Rafizi no-show at PKR National Congress final day after defeat
As of 10.17am, the Pandan member of Parliament and Economy Minister had yet to make an appearance, sparking widespread speculation among delegates who were eagerly awaiting his presence at the congress hall.
Rafizi had been a central figure throughout the campaign, vocally using the platform of the "Reviving Reformist Ideals Amid Power Challenges" (Hiruk) tour to openly criticise the party's system and leadership, including his rivals contesting the election.
He had also publicly declared his readiness to relinquish his Cabinet position should he fail to secure the deputy president post in the PKR party elections.
The 2025 PKR National Congress saw significant changes in the party's top leadership lineup, including the defeat of several incumbents.
The most attention-grabbing contest was for the deputy president position, where Nurul Izzah Anwar defeated the incumbent Rafizi Ramli.
The official results for the Central Leadership Council (MPP) 2025-2028, including the deputy president post, were announced by Central Election Committee Chairperson Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa around 10.30pm last night, following the opening speech of the Congress by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Nurul Izzah, former Permatang Pauh MP, garnered 9,803 votes, defeating Rafizi, who secured 3,866 votes.
When approached by the media after the announcement, Rafizi declined to comment further, simply stating, "It's okay, you should ask the (new) deputy president."
He appeared displeased when asked if he accepted the result of losing to the 'Puteri Reformasi,' Nurul Izzah.
This morning, the PKR National Congress 2024/2025 continued with the debate session on the President's policy speech.
Earlier, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived at the congress venue at 8.40am accompanied by Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also the party's Advisory Council Chairperson.
Nurul Izzah arrived at approximately 8.20am alongside other top party leaders.

Marzuki rebuts Rafizi's claim: PN did offer DPM post and cabinet roles to BN after GE15
FORMER PKR Deputy President Rafizi Ramli claimed that PN did not offer any positions to BN during post-GE15 negotiations and that PN leader Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin looked down on UMNO. However, former Political Secretary to the eighth Prime Minister, Datuk Dr Marzuki Mohamad, has now countered Rafizi's claims by revealing a letter proving that PN did offer BN the Deputy Prime Minister post, Cabinet positions, and other government roles. Marzuki insisted that negotiations were cordial, Muhyiddin never belittled UMNO, and it was Rafizi who was lying about what truly happened in those discussions. 'I watched a podcast video by Rafizi claiming that PN did not make any offer to BN during the negotiations to form a government after GE15. 'In fact, he claimed Tan Sri Muhyiddin looked down on UMNO. He said he had an insider in the PN-BN negotiations at Hotel St Regis on 23 November 2022. 'I don't know if he really had an insider or not. Brother Rafizi, you are lying,' he said in a Facebook post on Saturday. Marzuki emphasised that he wasn't merely an insider but was directly involved in the negotiations from beginning to end. He described the discussions with BN as having taken place in a friendly and respectful atmosphere. 'Not once did Muhyiddin belittle UMNO. Moreover, those who attended were all his friends from UMNO and BN. They spoke like friends too. 'Secondly, in any negotiation, there must be offers. The BN delegation came with the offer of BN MPs giving 'en-bloc' support to Muhyiddin as Prime Minister. Yoon indicted on additional charges over martial law
Ousted conservative president Yoon Suk-yeol was indicted on additional criminal charges related to his ill-fated imposition of martial law, about three months after he was formally thrown out of office. Yoon's additional indictments mean he will remain in jail for up to six months as he faces a trial at the Seoul Central District Court on his Dec 3 martial law declaration that plunged South Korea into huge political turmoil. Yoon was sent back to prison last week after the Seoul court approved his arrest warrant requested by a team of investigators headed by independent counsel Cho Eun-suk. Cho's team indicted Yoon on abuse of power that obstructed the rights of some of his Cabinet members. The charge was imposed because Yoon summoned only select Cabinet members to approve his emergency martial law when South Korean law requires approval of all Cabinet members for such a measure, Park Ji-young, a senior investigator at Cho's team, said. Park said Yoon was also charged with fabricating an official document in an attempt to satisfy a formal requirement for a martial law declaration before he eventually destroyed it. After declaring martial law, Yoon sent troops and police officers to the opposition-controlled National Assembly, but enough lawmakers managed to enter an assembly chamber and voted down his decree, forcing his Cabinet to lift it. Yoon was later impeached by the assembly, with some of his ruling party lawmakers voting to suspend his presidential powers. Yoon has argued his decree was a desperate attempt to draw public support of his fight against the 'wickedness' of the main liberal opposition Democratic Party, which had obstructed his agenda, impeached top officials and slashed the government's budget Bill. In January, state prosecutors arrested and indicted him on rebellion, a grave charge that would incur the death penalty or life imprisonment if convicted. In March, however, Yoon was released from prison after a judge at the Seoul district court cancelled his arrest to allow him to stand trial without being held in custody. In April, the Constitutional Court formally dismissed Yoon as president, prompting a snap election to choose his successor. After winning that election, new President Lee Jae-myung approved legislation to launch independent investigations to uncover fuller details of Yoon's martial law stunt and delve into other criminal allegations involving his wife and administration.
