistics released by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) indicate an upward trajectory with an increase in the number of campaigns, detention and deportation in its ongoing crackdown on irregular workers. A total of 1,167 inspection visits and joint campaigns were conducted from June 29 to July 12, resulting in the detention of 19 violating and irregular workers, and deportation of 242 expats. The labour watchdog said, in a statement yesterday, that various shops across the four governorates were covered. Besides the 1,146 inspection visits, 21 joint campaigns were conducted – 10 in the Southern Governorate, seven in the Muharraq Governorate, three in the Northern Governorate and one in the Capital Governorate. Overall since January last year, 82,941 inspection visits and 1,172 joint campaigns have been conducted, resulting in the identification of 3,245 violations and the deportation of 9,873 irregular workers. People are being urged to report illegal labour practices and violations via the website by calling 17506055 or via the government's suggestions and complaints system, Tawasul. In recent years, Bahrain has enforced tough new regulations to prevent the misuse of tourist visas and to ensure those seeking employment arrive with proper work permits issued by their employers. These measures also aim to provide job opportunities for Bahrainis and reduce unemployment by supporting citizens as the first choice for employers. LMRA chief executive Nibras Talib earlier told MPs that the introduction of the new rules has had a huge impact, with the incidence of tourist or visit visas being converted into work permits dropping by more than 87 per cent. Under the new rules, a visit visa can no longer be converted into a work or dependent visa without a sponsor. However, visit visas with a sponsor can be transferred to a work or dependent visa for a revised fee of BD250, instead of the previous BD60, only if it is for the same sponsor. Bahrain's total population reached 1,588,670, according to last year's statistics. Bahrainis are 739,736 (46.6pc) while non-Bahrainis are 848,934 (53.4pc). Qatar Airways Completes Starlink Rollout on Boeing 777 Fleet

Qatar Airways has completed the installation of SpaceX's Starlink internet service on its fleet of 54 Boeing 777 aircraft, concluding the rollout programme ahead of schedule. The airline now operates the largest number of widebody aircraft equipped with Starlink connectivity, making it the only carrier in the Middle East and North Africa to offer the service. Initially set as a two-year initiative, the installation was finalised in nine months, nearly 50% faster than planned. The process was streamlined by reducing retrofit time from three days to 9.5 hours per aircraft, allowing the programme to be completed without operational disruption. 'This new milestone demonstrates our strategic investment in redefining our passengers' expectations,' said Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Badr Mohammed Al-Meer. 'We promised the fastest, most seamless in-flight connectivity in the industry, and with Starlink we have delivered it faster and at an unmatched scale. Having completed our rollout programme for Boeing 777s, we are now fully focused on equipping our Airbus A350 fleet with Starlink, bringing this game-changing experience to even more routes across our global network of over 170 destinations.' Passengers travelling in both Premium and Economy cabins now have access to free, gate-to-gate internet with speeds of up to 500 Mbps per aircraft. The connectivity is designed to support streaming, gaming, and work, with performance comparable to home broadband. Following the completion of the Boeing 777 rollout, Qatar Airways is progressing with the Starlink installation on its Airbus A350 fleet, targeting completion within the next year. Since introducing its first Starlink-equipped Boeing 777 in October 2024, the airline has operated more than 15,000 flights with Starlink connectivity.
