Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman asked the railway minister about the status of the report of the committee constituted to investigate the stampede and the corrective steps taken by the government.
Vaishnaw said the high-level inquiry committee has submitted its report for consideration.
"As per findings of the report, an unfortunate incident on 15.02.25 happened on foot overbridge-3 stairs connecting platform 14/15 at New Delhi railway station. On the day of the incident, sufficient crowd management protocols were in place to handle the overall volume of passengers at the station," he said.

He added that there was a gradual increase on passengers, many of whom were also carrying big headloads.
"There was a gradual increase of passengers density on the FOB after 8.15 pm. Many of the passengers were carrying big headloads affecting smooth movement on the FOB.
'There was a big headload falling from one of the passengers and the pressure was passed on to the stairs of PF 14/15 stairs, resulting in the tripping of passengers on the stairs. This led to an incident at 8.48 pm on FOB-3, which was limited to the stairs of FOB. Consequently, passengers fell on each other."
Vaishnaw further said that 18 people died and 15 other were injured in the tragic incident, adding that an ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased, an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh each to the grievously injured and Rs 1 lakh each to other injured has been paid.
"Accordingly, a total amount of Rs 2.01 crore has been paid to 33 victims and their family members," Vaishnaw said.
The railway minister said the government has taken actions to handle a large crowd at stations, including the creation of permanent holding areas and access control measures. This includes allowing passengers with confirmed tickets, widening foot overbridges, installing CCTV cameras, developing war rooms at big stations, among others.

Synopsis Jagan Mohan Reddy accuses Chandrababu Naidu of betraying farmers by scrapping the Rythu Bharosa scheme and failing to fulfill pre-election promises. Reddy claims Naidu's government has not disbursed promised funds, excluding eligible farmers and weakening agricultural support systems. He alleges this neglect has led to farmer suicides and a lack of government empathy. ANI YSRCP chief Jagan Reddy slams Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu over 'betrayal of farmers' YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of "betraying farmers" by scrapping the Rythu Bharosa scheme, which provided investment support, and reneging on key pre-election alleged that Naidu's assurances ahead of the elections had proven hollow, with "zero implementation" exposing what he termed a "repeated betrayal after returning to power"."Naidu is once again betraying farmers by dismantling the Rythu Bharosa scheme and going back on his pre-election promises," Reddy claimed, in a post on 'X' late Saturday claimed the previous YSRCP government had provided Rs 13,500 annually to each farmer, exceeding its manifesto promise, and disbursed Rs 34,288 crore in investment support despite an "empty treasury".In contrast, he added that Naidu had promised Rs 20,000 annually under the Annadata Sukhibhava-Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, but had so far paid only Rs 5,000 over two years, excluding the Centre's Rs 6,000 contribution. PM Modi to inaugurate Bengaluru's Yellow Line Metro on Aug 10
BJP leader Tejasvi Surya on Sunday announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will will visit Bengaluru and inaugurate the Yellow Line Metro on August 10. Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Metro Phase-3, he said. In a post on 'X', Surya said, "Hon. PM Sri @narendramodi Ji's visit to Bengaluru on August 10 will be a landmark moment for Bengaluru South. He will not only inaugurate the long-awaited Yellow Line Metro operations but also lay the foundation stone for Metro Phase 3 - a project that received Cabinet approval within the first 100 days of his third term." He said the Yellow Line will cater to close to eight lakh riders and the 'infamous Silk Board jam' will be addressed greatly. Public transport is the only option to reduce traffic congestion. "Together, these projects will benefit nearly 25 lakh people in Bengaluru South," he said. The MP said by inaugurating it on August 10, the Yellow Line Metro project would meet the August 15 deadline. SMEs in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad seek govt intervention to cushion blow of Trump's tariffs on India
Small-scale industries in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad have urged the Central and Maharashtra governments to take immediate steps to mitigate the negative effects of the 25 per cent tariffs on imports from India proposed by United States President Donald Trump. Industrialist Arun Firodia has called for a drastic reduction in electricity charges as well as interest rates to ensure the sustainability of engineering exports. Firodia, who is the chairman of Kinetic Group, said drastic steps like a reduction in electricity rates have to be taken to keep up the competitiveness of Indian engineering goods in the US and world market. 'Our industries should get electricity at Rs 2 per unit,' he said. At present, industrial units purchase electricity at Rs 8.32 per unit in the state, which is one of the highest in the country. 'The government must take steps to increase the purchase power of the consumer by reducing domestic taxation,' he said. Last week, Trump announced a 25 per cent tariff on Indian imports from August 7, alongside an additional but unspecified 'penalty' for India's defence and energy imports from Russia. Small- and medium-scale industries in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad are mostly vendors and sub-vendors of the automotive industry in the district. In Pimpri-Chinchwad alone, more than 5,000 small and medium-scale industries employ over 3-4 lakh people in various engineering operations. SMEs are also involved in exports directly or indirectly. Precious stones, engineering goods, pharmaceutical, textiles are some of the major exports from the country to the USA. Abhay Bhor, president of the Federation of Small Scale Industries Association in Pimpri-Chinchwad, urged both the state and Central government to take urgent steps to mitigate the effects of the tariff. 'Engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, electronics and industrial packaging units are based on the US export markets for their survival. The tariff, Bhor said, will result in loss of jobs as well as closure of the industries. 'Most industries are going through a rough patch with this tariff; it can really be a body blow to the industries,' he said. Bhor requested Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to immediately interfere to ensure this crisis is resolved. 'The sector requires handholding and the chief minister must take urgent steps to help the sector,' he said.
