Rannvijay Singha: I'm mostly offered cool-stud roles, which don't satisfy me

Rannvijay Singha Rannvijay Singha is back in the spotlight, this time as the host of Chhoriyan Chali Gaon, a reality show featuring 13 female celebrities placed in a rural setting in Bhopal. He says, 'This is different from any other reality show. These women are put in a real village, a world alien to them. They aren't fighting each other — they're fighting the situation, adjusting to an unfamiliar environment, and confronting inner challenges.' Though he made a mark hosting shows like Roadies, Rannvijay has also dabbled in acting, appearing in films and web series. However, he remains selective about acting roles. He says, 'Most of the time, I was offered the typical cool-stud guy roles, which didn't give me any real satisfaction. I recently wrapped up an intense project and even dubbed for something exciting.' On whether he found it frustrating to be typecast in the 'cool dude' mould, he laughs, 'That's just my personality! I ride bikes, play sports, and love adventure. I can't blame someone for casting me based on who I really am. It's not baggage — it's just me. If a script is good, I'm happy to play that guy again. I recently played an army officer in a series, and I'd love to do more such roles. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo If acting were my only source of livelihood, I'd understand the pressure to accept anything. But I have other avenues of income for sustenance, so I can afford to be selective.' He's clear about where acting fits into his life. He says, 'Acting isn't my bread and butter. In this profession, the success of a single project can determine your future. But I have kids to raise and responsibilities to fulfill — I can't afford to hinge everything on whether a film hits or flops. Life has to move on. I'll continue riding bikes, taking on new adventures, or heading into jungles and villages for different experiences. I choose projects that add value to my life and the people around me. And if I have less work, that just means more time with my kids — which is equally important.' Rannvijay admits he still has personal ambitions. 'I'd love to play a truly challenging role someday. But if that doesn't happen — if I never get that Rs 100 or Rs 500 crore film — it's okay. For me, success isn't defined by box-office numbers. I've been doing this for 22–23 years, and if I can keep carving out my own space, doing what I love, then I don't need to chase anything else.' His grounded outlook stems from his upbringing. He says, 'My parents never cared about how big I became. As long as I'm a respectful son, they're happy. Even if I don't do well professionally, they just want to hear things like, 'He looked after us, came to meet us — what a person you've raised!' That's what they value. If they had expected me to become the biggest name in the world, maybe things would've been different. But there's no pressure. The only pressure I feel is to raise my children to be good human beings.'

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Ajith Kumar fans may soon have reason to celebrate. According to a recent report by industry tracker Ramesh Bala, the official announcement for Ajith's next film, tentatively titled 'AK64', is expected to arrive in August 2025. After his last outing in 'Good Bad Ugly' earlier this year, anticipation around Ajith's next move has been steadily building. 'AK64' likely to begin post-racing season If reports are accurate, 'AK64' will be bankrolled by Romeo Pictures, the same production house that backed Ajith's earlier films like Viswasam and Vivegam. Though nothing is officially confirmed yet, the buzz suggests that director Adhik Ravichandran , who previously worked with Ajith on 'Good Bad Ugly', might be reuniting with the actor once again. Ajith's romantic pictures with his wife Shalini go viral Ajith had earlier made it clear that he would take up film projects only during the off-season of his racing career. Mohanlal-Ajith combo on the cards? Meanwhile, there are reports that the Malayalam superstar Mohanlal might join AK64 in a pivotal role. Reportedly, discussions are ongoing to bring the two iconic actors together for the first time. A collaboration between Mohanlal and Ajith Kumar would be nothing short of a treat for fans across South India. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo On the other hand, Mohanlal was recently seen in the Pan-Indian film 'Kannappa' which also stars Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Vishnu Manchu and many others in pivotal roles. The film is getting only mixed reviews from the audiences all over. While Ajith Kumar made his massive comeback with the recently released 'Good Bad Ugly', which received 3 3-star rating from ETimes with our official review that reads, "And in Adhik, he seems to have found the right director to pull it off. Adhik's films so far have been largely polarising - you either like his style of filmmaking or hate it, with no in-between. But his is definitely a unique voice, especially in the realm of our mass masala films - overloud (but in a very different way compared to someone like Hari) and visually distinct (but poles apart from a Karthik Subbaraj). It is cinema of maximalism, often breaking the third wall, peppered with throwbacks, and with only one goal - to deliver a high every few minutes. More than mass masala, it's max masala!"

Aamir Khan may not have gone the action route to secure a hit, but his coming-0f-age sports comedy Sitaare Zameen Par has now beaten one of the most-awaited Bollywood action films of this year. On its 12th day at the domestic box office, Aamir's lighthearted movie beat Salman Khan's Sikandar. On Tuesday, Sitaare Zameen Par earned Rs 4 crore, a slight improvement on its Monday earnings of Rs 3.75 crore, which is the lowest single-day earnings of the film so far. Over its second weekend, it earned Rs 12.6 crore and Rs 14.5 crore respectively. Prior to that, it hovered around the Rs 6-9 crore mark throughout its opening week post the opening weekend. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the current box office collection of Sitaare Zameen Par in India stands at Rs 130.4 crore. In the process, it's beaten the lifetime domestic earnings of Sikandar (Rs 129.95 crore). It's now inching closer to surpassing Akshay Kumar's Sky Force, which earned Rs 134.93 crore earlier this year. Sitaare Zameen Par is still scoring more than the other Hindi release it's competing with currently. Vishal Furia's mythological horror film Maa, starring Kajol, earned Rs 2.85 crore on Tuesday, taking its domestic total up to Rs 23 crore in five days at the box office. Produced by Ajay Devgn, the film comes from the world of his hit supernatural horror film Shaitaan last year. Backed by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, it's the spiritual successor to Basu's 2007 film Life.. in a Metro. Beginning this Friday, Sitaare Zameen Par will also compete with the Hindi dubbed version of Gareth Edwards' sci-fi adventure thriller epic Jurassic World Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali. Despite competition from new and current Hindi releases, the Aamir Khan film is likely to see another jump over its third weekend at the domestic box office. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is produced by Aamir alongside Aparna Purohit and Ravi Bhagchandka. Billed as a spiritual sequel to the critically acclaimed movie Taare Zameen Par, it was released in theatres on June 20.
