PM Modi virtually inaugurates 18 redeveloped Railway Stations in Gujarat under Amrit Bharat Station scheme
PM Modi virtually inaugurated 18 redeveloped railway stations of Gujarat, developed at a cost of Rs 164 crore, during a program held in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel graced the inauguration ceremony of the redeveloped Limbdi station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister remarked that since former Gujarat CM Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, he has consistently prioritised infrastructure development and modernization to enhance the convenience, readiness, and welfare of both the armed forces and citizens. He emphasised that the transformation of the railways, modernization of stations, and the introduction of innovative passenger amenities have been driven by the Prime Minister's distinctive vision and unwavering commitment to nation-building.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 18 stations in Gujarat have been redeveloped and virtually inaugurated by the Prime Minister. These include Shihor Junction, Utran, Dakor, Derol, Hapa, Jamjodhpur, Jamwanthali, Kanalus Junction, Karamsad, Kosamba Junction, Limbdi, Mahuva, Mithapur, Morbi, Okha, Palitana, Rajula Junction, and Samakhiali stations.
The Chief Minister firmly stated that when there is a genuine will to serve the people and a steadfast commitment to development-oriented governance, revolutionary changes in railway services can be achieved through good governance--something the Prime Minister has exemplified on a global stage.
Highlighting this progress, he shared that under the Prime Minister's guidance, Gujarat has witnessed the electrification of 3,144 kilometers of railway lines since 2014, resulting in 97 percent of the state's railway routes now being electrified. CM highlighted that also, Rs 17,155 crore has been allocated for Gujarat in the railway budget for 2025-26. This is on average 29 times more than the budget allocated between 2009 and 2014.
The CM mentioned that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the Vande Bharat train network has expanded across the country, with Gujarat receiving four trains. Referring to this, he added that railway services have been expanded so that travelers from across the country and around the world can easily reach the world-renowned tourist destination, the Statue of Unity - Ekta Nagar.
The CM said that these redeveloped 18 railway stations in Gujarat, inaugurated by the Prime Minister, will significantly improve railway facilities and passenger amenities in the state.
Addressing the event, Surendranagar MP Chandubhai Shihora stated that under the guidance of PM Modi, old railway stations are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Railway Station Yojana. Various modern facilities and new technology-based trains are being developed in the railway sector. Vande Bharat trains are an excellent example of this. Given that railways remain the most widely used mode of transportation in the country, the government is taking comprehensive measures to ensure a smooth, comfortable, and hassle-free travel experience for passengers.
Kirit Sinh Rana, MLA of Limbdi, conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India for extending urban-level facilities to smaller talukas like Limbdi, bringing big-city infrastructure to rural regions.
On this occasion, all attendees watched the live telecast of the inauguration ceremony, where PM Modi unveiled 103 redeveloped railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana from Bikaner, Rajasthan. The Chief Minister also reviewed the newly developed, state-of-the-art facilities at the station and received a detailed briefing on its features and infrastructure.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Whip Jagdish Makwana, MLAs P K Parmar and Prakash Varmora, prominent leaders Hitendrasinh Chauhan, Dilip Patel, Shankar Dalwadi, Bababhai Bharwad, along with other dignitaries and office bearers, District Collector Dr Rajendra Patel, District Development Officer K S Yagnik, Deputy Inspector General of Police Girish Pandya, Divisional Railway Manager Ravish Kumar, and other senior officials were present, along with a large gathering of people. RDI scheme a major boost for R&D and deep-tech in India: Industry
The approval of the Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) scheme by the Union Cabinet on Tuesday, with a corpus of Rs 1 trillion, is being seen as a major boost to research and development and deep-tech investment in India. Industry players and associations welcomed the announcement as a step in the right direction. India's R&D investment has long been a concern, with the country allocating only about 0.64 per cent of its GDP—significantly lower than the 2–5 per cent invested by countries such as the US, Japan and China. Many hope India will also attempt what China did in 2008 under its 'Thousand Talent Plan' to attract talent back to the country. The programme aimed to bring researchers and entrepreneurs home to contribute to the scientific and technological journey. 'The wish from industry is for the Fund to provide grants for research and fund the commercialisation of innovation. A scheme to attract global Indian talent and allow them to set up labs in India will be a critical factor for success. This will allow equity capital to follow and fuel the commercialisation of Indian innovation,' said Siddarth Pai, founding partner, 3One4 Capital. He added that India's innate talent requires infrastructure and policy support to thrive and move up the value chain. 'A single-window clearance for labs and import of equipment will be crucial to create this ecosystem,' he said. The scheme, announced in the July 2024 Budget, has excited the industry because of the two-tiered financing structure it proposes. Funds will flow through a 50-year, interest-free loan to the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), chaired by the Prime Minister. The ANRF will then offer long-term concessional loans to second-level fund managers such as alternative investment funds, development finance institutions and non-banking financial companies. These, in turn, will finance individual projects. Anjali Bansal, founding partner of Avaana Capital, said this was a much-awaited move: 'Deep-tech ventures have longer gestation periods, complex technical risks, and often don't align with traditional venture capital timelines. India needs a broader spectrum of financing instruments—early catalytic capital, innovation-linked debt, and blended finance models that allow commercial investors to participate as the companies scale. The challenge lies in balancing long-term investments in deep tech with short-term economic gains. Patient capital, combined with strong technical and business teams focused on fundamental unit economics, can build a scaled business and deliver outsized returns over time.' Pai said a significant aspect of the special-purpose fund was that it enables the government to deploy capital through special purpose vehicles, AIFs and other instruments in collaboration with the private sector. 'This marks a strategic shift, recognising that industry has a better grasp of emerging technology needs,' he said. He added that the fund-of-funds model has worked well in developing the startup ecosystem in India. 'The same model lends itself to fuelling innovation with the government as a partner.' While the scheme's structure has been announced, the industry is now awaiting finer details—including the criteria for fund allocation and the timeline for disbursement. Ajai Chowdhry, founder of HCL and chairman of the EPIC Foundation, said the fund would also enable translational research by the private sector. 'Typically, under the ANRF, technical and research institutions will take innovation up to TRL-4 (technology readiness level). The private sector—both corporates and startups—can then take it to TRL-9 for India and the world,' he said. Industry players also raised concerns over the composition of the ANRF's governing board. Several told Business Standard that a board comprising only bureaucrats could derail the initiative. 'Ideally, people with global experience or those currently building products or services should be part of the board. This will be key. A board made up only of academics or bureaucrats will not help,' said a senior executive at a venture capital firm. According to the details released on Tuesday, the ANRF's governing board will provide overall strategic direction to the RDI scheme, while its executive council will recommend guidelines for the scheme and second-level fund managers, as well as define the scope and types of projects in sunrise sectors. Changes to the scheme, sectors or project types—as well as changes to second-level fund managers—will be approved by an empowered group of secretaries led by the Cabinet Secretary, the statement said.

They are not able to find out what happened to the plane that crashed in Ahmedabad, and Modi Ji is roaming abroad; this is the condition of the country." Meanwhile, on the relationship between the RSS and BJP, Raut said, "RSS and BJP are brothers. If RSS wants, then it can teach the BJP a lesson. The BJP that is seen today is based on the strength of RSS workers." He further demanded that Prime Minister Modi question US President Donald Trump over his stance towards India. "Prime Minister Modi should ask Trump what kind of drama you are doing with India. There is no one in the United Nations who can raise our voice. The way President Trump is trying to give power to Pakistan is a danger for India in the near future," he added.

Congress slams Modi govt over Pakistan's UNSC presidency, calls it 'diplomatic setback'
The Congress on Wednesday (July 2, 2025) slammed the PM Modi-led government for 'failing to prevent Pakistan' from assuming key positions in the United Nations, calling it a 'major diplomatic setback for India'. Pakistan on Tuesday said that it assumed the Presidency of the UN Security Council for the month of July. The presidency of the Security Council — the world body's power centre — is part of Pakistan's two-year term as a non-permanent member of the UNSC, which began in January 2025. In addition, Pakistan will chair the Taliban Sanctions Committee and serve as vice-chair of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee. Speaking to reporters here, Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala said, "the terror state of Pakistan has now been made the global security broker. The devil is now in the chair." Pakistan, "a terror state with a proven record of harbouring terrorists, promoting terrorism, and exporting terror to India" was being elevated to global leadership positions, even as India continues to face terror attacks sponsored by it, he said. "This happened just weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack, which was Pakistan-sponsored," Mr. Surjewala alleged, questioning the Modi government's "silence and inaction". He claimed Pakistan's elevation came "despite all the bravado on foreign policy" displayed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, who, he alleged, had failed to rally global support to prevent this outcome. 'Repeated violations' Citing a specific instance, Mr. Surjewala pointed out that Pakistan assumed the vice-chair of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee on June 4, 2025, despite its repeated violations of international resolutions on terrorism. "What are the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, and India's Permanent Representative to the UN doing," he asked. He also criticised the government for failing to protest when Pakistan, allegedly backed by China, blocked India's proposal to designate Abdul Rauf, a known anti-India terrorist, as a global terrorist in the same Counter-Terrorism Committee. "The same Pakistan becomes vice-chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee, and the Government of India raises no objection," Mr. Surjewala claimed. He also lamented the 'decline' of India's traditional diplomatic ties. "Our old and trusted allies, relationships built by the Congress across the world, in Asia, and our neighbourhood have been alienated. Today, we are isolated. Even smaller nations like the Maldives, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka no longer stand with us." "Diplomacy requires more than photo-ops and optics," he said.
