Family upholds tradition of serving Podapitha in Bargarh
After nine days at the Mausi Maa Temple, Lord Dadhibaman is offered Podapitha, believed to be his beloved food. This year, six quintals of the delicacy were prepared by 16 skilled pithakars brought together by the Satpathy family.
Made using traditional ingredients like wheat flour, jaggery, ghee, dry fruits, and aromatic spices, the Podapitha is baked in a time-honoured process; wrapped in sal leaves and slow-baked under hot embers, preserving its ritualistic essence through centuries.
According to legend, after a devastating fire damaged the temple in the 17th century, the practice of offering Pitha Bhoga instead of Anna Bhoga began. Since then, the tradition of offering Podapitha during Bahuda Yatra has remained unbroken in Bhatli.
Devotees believe that Lord Dadhibaman had expressed his wish to taste Podapitha made by his Mausi Maa, adding a deeply personal and intimate layer to the ritual.
Kabi Satpathy, a member of the Satpathy family, said preparing Podapitha for Lord Dadhibaman for the last eight generations has been the family's tradition. 'It's a divine blessing to carry this tradition forward. We start preparations early on Navami, and it takes several hours of dedicated effort. With each passing year, we've increased the quantity. This isn't just a ritual but an emotion that binds us to our ancestors.'

Thousands gather in Keonjhar to watch ceremony
1 2 Keonjhar: Thousands of devotees from across the district gathered here to witness the Suna Besha ceremony atop the 'world's tallest' chariot on Sunday. Sources said on Sunday morning, the devotees pulled the Nandighosh chariot, which was stopped on Saturday during Bahuda Yatra due to heavy rain. After the chariot was parked near the Shri Baladevjew Temple at 10:40am, the traditional Suna Besha ceremony was performed. Extensive arrangements were made by the district administration, police and temple authorities to ensure the smooth conduct of the rituals. Security was tightened with a cordon put around the chariot for helping devotees witness the ceremony smoothly. Traffic was restricted from 3pm to ensure the devotees didn't face any inconvenience to reach near the chariot. While Lord Balabhadra is adorned with a gold crown having 14 precious stones, Lord Jagannath wore a gold crown with 12 stones, and Devi Subhadra had a gold crown with 12 stones. Other jewellery included two pairs of gold earrings, a necklace, a gold 'rudraksha garland', a silver crown, four silver hands, four silver legs and four silver feet.

City revellers participate in Jagannath Rath Yatra
1 2 3 Ranchi: Devotees and enthusiasts with umbrellas participated in the return journey of Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra from the Gundicha Temple (Mausibari) to the Jagannath Temple. After a nine-day ceremonial stay, the three revered deities Lord Jagannath, his sister Subhadra, and brother Balabhadra were brought back in a grand procession filled with faith, festivity, and fervor. Devotees offered warm welcomes at several points along the route. Flowers, chants, aarti, and devotional songs marked the entire stretch. "The joy of seeing Lord Jagannath near one's home brings unmatched happiness. This is not just a procession, it's a blessing," said Abhishek Kumar, an elderly devotee carrying an umbrella.. Sudhanshu Nath Sahdeo, a member of the Jagannath Temple Trust, said, " The Ghurti Rath Yatra reflected the unshakable devotion, cultural unity, and timeless spirit of Lord Jagannath's followers, adding yet another remarkable chapter to the centuries-old legacy. " Over 100 police and security personnel were deployed for crowd control and law enforcement. Additionally, 25 sanitation workers ensured a clean and devotional environment.

Devotees offer prayers at Maru Rath Yatra
Hundreds of devotees offered prayers to Lord Jagannath Swamy and His siblings during the Maru Rath Yatra held in Vizianagaram on Saturday (July 5). The celestial chariot stationed at Sri Kanyakumari temple was decorated on the culmination day of the procession. Jagannath Swamy temple Seva Samithi members and police personnel ensured hassle free darshan for the devotees. Endowments Department official Edukondalu coordinated arrangements for the Rath Yatra.
