3.52 Chester – Queensferry Stakes (Listed, 6f; Sky Sports Racing)
If rain doesn't get into the ground, CELANDINE must go well in this. She won last year's Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York and made a promising return in July when third in a Group 3 contest at the same venue, selected on these pages.
Ed Walker's filly travelled really well that day, so much so that she looked to have the speed for 5f and was again selected on these pages for Friday's Group 2 King George Stakes at Goodwood, only to be withdrawn from that race because of the slow ground.
Celandine stays at 6f for this race, but Chester is a sharp, turning track, which should suit her, and she's drawn low in stall two. She is entered in three Group 1 races and it will be disappointing if she can't take advantage of this drop in class, just as long as the ground stays on the decent side.

The Ed Dunlop-trained ARUNDEL has been progressive since stepping up to this trip and going handicapping, with two seconds either side of a win.
His most recent runner-up finish came off a two-month break at Newmarket so it's reasonable to think he can come again for that. Cheekpieces are added and Billy Loughnane is a good booking.
Where is William Buick riding on Sunday?
Buick is in Germany for their 'Oaks', a Group 1 race for three-year-old fillies in which he rides the Charlie Appleby-trained Spirited Style, who won a Listed race at Newmarket last time out.
And what about Ryan Moore?
Moore is also in Germany for the same race. He partners the Aidan O'Brien-trained Garden Of Eden, who most recently won the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot. There's little between Garden Of Eden and Spirited Style on the figures and there's a good chance they will be superior to the local runners.
Okay, so what time does the German Oaks go off and can I bet on it?
The race takes place on Sunday at Dusseldorf (2.40 BST) and yes, bookmakers will be taking bets on it. It's not slated for TV coverage, but one of the racing channels may show it and likewise some bookmakers may stream it live. It will also be live on YouTube.
Is there anything else of note on Sunday?
Yes, another Group 1 race, the Prix Rothschild, over a mile for fillies and mares aged three-year-olds and upwards, takes place at Deauville in France. It's set for 3.40 BST and will be on Sky Sports Racing. This is a fascinating race, although Moore has opted to ride in Germany rather than partner January (a regular selection on these pages) or Exactly for O'Brien. There's also Matilda, a filly who ran away with the German 2,000 Guineas, defeating male rivals, and has since been switched to France.

Bruno Fernandes is now a square peg in a round hole… Man Utd should do all they can to sell £100m captain
MANCHESTER UNITED are set to be offered a second chance to make what would be the right decision — selling Bruno Fernandes. But the fear of creating instability just as Ruben Amorim has got things back on track — and the impact on fans — suggests they will bottle the big call. 6 6 Fernandes is more than just the Red Devils' captain — he is also their best player AND the glue that binds the dressing room together. No wonder so many supporters and team-mates celebrated when the Portuguese midfielder turned his back on the £60million-a-year, five-year deal from Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal in June and committed himself to Old Trafford. Fernandes remains the heartbeat of the squad, a role he carries out with diligence and duty. But with boss Amorim having spent £127.5m to buy two starters who will fill Bruno's best position, it has forced him into a deeper role that fits him like boots three sizes too small. If the 30-year-old did go to current suitors Al-Nassr, it would offer a chance to make Amorim's rebuild even more permanent. In truth, it might have been better for everyone if Fernandes had packed his bags earlier this summer following Al-Hilal's £100m bid. But while the likes of Manchester City or Liverpool would not hesitate to do a deal that makes sense on a commercial and sporting level, United seem far less able to be bold. 6 Fernandes was outstanding in the first game of their Premier League Summer Series, the 2-1 win over West Ham in New Jersey last Sunday. He converted their fifth-minute penalty opener, curled in the second and linked up with £62.5m new recruit Matheus Cunha. It was Fernandes at his best, playing as one of the two attackers behind the No 9, getting on the ball in the areas where he could cause problems and revelling in the responsibility. Behind the scenes, too, as Amorim's new approach appears to be bearing fruit, the skipper has been integral. Fernandes and Harry Maguire are viewed as leaders and key influencers, with the Portugal international a social butterfly who can bond and interact with all the players and other club staff. But even though United were far too good for Bournemouth in Wednesday's 4-1 victory in Chicago, Fernandes' return to a deeper role signalled issues that may become hard to control. In signing Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo and targeting RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, Amorim has made clear that he envisages a new £200m attacking trident. That means Fernandes will have to play as one of the two deeper midfielders in Amorim's preferred 3-4-2-1 wing-back system. A position where his attacking instincts, the things that make him stand out, will have to be tempered, to avoid leaving the other central midfielder, either Manuel Ugarte or the experienced-but-leg-weary Casemiro, horribly exposed. 6 Amorim recognises he may be taking out some of his captain's effectiveness. But he said: 'I really like when Bruno has the ball. 'Last year I felt that sometimes I pushed him back to have more possession in the build-up and then we missed Bruno near the box. 'But we miss Bruno sometimes when he's playing as a No 10 but there are times when he's playing there and can't get the ball. 'He runs a lot and has a lot of endurance. He's smart and ready for the physicality, playing deep or as a midfielder.' Fernandes is a goalscorer and a goal threat. He will not be as effective from deeper. 6 Alternatively, his desire to get forward and impact the game could result in a lack of positional discipline, a flaw which opposing managers will swiftly jump on. Amorim tried to paint a different picture, arguing that with his side now having more thrust and dynamism going forward: 'If you have a player with the quality of Bruno, without pressure on the ball, it gives us more options.' Yet if United had banked Al-Hilal's £100m — and Al-Nassr may bideven more — they might have landed a more natural and defence-minded option to fill the void. Round pegs, round holes. Amorim's system relies on wing-backs providing width but the danger is them being caught out of defensive position, with the onus on the central midfielders to cover any shortcomings. That is not Fernandes' prime asset. Had he chosen Saudi in June, it would have left broken hearts. Doing it now might cause despair. Yet, perhaps, getting cash to spend would be better for the club — presuming they use it wisely. 6

Man Utd fans fear Rasmus Hojlund will gift Benjamin Sesko to Newcastle as £72m flop makes transfer decision
MANCHESTER UNITED fans fear they could miss out on signing Benjamin Sesko because of Rasmus Hojlund. The striker has emerged as a key target for Ruben Amorim. 3 3 Play Dream Team now! United are battling Newcastle for Sesko, who is valued at £70million by RB Leipzig. The German club would consider selling and are believed to be interested in Hojlund, with a potential swap deal on offer. But the striker has privately informed the club that he wants to stay and fight for his place, according to Ben Jacobs. And it is believed he is not keen on a switch to RB Leipzig, which puts Sesko's arrival at threat. As a result, some United fans are not happy with Hojlund and fear they could miss out on Sesko. One said: "So he's gonna be the reason we don't get Sesko, don't hate the guy but come on, he's not good enough and now just sabotaging us even more tbh." Another added: "If this prevents us potentially getting Sesko." A third wrote: "This guy thinks he has a chance of staying if Sesko chooses to come to Manchester United? 🤡" 3 Newcastle have reportedly met Sesko's asking price but the Red Devils are not out of the race. More negotiations are scheduled with both clubs and United are "ready to make their move". Sesko, 22, has a gentleman's agreement with RB Leipzig that he can leave if they receive a good enough offer. And with talks ongoing, Sesko was left out of their pre-season friendly against Atalanta today. RB Leipzig chief Marcel Schafer was asked about the player's future and he said: "We won't go into detail on that, but when I say that several clubs have shown strong interest and have made approaches, it's obvious what has happened."
