Pinkvilla Predicts: Opening day Hindi net box office collections for War 2, Coolie, Param Sundari, Dhurandhar, and The Raja Saab
The Indian cinema has some very exciting releases over the next few months. Fans are eagerly waiting for action-packed thrillers, romantic comedies, and horror-comedy dramas. Pinkvilla predicts the opening day India Hindi nett collections for War 2, Coolie, Param Sundari, Dhurandhar, and The Raja Saab. Here's what we expect these films to earn on their first day. Upcoming Movies And Their Expected Day 1 India Net Hindi Collections 1. War 2: August 14, 2025 Predicted Opening: Rs 50.00 crore to Rs 52.00 crore War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, this action thriller is part of YRF's Spy Universe. The trailer has created huge buzz with its high-octane action and star power. Despite clashing with Coolie, the film's release on August 14, 2025, during the Independence Day weekend, should boost its numbers. We predict a massive opening of Rs 50.00 crore to Rs 52.00 crore for the Hindi version, driven by its pan-India appeal and premium formats like IMAX and Dolby Cinema. 2. Coolie (Hindi): August 14, 2025 Predicted Opening: Rs 3.25 crore to Rs 3.75 crore Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is a Tamil action thriller starring Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, and Shruti Haasan, with a cameo by Aamir Khan. The Hindi-dubbed version releases on August 14, 2025, clashing with War 2. The film's gritty action and emotional storytelling are generating buzz, especially in urban multiplexes. However, the clash may limit its Hindi market share. We expect Coolie to open between Rs 3.25 crore and Rs 3.75 crore in Hindi net collections, with potential to grow if word of mouth is strong. 3. Param Sundari: August 29, 2025 Predicted Opening: Rs 11.00 crore to Rs 12.00 crore Param Sundari, directed by Tushar Jalota, stars Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor. This romantic comedy, set in Kerala, releases on August 29, 2025. Its cross-cultural love story and the catchy song Pardesiya have created good pre-release buzz. The film targets youth and family audiences, which could help it perform well in multiplexes. We predict an opening day collection of Rs 11.00 crore to Rs 12.00 crore, with positive reviews likely to push its weekend numbers higher. 4. Dhurandhar: December 5, 2025 Predicted Opening: Rs 21.50 crore to Rs 22.50 crore Dhurandhar, a Ranveer Singh starrer, is an action-comedy directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. Set to release in 2025, the film has generated mixed-to-positive buzz due to its quirky premise and Ranveer's energetic performance. The movie's mass appeal and action-packed trailer could attract audiences in both multiplexes and single screens. We predict an opening day collection of Rs 21.50 crore to Rs 22.50 crore for the Hindi version. 5. The Raja Saab: December 5, 2025 Predicted Opening: Rs 10.00 crore to Rs 12.00 crore The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi, stars Prabhas, Malavika Mohanan, and Sanjay Dutt. This horror-comedy with romantic elements releases on December 5, 2025, in multiple languages, including Hindi. Prabhas' star power and the film's unique blend of horror, comedy, and romance have created strong buzz. Horror-comedies like Stree 2 have done well in Hindi markets, and we expect The Raja Saab to open between Rs 10.00 crore and Rs 12.00 crore in Hindi net collections.

EXCLUSIVE: War 2 run time locked, certified U/A; Hrithik Roshan and NTR starrer emerges longest film of YRF Spy Universe
The countdown for the release of the Ayan Mukerji-directed War 2 has begun. Marking a one-of-a-kind face-off between Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr, War 2 is touted to be the darkest chapter of the ambitious YRF Spy Universe. The film is set to hit the big screen all across the globe on August 14, 2025 and the makers plan to open advances over the coming weekend. And now, we have exclusively learned that a censor screening of War 2 took place a day back, and the film has been certified U/A by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). A source shares, 'War 2 has been certified by CBFC without many revision suggestions by the board members. The final runtime of War 2 is 2 hours 53 minutes (173 minutes), excluding the end credit sequence, which will be certified later in the week.' The source further informed that the CBFC members are raving about the film, which promises to be a big-screen blast for the cinema-going audiences. 'Much like Pathaan and Tiger 3, War 2 will also have a big post-credit sequence, and the same will be added to the prints of the Hrithik Roshan and NTR starrer. The post-credit sequence has been kept hidden from everyone, and none except the key stakeholders know what it is,' the source adds. War 2 is the longest film of the YRF Spy Universe, which started back in 2012 with Ek Tha Tiger. The 2-hour and 53-minute runtime of War 2 is longer than Ek Tha Tiger (2 hours and 12 minutes), Tiger Zinda Hai (2 hours and 41 minutes), War (2 hours and 34 minutes), Pathaan (2 hours and 26 minutes), and Tiger 3 (2 hours and 36 minutes). Talking of War 2, the film features Hrithik Roshan, NTR, and Kiara Advani in the lead and is the sixth chapter of the YRF Spy Universe. The film rides on six big action sequences, choreographed by teams of international repute, and the introduction sequence of Hrithik as well as the pirate fight sequence of NTR is said to be among the major highlights for the audience. The censor members feel that War 2 is timed perfectly with the Independence Day weekend, and the film's 'India First' message will strongly resonate with audiences. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.

‘He is 65, literally grandparents ka generation': Netizens react to Suniel Shetty's comment on marriages; expert on balancing gender roles in parenting
When actor Suniel Shetty recently shared his thoughts on marriage and parenting in an interview, his comments ignited a wave of backlash online. Speaking to Pinkvilla, he said, 'Shaadi kya chiz hai mujhe samajh mein hi nahi aata. Bachhon mein patience hai hi nahi. Shaadi kuch time ke baad ek samjhauta hota hai (I don't understand what marriage is anymore. Kids these days have no patience. Marriage is a compromise after some time), where you have to understand each other, and live for each other. Uske baad ek bacha aata hai, aur patni ko yeh jaan na zaruri hai ki husband career banayega toh bachhe ko main dekh rahi hoon (Then comes a child, and the wife needs to know that if the husband makes a career, I will take care of the kids). Husband, of course, saath mein dekhega hi. Aaj kal sab cheez mein pressure bohot ho gaya hai, kyuki gyaan dene wale bohot log hain. (The husband will, of course, look after them together, but there is a lot of pressure in everything these days, because there are a lot of people to give you unsolicited advice).' He added, 'I think experience se hum seekhe toh better hota hai (if we learn, it is better) – from the mother, from the naani, from the daadi, the sister, the in-laws. I think woh cheez bohot maine rakhta hai (That is very important, I think).' His remarks, suggesting that the wife should take primary responsibility for raising a child so that her husband can focus on his career, drew strong criticism on social media platforms. Many netizens didn't hold back. While some called his mindset outdated and 'typical of Indian uncles,' others described it as outright misogynistic. One Reddit user commented, 'Honestly, guys why are you surprised. He is not exactly speaking for our generation. He is 65, literally grandparents ka generation.' Another wrote, 'So he's a typical misogynist,' while one user remarked, 'I'm a hard-core feminist. Yeah, he's imagining a world where husband is the one working, and life can continue on a single income. But there's nothing intentionally sexist about it.' Neha Parashar, clinical psychologist, Mindtalk, tells 'This assumption stems from deeply entrenched gender roles that view caregiving as a woman's natural duty and career-building as a man's. When society reinforces this narrative, it strips both partners of the opportunity to choose roles based on personal strengths, preferences, or practical realities.' Psychologically, she mentions that it positions motherhood as an obligation rather than a choice, which can lead to 'internalised guilt or resentment in women who wish to pursue professional goals.' It also places undue pressure on men to be sole providers, potentially cutting them off from emotionally rewarding aspects of parenthood. 'The first step is to remove the idea that caregiving has a default gender. Parenting needs to be viewed as a skill set, not a role based on gender. Couples should actively discuss their expectations, values, and support systems even before the child arrives,' notes Parashar. In dual-income households, transparency and planning are key. This means dividing responsibilities not just based on availability but also taking into account each partner's emotional bandwidth, career stages, and long-term goals. Most importantly, couples must give each other permission to be vulnerable, tired, or imperfect. Co-parenting is about mutual respect and emotional presence from both sides, concludes the expert.
