Backstreet Boys promise 'oh my God' moment as iconic boyband set to make history
Backstreet's back, it's official! Yes, the Boys – Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson and Howie Dorough – have returned 30 years after they first took the pop world by storm in 1995 with the single, We've Got It Goin' On. Before long, they won scores of devoted teenage fans around the world. Now, the five-piece are all set for a huge Las Vegas takeover this summer, and Brian – who was just 20 when the group skyrocketed to fame – says audiences are in for a real treat.
The band are also releasing a reissue of their best-selling 1999 album Millennium, called Millennium 2.0, and will be kicking off a history-making residency that Brian promises will be 'like no other'. Here, OK! catches up exclusively with the now 50-year-old to talk about the wild ride the band's been on and why his son Baylee, 22, his only child with wife Leighanne, 55, is his biggest inspiration.
Hi, Brian! It's been 30 years since the Backstreet Boys first found fame. How has your time in the band been?
Wow, I mean, how do I put it into words? It's been a wonderful journey with a lot of ups and downs yet, at the same time, a whole lot of joy. We're blessed each and every day to work – if you call it work, and entertain. To still be doing this and for people to still want to hear our music and see our shows, it's amazing.
What can people expect from your Las Vegas takeover at The Sphere?
A lot of fun! Just because of the building alone, this show is so different. It's so immersive. The seats vibrate. It's like watching a giant movie, so it's going to be exciting and it's going to be something new for our fans as well as for us. But the experience is something like no other. We've got some tricks up our sleeve. We're going to be doing some things that nobody has ever done in The Sphere. But I have to be tight-lipped, so I can't share just yet. Come 11 July, when social media hits, you'll be like, 'Oh, my God!'
Go on, give us a clue… It's hard to explain, but there's a show that's on the screen itself, like a movie. It's a journey. We're taking people through time and space. It's Millennium themed. You can get the gist of what it's going to be about if you know the Millennium record. We call it like two shows at once. We will literally be larger than life on screen, you know a good 40 or 50 feet tall. We're the first pop group to do it in The Sphere and we're going to be doing a lot of things that nobody has ever done before. We're still dancing and singing, so we've still got it going on.
So, why now and why Millennium?
It's been 25 years. Well, it's actually 26 because it came out in 1999. But this is a monumental moment. It was one of the biggest pop records in history around the world. And it's kind of the stamp of approval for us in the music business. It set the benchmark, I think, for every pop group to come after us to be like, 'Wow, we've got to do something like that.' So, it's monumental for us to re-release the album and to have new versions and they're going to be even more fantastic. So, why not share in that journey again, and build a show around it and be the first of our kind to do The Sphere?
You must have one song from your catalogue that you never tire of singing?
Man, that's hard. You know, we've got a lot of hits. I wrote Larger Than Life and The One. I put The Perfect Fan on that album and dedicated it to my mom. There's a song I love called Siberia – it's probably one of my favourites of all time.
What's the secret ingredient to boyband success? Communication. You've got to have the love and passion for it. But, yeah, keeping an open line of communication will keep you together.
Your son Baylee is also making a name for himself in the music industry, isn't he?
Oh, man. Yeah, he's a singer-songwriter. He was on the last season of American Idol and just had his first single released, called Hey Jesus. He's so talented. I get a little emotional when I talk about my son. He's super gifted and he's taught me a lot about the journey and wanting to be better. He's become my inspiration more than I have been his, lately.
The Backstreet Boys' Into The Millennium Sphere residency starts on 11 July and their album Millennium 2.0 is also out the same day

Love Island's Alex Bowen has issued a pregnancy update as he and wife Olivia Bowen prepare to welcome a baby girl, the couple's second child together Love Island alum Alex Bowen has given fans an update on wife Olivia as they eagerly await the arrival of their baby daughter. The expectant parents, who found love on the hit ITV2 reality show's second series, shared their joyous announcement back in February with an adorable homemade video and later delighted followers with footage of their three year old son Abel revealing a pink-ribboned bear. While the baby's due date remains under wraps, Alex has let slip that his partner is feeling exhausted, especially with the recent heatwave: "Olivia's very tired and with the heat recently it's been a little bit mad for her." To beat the heat, the couple has taken measures at home, he reveals: "We've got air con in the bedroom and in the kitchen so she kind of drifts between each room so she'll spend time in the bedroom and when she gets bored she goes into the kitchen." Alex expresses immense pride in how Olivia is coping, adding: "She's alright and doing well, I'm proud of her, bless her.", reports OK!. Already anticipating the new addition to their family, he exclaims: "I can't wait to have a little girl. We've very lucky to have a boy and a girl." The Bowens opened up about experiencing Vanishing Twin Syndrome earlier in the pregnancy – a phenomenon where one twin is absorbed in the womb during the first trimester. Olivia bravely discussed their encounter with the condition on Loose Women, sharing: "As soon as we found out it was twins I was already quite nervous because we've not had a great history of twins in our family but Alex was so positive." Speaking about a difficult moment during the pregnancy, Alex shared: "We went back at eight weeks and something happened called Vanishing Twin Syndrome. I'd had no symptoms, I'd had no pain, no bleeding, absolutely nothing to tell me that that was what we were walking into and I guess from that moment we were completely floored." Alongside expecting another child, Alex is gearing up to flex his muscles in a bodybuilding competition. He said: "I'm actually competing on stage on November 9 in a bodybuilding thing which is something I've never wanted to do but my friend talked me into it." Discussing fitness challenges, he mentioned: "I'm pretty injured at the moment so I can't run and I was losing my head a little bit with training, but it's something to lock in and a process to go through every day." Despite the timing, he's embracing the challenge: "It is a mad time to do it when I've got another kid on the way but I like make things difficult for myself." The couple, Olivia and Alex, first got together on Love Island's second series in 2016 and have since celebrated six years of marriage. Their family started to grow when they welcomed their son Abel in June 2022. If you have been affected by this story, advice and support can be found at Sands (stillbirth and neonatal death charity). The real reason Brian McFadden won't EVER forgive Kerry Katona despite her pleas as pals reveal brutal truth
After Kerry was notably absent from Brian's wedding to Danielle Parkinson at the weekend, our insider reveals how the former Atomic Kitten star burnt her bridges with her ex-husband SHE'S desperate to be friends with her ex-husband Brian McFadden, two decades on from their bitter divorce. But now those close to Kerry Katona have revealed it's never going to happen - and for one very surprising reason. Last month, mum of five Kerry, who shares daughters Molly and Lilly with the former Westlife star, said, 'I wish Brian and I could have stayed friends. Molly went to watch him at a festival last week and I would have loved to have gone with her. It would be great to have a better relationship.' 7 Kerry Katona has revealed she's desperate to be friends with ex-hubby Brian McFadden but says it'll never happen for one reason Credit: Getty 7 Kerry Katona opened up about her tense and frosty relationship with ex-husband Brian McFadden on a podcast Credit: Instagram/mattfoister But sources close to Kerry have explained why that will never be an option for the Atomic Kitten singer. 'Kerry has burnt her bridges with Brian, thanks to years of speaking out of turn,' they explained. 'She's got a heart of gold but a big mouth and that has always been her downfall. "Kerry has a bad habit of not thinking before she speaks and it's landed her in hot water with Brian on many occasions. She'll say something publicly that is either outrageous or something she should have kept private between them and it gets her in trouble. "There's been many times her girls have asked her to rein it in when speaking about their dad, they know better than anyone how it gets to him.' Kerry's got a heart of gold but a big mouth and that has always been her downfall Kerry, 44, has publicly blasted Brian before, calling him a 's**t dad', a 'd**k' and 'the fat one in Westlife', in separate interviews. When Brian, 45, joked that his daughters must be 'sick of weddings', due to Kerry's three marriages, she retorted, 'That's just Brian for you – trying to be funny, but being a bit of a d*ck in the process.' And when discussing their split during a podcast in 2023, she raged, 'He was a sh*t dad. I'm the one who provides for them. I didn't get maintenance money off Brian.' In her most recent biography, Whole Again, Kerry said her daughters don't have a great relationship with their dad now, even claiming her late third husband George Kay, who was physically and emotionally abusive towards her, was more of a father to Molly and Lilly. 'Brian's their biological dad, but he hasn't played that all important father figure in their lives growing up,' she wrote, adding, 'for all his faults, George was more of a dad to those girls than Brian ever was.' Our source believes it's comments like this which stop Brian from ever being truly amicable with Kerry. She even revealed last week that he had blocked her on social media. Kerry Katona reveals tense relationship with first husband Brian McFadden and shares hopes for a friendship with ex And she was notably absent from his wedding to Danielle Parkinson at the weekend, despite the fact Molly and Lilly did appear to attend the lavish nuptials at Lusty Glaze Beach in New Quay, Cornwall. The girls shared a sweet Instagram story from the event, in which they looked happy and excited to watch their dad marry his partner of five years - casting doubt on Kerry's assumption that they don't have a good relationship with their father. 7 Kerry has publicly blasted Brian before, calling him a 'sh*t dad', a 'd*ck' and 'the fat one in Westlife' Credit: Getty 7 Brian is now happily married to teacher Danielle with whom he shares daughter Ruby Credit: instagram It's little wonder Kerry didn't make the guestlist. Brian won't even discuss her publicly now, famously refusing to speak about her during his appearance on last year's BBC documentary Boybands Forever. In an incredibly awkward exchange the interviewer starts to say on camera, 'Marrying Kerry, you're sort of…' leading Brian to quickly interrupt, 'I don't want to talk about her, no. Definitely no.' 'That really hurt Kerry,' the insider said. 'She made jokes about it but privately she was gutted that it was shown on national TV. She and Brian have history together, a marriage and children and she's sad he feels he can't acknowledge it at all. "She thinks he's embarrassed by her and she's probably not far wrong. But in his defence, she's not made it easy for him.' While Kerry has privately told pals she's 'sick of talking about Brian after 20 years' and wishes people would let it lie, the source says she's still holding on to some of the kudos of being one of the 'it' couples in the early 00s. They met when Westlife and Atomic Kitten toured together in 1999. Molly came along in August 2001 and Kerry and Brian were married in a romantic ceremony the following year, when Molly was four months old. Lilly was born in February 2003. Kerry thinks he's embarrassed by her and she's probably not far wrong Sadly, it transpired that Brian had cheated on Kerry with a stripper on his stag do. The marriage lasted just two years. 'For a brief moment in time Kerry had it all - a successful career, a husband in a boyband and two beautiful children,' the source continued. 'She has never regretted the marriage, mainly because it gave her Molly and Lilly, but she also looks back with rose tinted glasses because they truly were living a charmed life. "She would hang out with pop stars like Mariah Carey and get taken to the most wonderful events. She knew how lucky she was, going from being in foster care in Warrington to the wife of one of the country's most eligible men. It's why, in a way, she still clings on to her past with Brian. Being his friend would somehow keep that past alive.' Kerry herself said on the Meeting… podcast last week, 'He is a part of my story and he hates that, but unfortunately it is what it is and I'm grateful to him, because I went through something with Brian that was phenomenal.' 7 Brian won't even discuss ex Kerry publicly now, famously refusing to speak about her during his appearance on BBC documentary Boybands Forever Credit: Rex Features 7 Westlife members Brian McFadden, Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Shane Filan pictured in 2000 Credit: Getty 7 Kerry, pictured with Liz McClarnon and Natasha Hamilton, has burned all bridges with Brian, claims our source Credit: Rex But for Brian, marriage to Kerry was a very different story from the start. Recalling their ill fated nuptials he said in 2007, 'I woke up one morning and realised, 'This is not what I want to do with my life, I don't see myself being with this woman in 20 years, she's not who I'm meant to be with, we don't have anything in common'." That was the time I felt 'This is not supposed to be'." Kerry, meanwhile, recalled her devastation over his cheating, saying, 'I loved Brian and I trusted him. I remember thinking: 'But he's the fat one from Westlife. Why would he do this to me?'" Brian is now happily married to teacher Danielle with whom he shares daughter Ruby, four. Kerry is single again since splitting from fiance Ryan Mahoney in November after a six year relationship . She was previously married to taxi driver Mark Croft, father of her children Heidi, 18 and Max, 17 and George, dad of 11-year-old Dylan-Jorge, and who died in 2019 at the age of 39 after ingesting a ball of cocaine he'd bundled into a sock. Kerry is due to tour with pal Katie Price later this year in a 'tell-all' show which will feature 'stories of marriage and divorce' - words which will no doubt make Brian's blood run cold.

Michelle Heaton says Katie Price played a role in her alcohol abuse recovery
Michelle Heaton appeared on Good Morning Britain to talk about the journey that led her to now being four years sober, and thanked Katie Price for encouraging her to try rehab Michelle Heaton has credited best pal Katie Price with helping her turn her life around, revealing it was the former glamour model's own battle with addiction that gave her the hope she desperately needed to get sober. During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, the Liberty X singer opened up about the dark depths of her alcohol addiction and how, four years on, she's finally thriving after hitting rock bottom. Speaking to hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley, Michelle, 44, shared how isolated she became during the worst period of her drinking. "Listen, my family, my friends, just didn't want to talk to me anymore," she confessed. But there was one person who didn't give up on her. Michelle shared: "There was just one particular day I remember. I was with Katie and she was great at the time. She had just had a bit of a stint in rehab herself. I recognised that maybe if she could do it, maybe I could. "It took that recognition with somebody who had actually been in the system for me to realise that maybe I could do it too, because I honestly thought there was no hope." The singer, who found fame in the early 2000s with hits like Just a Little, revealed how her drinking crept up on her over the years. She added: "The thing about alcohol: it's cunning and it's baffling and I didn't see the crossover. It wasn't something that just happened overnight, all of a sudden I was drinking that copious amounts of alcohol. "It was something that was gradual. Alcohol was always my friend. It was there to give me confidence. I drank before I did a gig. It was all part of my career in Liberty X. But it wasn't something I was dependent on, until I was." Michelle has had a remarkable road to recovery. In 2020, doctors warned her she was close to death as her liver was failing after years of excessive drinking. Now she is four years sober, and has completely transformed her life. The mother-of-two is embracing a healthy lifestyle, working out regularly, and being mindful of what she eats. She previously told OK! Magazine: "My poor body has been through a lot. I have a new-found respect for it. I get my sleep and Hugh and I own a gym and work out together quite a bit." She is also keen to show others that recovery is possible. "I'm living proof you can do it — even from rock bottom," Michelle said proudly. Despite being four years sober, Michelle knows she can't take anything for granted. When she was asked if she's ever tempted to have a drink in December 2024, she insisted she's "over that" but remains vigilant. She added: "I'm under no illusion that the old demons could creep back in. That's waiting for me just around the corner if I don't stay on top of my recovery — for me, [that's following] the Twelve Step Fellowship. I say I'm 'in recovery', not 'recovered' for that very reason."
