McDonald's fans call new Big Arch burger 'very nice but messy'

Thomas O'Neill, Head of Menu at McDonald's UK&I, said: 'A new iconic burger needs an equally iconic sauce, and we've taken it up a notch with the Big Arch.
"This isn't just about size, it's about flavour. With double layers of beef, crispy onions, and the hero of the build, our signature sauce, every bite is crafted to hit the spot to satisfy serious McDonald's hunger. Big, bold, and packed with serious deliciousness.'
Customers have had a few days to try the burger now, and it has had a generally positive response, albeit with some criticisms.

Many people have taken to Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their thoughts on the new McDonald's burger.
Quite a few enjoyed the taste but found the burger quite messy to deal with.
On X, one person said: "Big Arch from @McDonaldsUK is possibly one of the best burgers they have done imo! however, it should come with the option of an adult sized bib to go with it, messy is an understatement, but worth it!"
Meanwhile, on the Snack Reviews Facebook group, another commented: "Very nice but very messy".
A third said: "It's very messy, the sauce is nice too," while another described it as "sloppy".
Quite a few people on the Facebook group compared it to the Big Mac, as one said: "So is this size the big mac used to be when shrinkflation wasn't a thing?"
Another posted: "Just looks like a big mac without the bun in the middle".

Teen girl suffers horror head injury after 'freak accident' on fairground ride

Police confirmed they are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) following the incident on Saturday night. A teenage girl has been left with potentially life-changing head injuries after her hair became trapped on a ride at a popular fair. ‌ The 18-year-old was rushed to hospital following the incident at the Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show around 10.50pm on Saturday, reports the Mirror. ‌ Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed they are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as part of the investigation. ‌ A woman who was at the scene said she helped give first aid to the stricken teen as panic broke out. She said: 'One of the girl's friends came down and said how serious it was and some of us offered assistance. It's very shocking it could happen on a fairground ride that young children go on. This must never happen again." Fair owner Charles Cole said he 'sympathises' with the girl and her family and revealed her hair became trapped on the Fun House walk-on attraction. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Speaking earlier today, he added: 'Approximately 50 people had been on the ride before the 18-year-old, and there were no issues. 'The ride is 20 years old but it had been tested that day. This was a freak accident. Somehow, the girl's hair got caught and she could not grab on to the handrails. ‌ 'Nobody wants to hurt anyone, and we are a family business. Last night was very upsetting, especially for the man who owns the ride. Safety is our priority, and we sympathise with the girl and her parents." A post on the show's Facebook page on Sunday insisted: 'Good morning from day three of the show. Despite what you may have read or seen online, we are open and look forward to seeing you all!" The ride has been shut down while police and safety inspectors investigate.
