Prime Minister Narendra Modi soaks in spiritual experience on his visit to Gangaikonda Cholapuram
The spirit of bakthi hung in the air and Prime Minister Narendra Modi soaked in the spiritual experience during his more than two-hour visit to the Brihadisvara temple in Gangaikonda Cholapuram on Sunday. Sporting a traditional Tamil attire of white dhoti (veshti) and half-sleeve shirt with an angavastram (upper cloth), Mr. Modi offered prayers at the Shiva temple built by Rajendra Chola I, which is famous for its imposing architecture and exquisite sculptures. He was received with poorna kumbam honours. He performed aarathi to the presiding deity. Devotional renderings by maestro Ilaiyaraaja and a group of Odhuvars were held. The Odhuvars rendered the Thevaram hymns in praise of Lord Shiva, Thodudaiya Seviyan, Pithaa Piraisoodi Perumaney, and Muthaitharu Pathith Thirunagai from the Thirupugazh in praise of Lord Murugan. This was followed by the performance of the troupe led by Mr. Ilaiyaraaja. Singer Madhu Balakrishnan rendered the Om Sivahom. The maestro with his mesmerising voice rendered the Namah Shivaya Vaazhga Naadhanthaal Vaazhga and Poovar Senni Mannan of Saint Manickavasagar. The performances drew standing ovations from the Prime Minister. Moved by the spiritual atmosphere, Mr. Modi acknowledged it while speaking at the valedictory of the Aadi Thiruvathirai festival at the temple complex. Greeting the audience with 'Vanakkam Cholamandalam' (salutations to the Chola region), Mr. Modi appreciated the performances of Mr. Ilaiyaraaja and the Odhuvars. He handed over a pot of Ganga water from Kasi to the Sivachariars at the temple. The celebration of Ganga in the land of the Cauvery is also a legacy of the Chola Empire, he observed, and expressed happiness that he had once again brought Ganga water to Tamil Nadu. He viewed a thematic photo exhibition on 'Saiva Siddhanta and Chola Temple Arts', put up by the Union Ministry of Culture. Impressed by the achievements of the Cholas, he urged the people to visit the exhibition without fail. Mr. Modi released a Tamil musical album on Bhagavad Gita brought out by Chinmaya Mission and a publication on Thevaram brought out by Sahitya Akademi. He also held a roadshow on the way to the temple.

Logistics played key role in Operation Sindoor success, says Rajnath Singh
Synopsis Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauded Indian agencies for their seamless logistics management during Operation Sindoor, emphasizing its crucial role in the operation's success. He highlighted that modern warfare relies not only on weaponry but also on the timely delivery of resources. Seamless logistics management by Indian agencies-from mobilisation of the armed forces to delivering equipment at the right time and place-was a deciding factor in the success of Operation Sindoor, defence minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday. ADVERTISEMENT In a virtual address at the convocation ceremony of Vadodara-based Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), the minister said in the current era, wars are not just won by guns and bullets but by time-bound delivery of material, highlighting Op Sindoor as an example of excellent logistics management. "Whether it's soldiers fighting on the border or personnel engaged in disaster management, without coordination or proper management of resources, even the strongest of intentions weaken. Logistics is the power that transforms chaos into control. Power is measured not only by weapons, but also by timely resource management. Be it war, disaster or global pandemic, the nation which keeps its logistics chain strong is the most stable, secure and capable," he said. Remove non-biological PM too: Trinamool MP's taunt amid Bihar poll roll revision
In a fresh broadside against the BJP over the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee sarcastically demanded that the "non-biological" Prime Minister should be excluded from the list of eligible at an event in West Bengal's Hooghly district, Banerjee referenced PM Modi's past comments about being 'sent by God,' a remark that has since been used by several opposition leaders to mock the Prime PM Modi is non-biological and he is born spiritually as like Goddesses Kali, Durga and Lord Ram, then PM Modi is also not the Citizen of India. So his name should also be removed from the voter list,' Banerjee jibed. His taunt stems from a 2024 interview in which PM Modi said, 'Until my mother was alive, I used to think I was born biologically. After her demise, when I look at my experiences, I am convinced that I was sent by God... I'm nothing but an instrument that God has sent.'Kalyan Banerjee's remarks came amid an escalating row over the SIR process in Bihar, which opposition parties have slammed as an attempt to disenfranchise voters ahead of the assembly elections later this year. The first week of Parliament's Monsoon session was a washout due to repeated disruptions over the issue, as the Opposition demanding an immediate halt to the supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also opposed the revision drive, calling it 'nothing short of a scam.' Echoing her, Kalyan Banerjee alleged that the SIR was designed to help the BJP manipulate the electoral process.'Earlier, the voters used to decide the government of the country... Now the government of the country is deciding who can vote or not. No one's name will be in the voter list except BJP or BJP people... Election Commission is also the same,' Banerjee senior Trinamool leader questioned the logic of house-to-house verification being undertaken as part of the SIR.'What is the point of going from house to house and checking the voter list... If I don't stay in my house at that time, then my name will be removed from the voter list. How does that make any sense?' he parties in Bihar have claimed that crores of eligible voters, especially minorities and the marginalised, could be struck off the rolls due to a lack of required documentation. They have accused the BJP of using state machinery to target voters who are likely to support rival BJP has defended the SIR as a standard administrative exercise aimed at cleaning up voter rolls. However, the timing and scale of the revision have triggered political pushback just months ahead of the Bihar elections.- EndsTune InMust Watch
