Employees appreciate DA hike but push for broader reforms
The Telangana Employees JAC Chairman further stated that a friendly government was operating in the state, which is why the government has formed a three-member committee headed by Naveen Mittal, comprising three IAS officers, to address employee issues, holding discussions with all employee unions in the state and taking up their requests. The JAC demanded that cashless medical treatment be provided to all employees, pending bills be released, the new pension scheme (CPS) be abolished and the old pension scheme (OPS) be reinstated, a special corporation be set up for employees of neighbouring services, and some other types of transfers be provided through 317 GO.
Apart from this, it has been requested that 24 issues not immediately impacting the government exchequer be resolved first, with the remaining 14 issues that have a financial impact to be resolved in a phased manner. Employees requested that bills below Rs 10 lakh be cleared through e-Kuber, and for this, the government has agreed to clear Rs 700 crore every month, which will be of great benefit to every employee. A trust will be set up for an improved health scheme to provide cashless medical treatment through the Employees Health Scheme (EHS), and it has been stated that difficulties will not arise as the trust is designed in such a way that only senior officers and employees are members. The JAC leaders thanked Revenue Minister Srinivasa Reddy for the cabinet decision and also called for initiatives to resolve the problems of the remaining revenue employees.

Jagan, Sajjala condemn arrest of Midhun Reddy
Vijayawada: YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and state coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy strongly condemned the arrest of YSRCP MP P V Midhun Reddy, labelling it a politically motivated conspiracy by the TDP-led government to silence opposition voices. Jagan, in a tweet, called the arrest a 'targeted act of vendetta' to mask TDP's own scams, alleging that the liquor scam case against Midhun is built on coerced confessions and lacks evidence. He accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, himself on bail for corruption cases from 2014-19, which were filed by his government, of reviving corrupt liquor practices like belt shops and permit rooms, undoing YSRCP's transparent state-controlled liquor system. Ramakrishna Reddy, speaking outside the ACB Court, dismissed the liquor scam as a fabricated narrative, noting the Special Investigation Team's failure to produce evidence despite fluctuating claims of losses from Rs 50,000 crore to Rs 3,000 crore. He challenged Naidu to probe both TDP and YSRCP tenures via Central agencies. Both leaders vowed that YSRCP would resist this 'witch-hunt' and continue advocating for the people, asserting the case's lack of legal merit will unravel in court.

35 primary schools to be upgraded to model status
Chittoor: As part of a major educational infrastructure push, 35 primary schools in Kuppam Assembly constituency have been sanctioned for upgradation as model schools. District Collector Sumit Kumar directed officials to expedite the construction works and ensure their completion within 100 days. The Collector stated that the State government has approved the upgradation of these 35 primary schools across various mandals of the constituency. Specifically, construction in Kuppam mandal will cover 10 schools under the supervision of Samagra Shiksha APC, eight schools in Santhipuram mandal and seven in Gudipalli mandal will be overseen by the AP Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation (APEWIDC), while 10 schools in Ramakuppam mandal will be monitored by the Panchayat Raj SE. Each model school is planned to have five classrooms and five teachers. The government has sanctioned Rs 10.36 crore for the construction works, with strict instructions to start immediately and complete within the stipulated timeframe. Sumit Kumar instructed that measures be taken by Kadapa PWD and Samagra Shiksha APC to procure essential infrastructure including RO plants, doors, desks and other school-related materials for all 35 schools. The Collector made it clear that the works must meet quality standards across all 11 components involved, and there should be no compromise in this regard. He directed that progress reports, including details of sanctioned works, construction progress, and expenditure, be regularly submitted by the Samagra Shiksha APC. Mandal Education Officers (MEOs) of the respective mandals have been asked to frequently inspect the construction works and facilitate their speedy completion. Tenders should be called for procuring the necessary construction material. For every 25 per cent of construction work completed, measurement books (M-books) should be prepared and sent to the Samagra Shiksha APC to facilitate timely fund disbursement. Efforts will be made to ensure that payments are released promptly for every certified bill uploaded, the Collector added.

Today's graduates should mentor the next generation: Jindal
Tirupati: Chairmanof the IIT Tirupati Board of Governors and head of the JSW Group Sajjan Jindal, called on the latest batch of IIT Tirupati graduates to remember their roots and give back to the institution as they advance in their careers. Speaking at the institute's 7th convocation on Sunday, Jindal said that giving back doesn't always mean financial contributions – it can also be in the form of time, ideas, mentorship, or support. 'As alumni, it is your responsibility to uplift the next generation of students,' he said. Jindal also highlighted the national vision of Viksit Bharat, which aims to transform India into a developed economy. Achieving this, he said, requires a holistic approach that combines both economic progress and social development and most importantly, the sustained dedication of every citizen. The chief guest for the event, Lakshmi Narayanan, co-founder of Cognizant Technologies and chancellor of KREA University, advised the graduates to remain open to diverse perspectives and to always stand up for what is right. He encouraged them to stay curious, creative, and critical in their thinking, qualities that he said would serve them well both professionally and personally. 'Exercise your faith and keep exploring your doubts until faith takes their place,' he added. IIT Tirupati director Prof K N Satyanarayana shared the institute's progress since its inception and outlined its plans for the future. He announced that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Phase B of the campus expansion had recently been approved by the Cabinet. Under this phase, the student capacity is expected to grow to 2,685 by the 2028-29 academic year. The government has sanctioned Rs 2,313 crore for the project, with tenders set to be invited by the end of 2025. At the convocation, 417 degrees were awarded across various programmes: 212 BTech, 91 MTech, 53 MSc, 16 Master of Public Policy (MPP), 13 MS (Research), 28 PhDs, along with dual degrees, a diploma, and a certificate in Foundations in Engineering Sciences. Eighteen students received medals and prizes for their academic and extracurricular achievements. Among the awardees, Arvind Srinivasan stood out by winning the President's Gold Medal for the best academic performance among the 2025 BTech graduates. Megavarshini was awarded the Governor's Prize for her all-round excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities. Other top performers in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes were also recognised.
