Human remains discovered at site of previous search for ‘Disappeared' victim

, that the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains (ICLVR) was investigating.
Following the recent exhumation of the cemetery in relation to the search for
Joe Lynskey
, information came to the ICLVR indicating another small area of interest within the confines of the cemetery.
This area of interest is not another family grave site, it said.
The State Pathologist has been notified and the remains have been taken away for technical examination.

Mr Lynskey was abducted, shot dead and secretly buried by the
IRA
in August 1972. He was 40 at the time and was the first of the 'Disappeared', a group of 17 people murdered and buried in secret locations during the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
Eamonn Henry, lead investigator of the ICLVR, said: 'I want to emphasise that this information did not relate directly to the disappearance of Joe Lynskey and so until we have a positive identification or the elimination of the remains as those of Joe Lynskey or any of the other of the Disappeared, we have to keep an open mind.'
Mr Henry also confirmed that the Lynskey family have been informed.
'We know only too well that the Lynskey family have had hopes raised before only to be bitterly disappointed and so, as ever, expectations have to be managed,' he said.
'The process of identification could take some time and we will continue to offer the family what support we can.'
He added: 'Regardless of the outcome, this work at Annyalla shows that where we have credible information, we will act on it.'

I was walking here, minding my own business and the next thing this garda shoved me and he shouldered me. The TD also said that the garda 'effed and blinded' at him during the alleged incident. Asked if he planned on making a complaint against the garda, Mr Healy-Rae sad: 'I will, I will.' 'He needs to be brought to account for it,' Mr Healy-Rae said. However, Mr Healy-Rae said he has 'fierce respect' for the gardaí and they have a 'tough job'. 'It was just a very, very isolated incident.' He added the garda involved must have 'some spite for me'. In a statement, An Garda Síochána said it 'does not comment on unverified social media content'. 'Any person who wishes to report the conduct of a member of An Garda Síochána can do so by contacting Fiosrú,' the spokesperson added.

GAA pay tribute to Fermanagh shooting victims at All-Ireland football final
The GAA have paid tribute to the victims of a fatal shooting in Maguiresbridge with a minute's applause at Croke Park ahead of Sunday's All-Ireland SFC final. Vanessa Whyte, who was 45, and her children, Sara (13) and James (14) died after they were shot at their home in the Co Fermanagh village on Wednesday. A male who also suffered gunshot wounds remains in a serious condition in hospital. Vanessa Whyte and her children were active members of two local GAA teams. In separate statements on Wednesday night, both St Mary's Maguiresbridge Gaelic Football Club and Lisbellaw St Patrick's Hurling Club offered "heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those impacted by the tragic incident. Vanessa Whyte and her children, Sarah and James "We are working with the GAA at county, provincial and national level, to implement the Association's critical incident protocols. We will work closely with all appropriate services to ensure that those who require support at this difficult time can access it. "The deceased were all active and beloved members of our club. We will not be making any further comment at this difficult time." A murder investigation has been launched, and police are probing a triple murder and attempted suicide line of inquiry. Ahead of today's All-Ireland SFC final at Croke Park between Donegal and Kerry, a minute's applause was warmly received with a picture of the mother and children displayed on the big screen at Croke Park. Ulster champions Donegal, managed by Jim McGuinness, are hoping to win their third All-Ireland title today as they take on Jack O'Connor's Kerry, who are bidding to win the Sam Maguire Cup for the 39th time.

‘We are coming here with hearts broken': Prayer service to be held for Fermanagh shooting victims
A prayer service will be held in Co Clare for a mother and two children killed in a shooting incident in Co Fermanagh . Vanessa Whyte (45), a vet from Co Clare, her son James (14) and daughter Sara (13), were killed in a suspected triple murder and attempted suicide at a house in Maguiresbridge on Wednesday morning. Ms Whyte was originally from Barefield, a village near Ennis in Co Clare. A murder investigation has been launched, while an adult male remains in a serious condition in hospital. READ MORE A prayer service will take place at the Church of Immaculate Conception in Barefield on Sunday evening. A notice on the parish website describes it as a service to remember Vanessa, Sara and James. Barefield parish priest, Fr Tom Fitzpatrick, said the community wanted to gather together to remember the family. The prayer service has been organised to take place on Sunday evening to allow for Ms Whyte's brother, Ivor, to travel home from Australia . 'The prayer service was organised by the community, myself and the pastoral council. We planned it days ago,' Fr Fitzpatrick said. 'The purpose of the service is to gather as a community and be with the family and let them know we are thinking of them and we are here in shock and in pain. 'When something happens in a rural community, even to one person, it affects everybody. We are coming here with hearts broken. A lot of the community knew Vanessa and she was so well loved.' It is understood that the funeral of the mother and her two children will take place in Barefield later this week. On Saturday, detectives from the major investigation team, who are carrying out the murder investigation, said they are continuing with their inquiries and appealed for information involving the movements of a vehicle. Detective Chief Inspector Neil McGuinness said: 'Our investigation is ongoing and we are working tirelessly to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy. 'I would continue to appeal generally for anyone with information to come forward, and more specifically, I would ask anyone who saw a silver Mercedes saloon car being driven in the Clones Road area of Newtownbutler, or between Maguiresbridge and Newtownbutler, on the evening of Tuesday July 22nd, to call detectives on 101, quoting reference 276 23/07/25. 'Anyone who was travelling in the area and who may have captured dashcam footage which could assist, please get in touch.' The man who remains in a serious condition in hospital was a member of the same household, the PSNI said.
