Rod Stewart Says Split from Ex Rachel Hunter ‘Tore Me to Shreds' While Reflecting on His Marriages
He met his current wife, Penny Lancaster, shortly after his split from Hunter
Stewart officially divorced Hunter in 2006 and married Lancaster in 2007Rod Stewart is reflecting on his past marriages, despite being happily married to his current wife, Penny Lancaster.
In an interview with The Times, published on Friday, June 27, the music icon, 80, spoke about how he met Lancaster at a bar shortly after his 1999 split from his second wife, Rachel Hunter, whom he had wed in 1990. The musician was married to his first wife, Alana Stewart, from 1979 to 1984.
"She came up and asked for my autograph, so I said, 'Do you like dancing?' She was an incredible dancer, gorgeous, 6ft 4in heels, ai-yi-yi," recalled Stewart of Lancaster.
Although he admitted he was "very lucky" going "out of one marriage and into the next," Stewart said that his breakup from Hunter wasn't easy.
"There were six months between Rachel and Penny because my bass player, who had Penny's number, wouldn't give it to me. He said, 'All you're going to do now is shag around.' And he was right: I had a splendid time in those six months," said Stewart.
"Rachel left me because she was too young — my sister said I should never have married her in the first place — but it tore me to shreds," he continued.
According to The Mirror, Rachel was just 21 and Rod was 45 when they exchanged their vows, a fact that ultimately played a significant role in their relationship.
After Stewart and Hunter officially divorced in 2006, according to The Mirror, Stewart and Lancaster tied the knot in 2007.
"Now I'm with Penny and she's got everything I could possibly want," Stewart told The Times.
In fact, in a 2021 interview with PEOPLE, the musician said that Lancaster has ultimately "mended my heart in more ways than one."
"It's a perfect relationship. I always tell the girls in my band and my daughters, 'A woman has so much living to do.' It's your life! Forget men," he said.
Stewart added that intimacy has been crucial in their romance.

"I'm not talking about sex, but a kiss and a cuddle and a hold," he said. "Penny and I do that every morning. We hug each other — sometimes in bed, sometimes out of bed, all throughout the day. It's a wonderful relationship. Lucky geezer, aren't I?"

Julia Garner addresses fan backlash to ‘gender-swapped' Fantastic Four casting
Julia Garner has responded to the initial backlash she faced for her casting in The Fantastic Four reboot. Last April, the 31-year-old Emmy-winning Ozark star joined the cast of Marvel Studios' new film, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. At first, it was believed that she would be taking on the role of a female version of the iconic Silver Surfer character who appeared in earlier comics. However, it was later confirmed that Garner will, in fact, be starring as Shalla-Bal, the immortal Empress of Zenn-La and lover of the Silver Surfer/Norrin Radd. Speaking to the BBC on Friday at the UK launch of the reboot, the Inventing Anna actor was asked about her reaction to the criticism she first received when it was assumed she was taking on a 'gender-swapped' Silver Surfer. 'I'm just going to still do my job,' she remembered thinking, 'and also it's Shalla-Bal so it's different.' Fan negativity didn't last long, however, as the first trailer, released in February, was widely well-received. 'I was just happy that people are resonating with it and just like any other project,' Garner added of the secondary praise. 'So I'm grateful to be at this dance, to be completely honest with you.' Garner previously spoke about her confusion when she was first approached for the role. 'I was confused because I was like, 'Wait, isn't the Silver Surfer a man?' I was just like, 'Okay, well, I'll play anything,'' she told Entertainment Weekly in April. 'Then [director Matt Shakman] was explaining to me that it's actually Shalla-Bal and that whole thing.' Shalla-Bal was originally introduced in Marvel Comics' The Silver Surfer #1 in August 1968. She has never appeared in a live-action movie until now. 'I knew who the Silver Surfer was, and I got to know the Silver Surfer more when I signed on to the project. I really dived in,' she added. 'I read a lot of the Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer comics before starting the project, and I knew that this Fantastic Four was going to be told in a very different way than even the other movies.' The Fantastic Four: First Steps stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, The Bear's Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, and Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch. Out in theaters July 25, the movie arrives 20 years after the 2005 adaptation, which featured Ioan Gruffudd, Michael Chiklis, Jessica Alba, and Chris Evans as the leading quartet. It will represent the first time all four characters will join the interlinking Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Disney's Marvel Studios acquired the rights to The Fantastic Four back in 2019 when the company merged with Fox. The original Fantastic Four comic books follow a group of scientists who develop superhero qualities after they are exposed to a mysterious cosmic storm.

Playboi Carti's Debut Album Grows 176,000% In Sales In One Week
Playboi Carti's Music and Die Lit return to the Top Album Sales chart after vinyl releases, with ... More Music selling 16,500 copies and Die Lit jumping nearly 176,000%. LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 02: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Playboi Carti performs on the main stage during Day 2 of Wireless Festival 2022 at Crystal Palace Park on July 02, 2022 in London, England. (Photo by Joseph Okpako/WireImage) Fans of Playboi Carti waited years for Music to arrive. The full-length was pushed back multiple times before it finally dropped earlier this spring, quickly shooting to No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Superfans of the rapper eagerly awaited the chance to own a copy of the project on vinyl, despite the fact that Carti hasn't historically emphasized that format. That changed when two of his most popular efforts were finally issued on wax recently, and both have become bestsellers. Music's 12,600% Sales Jump Both Music and Carti's debut album Die Lit saw dramatic increases in pure purchases once they were sold on vinyl. Of the two, Music emerged as the bigger winner this week. The 2025 effort sold 16,500 copies in the most recent tracking frame in the United States, according to Luminate. That's a jump of more than 12,600% from the period before the vinyl was issued. Die Lit's Sales Rocket 176,000% As impressive a leap as that is, Die Lit managed an even more spectacular gain. Originally released in 2018, the project was also issued on vinyl for the first time only a short while ago. Purchases skyrocketed, and Die Lit sold 12,300 copies in the U.S. last period. Before the vinyl became available, the album failed to generate even double-digit purchases. From one frame to the next, Die Lit experienced a sales increase of nearly 176,000%. Two Playboi Carti Albums Return to the Same Charts Both Music and Die Lit return to the Top Album Sales chart — and coincidentally, they now sit side-by-side. Even though Music sold several hundred more copies, the newer release reenters at No. 5, while Die Lit follows at No. 6. That marks an all-time high placement for Carti's debut on the list of the bestselling collections in the U.S. Music also surges on several other rankings, while Die Lit returns to four tallies. Both projects debut on the Vinyl Albums chart as well.
