Stray dogs kill 30 govt-subsidised chickens in Annur village; farmer blames meat waste dumping
The aggrieved farmer, EM Thangamuthu, of Kallan Chetti Thottam at Ellapalayam village, demanded the authorities to prevent dumping of chicken waste on roadsides in the area to curb the threat posed by dogs. Thangamuthu is so upset that he said he will not seek any compensation for the lost chickens.
Ellapalayam village comes under the Kattampatti Pachayat.
"Around 40 chicken stalls are functioning in Ganesapuram in Kariampalayam area. Every day, the shops dump the waste on the roadside. After eating the meat waste, stray dogs turn violent," he said.
Thangamuthu was provided 40 chicks in May by the Tamil Nadu Animal Husbandry department.
Six stray dogs entered his farmland in the wee hours of Saturday and killed 30 out of 40 chickens on the spot in a span of 10 minute. "I was not in the house around 3 am. When my wife came out, she found the stray dogs were mauling the chicken. I had reared them for the last three months. I had planned to develop poultry farming. Now, the plan has been dashed. I have lost chickens worth over Rs 20,000," said Thangamuthu.
Stray dog bites had killed four goats of another person, Thangavel of Chinnaputhur near Kariampalayam, two weeks ago. Villagers have appealed to the district administration to hold a consultation meeting with the owners of the chicken stalls and advise them proper disposal of meat waste.

‘Thought we won't be poor anymore': Noida man's account credited with Rs 1 billion 13 lakh crore due to app glitch, then frozen
It was just another Sunday. Dileep Singh (20), a Class 12 dropout from Noida, decided it was time for a change. He had been using his old phone for some time, and was finally switching to a new one. He carefully transferred his SIM card into the new device, ready to set it up. But things didn't go as smoothly as expected. Once the device was on, his mobile data wasn't working. He quickly recharged his phone, reinstalled all his applications, and started logging into each of them. Then came the moment that changed everything. He opened a digital finance app. As the interface loaded and his account balance appeared, Dileep blinked in disbelief. The number on his screen didn't seem real. 'I couldn't believe it,' he said. 'It was an amount with 37 digits. The balance read: Rs 10,01,35,60,00,00,00,00,00,01,00,23,56,00,00,00,00,299. (1 billion, 13 lakh and 55 thousand crore)'. The astronomical sum meant he was richer than Forbes billionaires. 'For a few seconds, I thought, I was dreaming. Then, I informed my grandmother about it,' he said. Dileep lost his mother two months ago and his father 10 years ago. After losing his parents, he had been staying with her maternal grandmother, Maya Devi (65). 'I asked him to transfer some money from his account to someone and check. I was so happy. I thought we will not be poor anymore,' Maya Devi told The Indian Express. When he attempted to transfer the money, he could not. 'There was a message instead. Message mein tha ki koi technical issue hai bank se (The message said that there was a technical issue with the bank). After I tried transferring again, my account was frozen,' he said. Deepak said he was told by the bank that his account was frozen for a probe. According to the officers of Dankaur Police Station, a technical glitch in the digital finance app appears to have caused the app to erroneously display such an inflated account balance. 'This was likely due to a bug and only appeared within the app. Upon logging into his account through another application, Deepak's current balance showed to be zero. Further, an official bank statement was obtained via email, which also confirmed no account balance like before,' said the officer. When contacted, Station House Officer Munendra Singh confirmed that it was a bug that caused the confusion. 'We verified the claims. There is no amount in his account. We have not received any complaint from the consumer and therefore are not taking any legal action,' he said. B'luru to Noida: IMEI trail leads cops to call centre, 11 held for loan fraud
Noida: Eleven people were arrested from a call centre in Sector 16 for cheating several people across the country over three years by selling fake insurance polices with offer of zero-interest loans. The call centre was busted in a joint operation by cyber crime, surveillance team, and Phase 1 police. The gang leader and his wife are absconding. According to DCP Yamuna Prasad a complaint of the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMIE) number of a desk phone was registered in Bangalore on National Cybercrime Reporting Portal. On tracking, the number lead to the call centre. Everytime police got information about their activities, they would shut the place overnight and set it up at another location," he said. Once convinced, the victim would be asked to take an insurance policy as collateral for the loan and charged up to 60% commission for the paperwork. While it is not immediately clear if the gang was working in collusion with insurance companies, cops said the victims neither got the loan amount nor the documents for the insurance policy. The 11 persons arrested are Ghaziabad residents Vikram Singh, Aman Kumar, Keshav Kumar, and Arman Chaudhary, Delhi residents Mohit, Firoz Khan, Rahul Kumar, Akshay Kumar Mishra, and Pankaj Singh, Agra resident Rahul Singh, and Sector 22 resident Divya Singh. The accused ring leaders ran the call centre remotely. According to the police, the arrested revealed that the couple came to Noida sometimes but mostly held meetings through Zoom. The money collected daily, would get deposited in their accounts. A team has been formed to arrest the couple. The ADCP further revealed that the absconding couple rented a floor in the five-storey building in Sector 16 for Rs 2 lakh per month to run the scam.
