Keelakarai Municipal Commissioner placed under suspension
With only a few days remaining for the retirement of Keelakarai Municipal Commissioner, the official was placed under suspension by higher authorities.
In a communication from the Regional Director of Municipal Administration P.M.N. Mujibeer Rahumaan dated June 26, 2025, the information regarding the suspension was informed to the commissioner office.
The letter stated that under rule-17(e) of Tamil Nadu Civil Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1955, Assistant Commissioner R. Renganayake was placed under suspension.
Sources said the action was taken because a few cases were booked against the official when she served in Karaikudi.

Bhullar said that Iqbal Singh Brar (Superintendent, District Jail, Mansa), Maninder Pal Cheema (Deputy Superintendent, Central Jail, Ludhiana), Anil Bhandari (Deputy Superintendent, Borstal Jail, Ludhiana), Sandeep Brar (Deputy Superintendent, Central Jail, Ludhiana), and Yadvinder Singh (ASJ, Central Jail, Ferozepur), were among the top jail officials who faced the action. The Jail Minister warned all the officers and employees of the department and said that they should ensure that their duties are done honestly, diligently and according to the rules. In 2023, a TV interview of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi while he was in jail, led to the dismissal of a Punjab Police DSP. An Special Investigation Team (SIT) found that the DSP facilitated Bishnoi's interview recording while the gangster was in CIA Kharar's custody in March 2023.
