Andy Byron's 'daughter' has gone viral on TikTok after Coldplay Kiss Cam video

Cosmopolitan3 days ago
We've all seen it: the seconds-long clip of former Astronomer CEO, Andy Byron, getting close with the company's HR specialist, Kristin Cabot, at a Coldplay concert – and the pair looking utterly horrified when they realise they've been spotlit by the stadium's Kiss Cam (and the band's lead singer, Chris Martin, who quips, "Either they're having an affair or they're just really shy."
Sadly, the former transpired to be true, and Astronomer has since told Cosmopolitan UK that Byron has stepped down from his position in the company.
Elsewhere online, fake viral apologies allegedly from Andy Byron have been doing the rounds, along with a manufactured statement from his wife, Megan.
Now, adding to the furore and wow-the-internet-sucks energy of the whole thing, a TikToker known as @ThatMarinagirll, has been posing online as Byron's daughter, creating a string of videos about how seeing her 'father's' infidelity play out on a such a big screen has caused her to head off on a soul-searching trip.
In one trip, a young woman is seen by an outdoor fire along with the caption "reconnecting with life after your dad's affair makes national news".
A further upload posted screenshots, seemingly of Marina and her friends discussing the Coldplay scandal, with one writing, "I thought it was your dad's doppelganger" as Marina replies "I saw it early this morning … Lord help us".
However, throwing a major spanner in the credibility works, the account later shared a fourth video which was seemingly an advertisement for a company called Triips.com, along with the words: "Thanks for the $35 flight, I'm basically healed"
The account, which has over 195,000 followers, has since reverted to private. It's believed (albeit unconfirmed) that Byron and his wife, Megan, do not actually have a daughter but instead are the parents of two sons.
So... it pretty much looks like this TikTok user and/or the travel company decided to tap into the online drama and weaponise a very real and sad situation for the actual families involved. As far as we know, neither of the Byrons or Cabot have made a public statement on the incident.
Anyone else thinking Marina's account will now likely repurpose itself and continue to profit from the followers it amassed under false pretences?

Company at heart of Coldplay viral video releases tongue-in-cheek clip - with a big twist

The company at the centre of a viral video at a Coldplay concert has released a tongue-in-cheek clip on social media - featuring Gwyneth Paltrow as a "temporary spokesperson". Astronomer was thrust into the spotlight after two of the tech firm's senior executives were filmed embracing on a kiss cam during a gig in Boston. Andy Byron subsequently resigned as chief executive officer - while the woman in the video, Kristin Cabot, stepped down as chief people officer a few days later. Paltrow, who used to be married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, is seen sitting at a desk in the new video uploaded to X - and begins by thanking the public for their interest in Astronomer. She adds: "I've been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer. "Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days - and they wanted me to answer the most common ones." A question is then typed out on the screen that reads: "OMG, what the actual…" Before the final word appears, the video cuts back to Paltrow, who goes on to promote some of the services Astronomer offers. In a subtle nod to the countless column inches the company has attracted, Paltrow adds: "We've been thrilled so many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation." Another question then pops up on screen, which begins to type out: "How is your social media team holding up?" But before the sentence fully appears, Paltrow abruptly interrupts by declaring that Astronomer has spaces at an upcoming conference in September. "We'll now be returning to what we do best: delivering game-changing results for our customers," she adds at the end of the video. The marketing stunt is a sign that Astronomer is trying to put a positive spin on the scandal, which sparked feverish speculation online. After Mr Byron resigned, the company had said in a statement: "Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. "Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met." Pete DeJoy, who has taken over as interim CEO, admitted on Monday that the company has faced an "unusual and surreal" amount of attention in recent days. On LinkedIn, he wrote: "While I would never have wished for it to happen like this, Astronomer is now a household name."

Astronomer hires Gwyneth Paltrow with a wink after 'kiss cam' viral video

Astronomer has hired Gwyneth Paltrow as a "temporary spokesperson" following the social media firestorm that involved two now-former company executives and a Coldplay concert 'kiss cam" last week. Paltrow appeared in a television-style spot on Astronomer's social media on Friday making a pitch for the company's everyday strengths. "Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common ones," said Paltrow, who split with Coldplay singer Chris Martin in 2014. Astronomer made headlines after internet sleuths identified its CEO and chief people officer as the man and woman seen embracing and then hiding their faces on a "kiss cam" at the July 16 concert. Both have since resigned. In the Astronomer video, Paltrow cut off a question that started with "OMG!" to emphatically say, "Yes, Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow." "We've been thrilled so many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation," she added. She interrupted another question — "How is your social media team holding ..." — to make a pitch for an Astronomer conference in September. Paltrow concluded, 'We will now be returning to what we do best — delivering game-changing results for our customers.' CEO Andy Byron resigned on July 19, and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot followed on Thursday, according to statements from the company. Their body language after the camera captured them in an embrace led Martin to remark on stage, 'Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.' Astronomer said afterward it was investigating the incident. 'Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability,' it said on July 18. The company confirmed Thursday that Cabot was the woman in the video. Neither she nor Byron have responded to requests for comment. Astronomer, a New York-based company, helps companies develop, grow, and analyze products using artificial intelligence.

Astronomer enlists Gwyneth Paltrow as 'temporary spokesperson' after Coldplay kiss cam scandal in hilarious video

Paltrow, of course, was married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for more than 12 years. Gwyneth Paltrow has just possibly made the cameo of the year. The Oscar winner pops up as a "temporary spokesperson" in a surprise video shared Friday to the social media accounts of Astronomer, the tech company at the center of all of the viral Coldplay kiss cam drama. In the video, which features the caption, "Thank you for your interest in Astronomer," Paltrow is shown sitting at a table, hands clasped, donning a light blue button-down shirt. "Hi, I'm Gwyneth Paltrow," she begins. "I've been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer. Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common ones." At this, a question is typed on screen: "OMG What the actual f." "Yes," Paltrow deadpans, adding, "Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow, unifying the experience of running data ML and AI pipelines at scale." "We've been thrilled so many people have a newfound interest in data workflow automation," she adds. The tongue-in-cheek video comes after a jumbotron appearance went very awry at Coldplay's show July 16 and promptly captured the zeitgeist online. In the viral moment, a man and woman later identified as Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR executive Kristin Cabot could be seen canoodling as they watched the concert. When the co-workers realized they were on the jumbotron, they quickly separated, with Byron ducking out of the picture and Cabot covering her face and then turning her back. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin buttoned the moment by telling the crowd, "All right, come on, you're okay. Uh-oh, what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy." The scene and its rapid fallout naturally blew up online, and as the Paltrow video alludes to, Astronomer has received much press attention in its wake. Both Byron and Cabot have also since resigned from the company. Continuing the bit in the video, the question "How is your social media holding—" pops up, as Paltrow cuts in again with, "Yes! There is still room available at our Beyond Analytics event in September." She concludes, "We will now be returning to what we do best: Delivering game-changing results for our customers. Thank you for your interest in Astronomer." The video has an extra-meta twist that makes it even more amusing: Paltrow was of course married to Coldplay's Martin from 2003 to 2016, and the two share two children together, Apple and Moses. Entertainment Weekly has reached out to reps for Paltrow and Astronomer for additional comment. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly
