Coolie USA Premiere Advance Bookings: Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj's film sets fire at the box office; Rakes up near USD 150k with 22 days to go

Superstar Rajinikanth is back, this time with blockbuster director Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film's advance bookings in USA opened less than a day back and the bookings stand at close to USD 150k for the premieres, 22 days out. These are ginormous numbers for a film that's over 3 weeks away. Coolie Has Already Grossed Around USD 150k At The Time Of This Article What's more crazy is that except for 3 songs, a title teaser and a few solo posters, nothing about Coolie is out. The biggest unit of the film, that is the trailer, shall be out on the 2nd of August as confirmed by the director. The total ticket sales stand at around 5,000, with a per screen average of 20 tickets. The tickets are being sold at a blistering pace and that shall not stop. The response for the Tamil language is the best, followed by Telugu, which is equally great given that it's one of the film's dubbed versions. A USD 2 million premiere gross is not being discounted at this point. Hype Of Coolie Is As High As Kabali This kind of hype for a Rajinikanth film was last seen during Kabali. Yes, Rajinikanth has had bigger lifetime grossers like 2.0 and Jailer after that, but the hype of Coolie is similar to Kabali. Now, what's really required is for the content to land well with the diaspora audience. War 2 And Coolie Lock Themselves In An Intense Battle Coolie has a direct clash with War 2. The things are getting tight as the release draws nearer. This is by far the biggest box office clash in recent memory. The stakes involved are massive and a Rs 1,500 crore global gross is in play, in between both these films, if the content strikes a chord. War 2's advance bookings in USA are expected to open shortly and the pre-release tension will be worth observing. It has been a battlefield on social media, right from when Sun Pictures announced their film to release on 14th August, confirming a direct clash with War 2. It got even more tense when War 2 got IMAX exclusivity. Coolie In Theatres On 14th August, 2025 Coolie hits theatres on 14th August. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more box office updates.

Hindi film industry lights up the box office from Summer 2025; 8 films collect over Rs 1100 crore

The good days are finally back in the race, as mid-sized Hindi films have begun to draw audiences on the big screen. The change of tide was always in the offing, but it took a constant flow of releases to result in a shift of momentum. The last 3 months have been the best for the film fraternity in the Post-Covid era with as many as 7 successes, including a mammoth blockbuster like Saiyaara. The 3-month aggregate collection starting from Jaat, leading to Kesari 2, Raid 2, Housefull 5, Sitaare Zameen Par, Maa, Metro In Dino, and Saiyaara are looking to collect in the range of Rs 1150 crore, and leading the show from the front will be Saiyaara, as it is headed to collect in the range of Rs 375 crore to Rs 425 crore in India. Films like Housefull 5, Sitaare Zameen Par, and Raid 2 collected in the vicinity of Rs 165 crore each, whereas Jaat and Kesari 2 scored in the range of Rs 90 crore. Metro In Dino on the other hand is looking to end its run at Rs 52 crore, whereas Maa clocked Rs 35 crore in India. It's more like a success every week starting April 10, as even Bhool Chuk Maaf did some numbers, contributing revenue to the cinema owners. Apart from the aforementioned films, four Hollywood movies also struck gold at the Indian box office in the same period with Final Destination: Bloodlines, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, F1, and Jurassic World. The four films, along with Superman aggregated about Rs 350 crore nett in India, making it a golden period for the Indian Exhibitors. The audiences are finally recultivating the habit of visiting cinema halls on a week-on-week basis, and the film fraternity too has been consistent with fairly reasonable content for the audience. While the mid-range successes have come in plenty, the Mohit Suri-directed Saiyaara has filled the void of a blockbuster, which was missing in the report-card of the year post Chaavva in February. While big star films doing big numbers is always expected, nothing energises the industry better than a mid-sized film emerging a blockbuster of epic proportions. Ahaan Panday would apologise after extra takes, he is not ‘nakchada or corrupted', says Saiyaara co-star Rajesh Kumar: ‘Aneet Padda, Ahaan will be relevant for next 25-30 years'

Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda are the newest stars in Bollywood. With their first film Saiyaara, they are both making and breaking records at the box office. Even challenging the business of several films led by the OGs Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. In just five days of its release, the Mohit Suri film managed to earn over Rs 132 crore in India with a surprising Rs 24 crore and Rs 25 crore on first Monday and Tuesday. This was also one of the rarest times when a star kid led the film and didn't receive hate or criticism as such (barring a few trolls). Their success has also created curiosity around their personalities, pay, and struggle. Now, Aneet's on-screen father in Saiyaara, Rajesh Kumar, has opened up about his experience of working with these newcomers. In a conversation with Galatta, the actor said, 'I told both Aneet and Ahaan that make me meet your parents. I just went and thanked them for bringing them up so well and that is what is reflecting on screen. They are not corrupted. Having said that, there is a long way for them to go.' Recalling the first day of shoot, Rajesh shared, 'Ahaan was so nervous before his first shot. We shot that together. The ones who have watched the film will remember the scene where he quietly hands me a bag. That was his first shot for the film. But, he did it so well in just the third take. After the shot ended, people clapped for him and then he felt relaxed.' Speaking about Aneet, Rajesh shared, 'When I was first introduced to Aneet, Mohit told me she will solve my Punjabi problem in case I want to stick to that language for that movie as we are Batras in it. And then till the time we were shooting together, she would speak to me in hardcore Punjabi. She asked me to call her 'puttu' in place of beta in the movie. He shared he meets the newcomers as a student as they come with extreme preparation. 'The new generation of actors are extremely groomed. They are pake hue, manjhe hue kalakaar. Barring a few, who might have not prepared as much. But the number of newcomers I have worked with are ready for the market, and Bollywood. I can tell you that these are the faces who are going to be relevant for the coming 25-30 years. Their ability to adapt things is exceptional. And these are the actors who have worked hard for success.' ALSO READ | Ravi Kishan's mother was sure his father would kill him, asked him to run away from home: 'He would beat me everyday… I didn't cry when he died' He then shared how both the actors are extremely grounded despite the success. 'If you look into Aneet's interviews, you will see that she is yet to believe that her film is working wonders. When people realise things late, success doesn't take over them. These people are so grounded that I don't think Aneet or Ahaan will ever be a 'nakchade' (snooty) stars. They will be sought after actors.' He claimed, 'Ahaan has exceptional screen presence and heroism.' Sharing the secret behind Saiyaara becoming a success, Rajesh shared, 'Mohit would wait until he got the shot he had visualised. Everytime, we took a shot for over four times, Ahaan would walk forward and apologise. He didn't have a 'give up' attitude. This film was all about trust. This film was all about YRF believing in Mohit Suri. And Mohit Suri believing in this new couple and the supporting cast. We never thought it would be a blockbuster. ' Sharing his favourite scene from the film, the Sarabhai vs Sarabhai actor shared, ' My most favourite scene is when Ahaan walks in to the concert. I was fida on it. The shot was crazy.'
